一方、OFケーブルが、特に深海底ケーブルとして用い
られる場合には、極めて長い距離(長尺)にわたって高
圧油の維持が必要とされる。
海水と絶縁油の密度差により、地上部から最低必要とさ

用した場合にも、十分その特性が反映されることが判っ
た。
さらに、このアルキルジフェニルエタンは、ポリエチレ
ン、ポリプロピレン、ポリ−4−メチル−ペンテン−1
などのポリオレフィンに対する面]油性については、従
来のOF絶縁油よりも優れており、これらのポリオレフ
ィンを複合したPPラミネート紙などの半合成紙のOF
