A conventional oil cooler with a built-in oil filter was proposed in Utility Model Application No. 159109/1983. This oil filter has an oil filter located in the center and a multi-plate core arranged concentrically on the outside thereof, and the oil that has passed through the core is first guided to the filter. And it was constructed so that it flowed out from the hollow part of the center bolt located at the center. This type of structure houses the filter within the element to make it more compact, but it has the disadvantage of requiring a large number of parts and also requires loosening the bolts when replacing the filter after a certain period of use. This will cause the seals on the top and bottom of the element to loosen. Therefore, there is a risk that the lubricating oil and the cooling water will mix, causing problems such as water getting into the engine or oil flowing into the radiator. In addition, in small vehicles, the outer surface of the engine is limited, so it is difficult to secure enough contact area with the engine.
A problem arises in that the effective area for heat exchange becomes smaller.

and an oil filter 8 are placed above and below, respectively, and the casing 7 covers them as a whole, and a hollow bolt 9 is inserted through the center of the bolt 9, and the tip of the bolt 9 is screwed and fastened to the engine body 12. As a result, the opening edge of the casing 7 is connected to the engine body 12.
It is removably and liquid-tightly connected to the First, the cooler element unit 5 has a plurality of cooler elements 3 communicating with each other through communication holes 19, and an oil passage 4 formed between the outer surfaces of each cooler element 3. The cooler element 3 is made of a pair of upper and lower dish-shaped aluminum plates, the peripheral edges of which are liquid-tightly brazed and fixed, and the edges of the communicating holes 19 formed at 180° symmetrical positions with respect to the center. Make the part bulge. Then, each element 3, 3 is successively joined in a liquid-tight manner at this hole edge. Then, a pair of boss portions 16 are respectively brazed and fixed to the cooler element 3 located at the uppermost stage. Further, a seal 11 is provided on the edge of the bolt insertion hole of the lowermost cooler element 3, and is formed to align with the outer peripheral surface of the bolt 9. Next, the oil filter 8 is formed into a cylindrical shape, and seals 31 are affixed to both upper and lower edges thereof. The inner peripheral surface of the filter 8 and the bolt 9
A certain amount of clearance is formed between the shaft and the outer peripheral surface of the shaft. The bolt 9 has a hollow shaft as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, and a plurality of oil flow holes 21 are formed in the portion facing the cooler element unit 5. Further, an external thread is threaded on the outer periphery of the lower end of the bolt 9. Next, the casing 7 has a stepped opening at one end, and a bolt insertion hole 20 is bored in the center of the end closed surface 6, and the bolt insertion hole 20 is spaced 180 degrees apart from the center of the bolt insertion hole 20. A pair of boss insertion holes are bored through the hole. The oil cooler of the present invention thus constructed can be attached to the engine body 12 in the following manner.

The oil filter 8 is attached to the opening side of the casing 7, and the bolts 9 are inserted from the outer surface of the casing 7 via the O-ring 31, and the bolts 9 are screwed into the recirculation passage 15 of the engine body 12. Then, the opening edge of the casing 7 is joined to the engine body 12 via the O-ring 30. Then, the oil 18 is made to flow from the outflow path 14 of the engine body 12 through a check valve (not shown) that prevents foreign matter from flowing back into the engine body, and is first made to flow from the outer circumference to the inner circumference side of the oil filter 8. At the same time, the oil 18 is circulated between the inner periphery and the outer periphery of the shaft portion of the bolt 9, and the oil 18 is transferred to the cooler element unit 5.

will be established. In this embodiment, a spherical relief valve 22 is pressed against a valve seat 24 by a coil spring 23. and oil filter 8
When the filter is normal and not clogged, the oil 18 flows through the filter 8 to the cooler element unit 5 as in the first embodiment.
Next, when the filter 8 becomes clogged,
The internal pressure of the oil 18 increases and pushes up the relief valve 22, causing the oil to flow into the hole 2 of the valve chamber 26 as shown in FIG.
5 directly flows to the cooler element unit 5. That is, when the oil filter 8 becomes clogged, the oil is bypassed without passing through the filter 8.

Note that the present invention is of course not limited to the above-mentioned embodiment. For example, in this embodiment, the edge of the communication hole 19 of the cooler element 3 is bulged outward, but instead of this, a ring-shaped spacer may be used. It may be located at the edge of the communicating hole 19. Further, although the cooler element unit 5 is formed in a circular shape in this embodiment, it may be formed in a rounded rectangular shape. Further, inner fins and outer fins may be interposed in the cooling water flow path 2 and the oil flow path 4.
Further, the shape of the casing 7 can be changed as appropriate depending on the various shapes of the cooler element unit 5 and the oil filter 8. Furthermore, it is also possible to cause the oil to flow in the direction opposite to the arrow in the drawing, and the positions of the cooler element unit 5 and the oil filter 8 may be exchanged. Furthermore, in order to fix the casing 7 to the engine body 12, instead of the above embodiment, a flange may be provided on the outer periphery of the casing 7, and it may be fixed to the engine body 12 with bolts. Alternatively, a threaded portion may be formed on the outer periphery of the casing 7 and the threaded portion may be screwed and fastened to the engine body 12.
