[Detailed Description of the Invention] (Industrial Application Field) The present invention relates to a device for rounding the tip of a cut monofilament, particularly a cut monofilament for brush bristles. More specifically, the present invention relates to a cut monofilament tip processing device that can continuously and efficiently process the tip of a cut monofilament to produce a finished product having a uniform tip shape without discoloration.

(Prior Art) Cut monofilaments, which are synthetic resin monofilaments cut into desired lengths, have been widely used as bristles for toothbrushes and hairbrushes. However, a cut monofilament has a sharp cut surface, and it is dangerous to use it as a brush as it is, so it is usually necessary to round the tip of the cut monofilament, a so-called rounding process.

The equipment for performing the above tip ball processing is as follows:
For example, a device (Japanese Unexamined Patent Application Publication No. 52-118) that slides a wire rod fixed to a holder while pressing it against the surface of a file plate.
39870) and a device for placing a wire in a slit on the circumferential surface of a cylindrical rotating body, rotating this rotating body, exposing the end of the wire to the flame of a burner, melting it, and rolling it (Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 58-39870) ), but although the former device eliminates the sharp edges of the cutting surface of the wire, some wire ends themselves tend to be sharply pointed, and the latter device does not achieve rounded ends. However, due to fluctuations in the burner flame, etc., the size of the tip ball tends to become uneven, and the tip portion tends to change in quality and turn yellow due to oxidative deterioration, and furthermore, the thickness of the wire and the size of the tip ball tend to change. There are drawbacks, such as the need for skill in adjusting the strength of the burner flame to accommodate differences such as:

(Problems to be solved by the present invention) Therefore, the inventors of the present invention were able to obtain a cut-shaped monofilament with a uniform tip shape and no discoloration, and which also had a uniform tip shape and no discoloration. As a result of our study to obtain a cut monofilament tip processing device that can be widely adapted to various changes, we used a heater in place of the burner of the device described in the above-mentioned Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 58-39870, and made further specific improvements. It has been found that the above object can be effectively achieved by adding an inert gas supply means.

As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the apparatus of the present invention includes a grooved rotary roll 1 having a plurality of grooves 2 in which cut monofilaments 3 are placed one by one, and a supply port 4 for cut monofilaments 3 at the bottom. a storage box 5 with A monofilament receiving box 7 and a guide 8 for positioning the cut monofilament 3 placed in the groove 2 of the grooved rotating roll 1
and an inert gas supply means 9 for supplying inert gas in the direction of the arrow toward the supply port 4 of the storage box 5 and the heater 6 portion, and 10 in the drawing is a pedestal for supporting and fixing these as a whole. .

Here, it is desirable that the grooves 2 of the grooved rotary roll 1 have a diameter that allows each cut monofilament 3 to be placed therein. The bottom surface of the storage box 5 is inclined slightly downward from the center of the grooved rotating roll 1 as shown in FIG. It is desirable that the thickness is such that it can move parallel to 2 under its own weight one by one. The heater 6 is preferably an electric heater whose temperature can be adjusted by adjusting the amount of electric heating, and as shown in FIG.
Furthermore, the tip 3' is heated and melted by radiant heat.
It is placed at a distance that allows it to be pitched first. Note that the length of the heater 6 is arbitrarily selected depending on the type of resin and the diameter of the cut monofilament.

The opening 9-1 for the heater 6 of the inert gas supply means 9 is substantially open, and an inert gas (for example, nitrogen )
The flow rate is regulated by valve 11. In addition, an opening 9- for the supply port 4 on the side of the storage box 5 of the inert gas supply means 9
2 is in the form of a nozzle, and the flow rate of the inert gas therein is set at such a rate that the cut monofilaments 3 supplied from the supply port 4 to the grooves 2 of the grooved rotary roll 1 are placed on the grooves 2 one by one, that is, with a heavy A valve 12 is used to adjust the flow rate so that the cut monofilament 3 that has entered the groove 2 is dropped from the groove 2 by the injection force of the inert gas. Here, the inert gas ejected from the opening 9-2 diffuses and stays in the heater 6 from the guide 8, and serves to prevent oxidative deterioration and aging of the cut monofilament.

(Operation of the invention) In order to actually process the tip of a cut monofilament using the apparatus of the invention, first, the cut monofilament 3 cut to a predetermined constant length is stored in the storage box 5, and the heater 6 is turned on. Heating and temperature control are performed to maintain a constant temperature near the melting point of the resin that makes up the monofilament. When the grooved rotary roll 1 is rotated in the direction of the arrow, the cut monofilaments 3 automatically enter the grooves 2 from the inclined supply ports 4, and are securely placed one by one in the grooves 2 by the action of inert gas. , heading towards heater 6. In the heating area by the heater 6, the cut monofilament 3 is softened and melted by radiant heat, and after being formed into a ball with a uniform size, it falls into the receiving box 7 due to its own weight as the grooved rotary roll 1 rotates.

In the above, if the heaters 6 are installed in parallel on both sides of the upper part of the grooved rotating roll 1, it becomes possible to round both ends of the cut monofilament 3.

(Effects of the Invention) According to the apparatus of the present invention, it is possible to process the tip of a cut monofilament continuously and efficiently, and it is also possible to obtain a tip-shaped product with a uniform shape and no discoloration. In other words, compared to heating with a conventional burner flame, the heating temperature can be controlled at a constant level, and the heating area is kept in an inert gas atmosphere, so the tip of the heated cut monofilament will not become colored due to oxidation or aging. There is no fear that this will happen.

Furthermore, according to the device of the present invention, it is possible to change processing conditions and settings corresponding to changes in the material resin and wire diameter of the cut monofilament, and changes in the size of the tip, such as adjusting the voltage of the heater and This can be easily done by adjusting the rotational speed of a rotating roll, and various applications are possible.
