Description of the Related Art In general, most transmitter/receiver circuits connected to communication networks require a few bits of time from the time an input appears to the time a valid output is produced, so a preamble is usually inserted before each piece of data constituting a frame. A bit string called . . . is added to compensate for the time it takes to reach a steady state, ie, a state in which these transmitter/receiver circuits can send valid outputs to the system. In addition, FDDI-II

In the communication standard defined as IEEE 2013-2013 (Earface-II), the length of this preamble is often set at 5 symbols (1 symbol = 5 bits).

This situation is shown in FIGS. 15 and 16.

Station n is a station connected to the above communication network, and here it is assumed that it accepts serial data S0 transmitted at transmission frequency f0, temporarily stores it in a buffer memory, and then transfers this stored data to the next It is assumed that the first station 1 that transfers the stored data to the other station performs the read (transfer) operation of the stored data at an internal frequency f1 slightly lower than the transmission frequency f0, and the serial data transferred from the first station 1 The second station 2 receives S1 (transmission frequency f1), temporarily stores it in a buffer memory, and further transfers this stored data to the next station at an internal frequency f2 that is slightly higher than the frequency f1. The readout (transfer) operation of the stored data is performed, and the serial data S2 (transmission frequency f2) transferred from the second station 2 is received and temporarily stored in the buffer memory, and the stored data is further transferred. The third station 3, which transfers to the next station, uses the above frequency f.
If the reading (transfer) operation of the stored data is performed at an internal frequency f3 slightly higher than 2, the phase of each serial data S0 to S3 will naturally be as shown in FIG.
The results vary as shown in (a) to (d). If these phase differences are accumulated, an overflow or underflow will occur in the buffer memory for temporarily storing data in the subsequent connection station, and the normal operation of the buffer memory cannot be guaranteed.

rst-out) format, and the clock extraction unit 14 extracts the transmission clock from the input serial data and uses the extracted clock WC1.
This part writes the serial data to the elastic buffer 12 based on the data, and the used buffer amount detection unit 15 detects the amount of data written to the elastic buffer 12, that is, the buffer usage amount of the buffer 12 each time. This is the part that detects the clock phase control unit 1.
6 determines the phase of the clock generated from the internal clock source 11 based on the detection output of the used buffer amount detection unit 15 in order to absorb the phase shift of data due to the frequency difference between stations through the elastic buffer 12. The preamble length detector 17 controls the phase shift (advance or delay the phase) and reads out the data stored in the elastic buffer 12 using the clock RC1 of the controlled phase. Detect the length of the preamble PA included in the serial data read from the serial data (
For example, the used buffer amount detection section 18 is a section that detects the preamble PA and counts its length. The used buffer amount detection section 18 is a section that detects the buffer usage amount of the smoothing buffer 13 each time.
The internal clock source 1 is used to increase or decrease the length of the preamble PA through the smoothing buffer 13.
The phase of the clock generated from WC2 is controlled based on the detection outputs of the preamble length detection section 17 and the used buffer amount detection section 18, and the clock WC2 having the controlled phase is used to read from the elastic buffer 12. Smoothing buffer 1
This is the part written in 3. The data written in the smoothing buffer 13 in this way is transferred to the internal clock source 1.
The data is read out based on the clock RC2 generated from RC2, and is output from the station as transfer data to the next station.

The preamble length, which has been adjusted to be extremely short or extremely long by absorbing this phase shift, is then corrected through a smoothing buffer. Therefore, in this method, when short preamble cycles (frames) arrive at a certain station in succession, the smoothing buffer works to restore the preamble length to its original length, and in a few cycles the smoothing buffer It is expected that the allowance will be used up. That is, in this case, subsequent cycles of the serial data must be sent to the next station without being able to perform any correction. Therefore, if the serial data to be transmitted passes through many stations and the above adjustment is repeated in the same cycle, the preamble length in the cycle becomes shorter and shorter, until it becomes 0 symbols (no preamble). It is possible that it may become. This means that subsequent adjustments may affect the data portion and even cause data corruption.

Sometimes, the phase of the clock generated from the internal clock source is delayed, and when the detection output of the first detection means exceeds a predetermined amount and the detection output of the second detection means is equal to or higher than a reference value, the internal clock is delayed. Control is performed to advance the phase of the clock generated from the internal clock source, and otherwise maintain the phase of the clock generated from the internal clock source at the standard phase for serial data transmission, and clock phase control means for reading out the data stored in the buffer means as output serial data to the next station based on the clock phase control means;

However, in the above preamble length adjustment algorithm according to the present invention, the length of the preamble input to the buffer (corresponding to the conventional elastic buffer) is monitored, and the preamble length of the frame is adjusted in the same direction. If it is determined that the preamble length has been adjusted previously, refrain from adjusting the preamble length for that frame, and proceed to the next frame (cycle). If it is determined that the
Then, the adjustment of the preamble length is carried forward. Therefore, according to the preamble length adjustment algorithm according to the present invention, the preamble length adjustment is not repeated for the same frame, and the resistance against data destruction is significantly improved.

Although this clock frequency is basically set to the same frequency for each station, in reality, its accuracy varies due to variations in the components that make up the clock source 21, and there may be slight variations between each station. As mentioned above, a frequency difference occurs. Incidentally, it is currently possible to suppress such frequency deviation to about ±50 ppm at the maximum.

This corresponds to the control to advance the phase of the read clock RC, and conversely, the "increase" in the input preamble length PAi corresponds to the control to delay the phase of the read clock RC (that is, to make it standstill), and the input preamble length "Maintaining" PAi means maintaining the phase of the operating clock as the authority issued from the internal clock source 21, and temporarily storing data (preamble) in the buffer 22 using the clock of this maintained phase (this becomes the clock RC). Since it corresponds to read control, in the relevant clock phase control section 26, the detection output B of the used buffer amount detection section 24 is lower than the above threshold value (B<-3), and the detection output PAi of the preamble length detection section 25 is When it is below the reference value (PAi ≦5), the internal clock source 21
The phase of the clock generated from is delayed by the amount by which the preamble is increased by one symbol (PA=PAi +1), and the detection output B of the used buffer amount detection unit 24 exceeds the above threshold (B>+3), and the preamble length When the detection output PAi of the detection unit 25 is equal to or higher than the reference value (PAi ≧5), the phase of the clock generated from the internal clock source 21 is reduced by one symbol of the preamble (PAi
= PAi -1), otherwise,
Control is performed to maintain the phase of the clock generated from the internal clock source 21 at the standard phase as the authority.

の起こる気遣いもない。As shown in FIG. 3, the preamble length PA adjusted by the first station based on the above algorithm
(see Figure 3(a)) is taken over as the input preamble length PAi to the second station for each cycle (frame), and is further adjusted based on the above algorithm at the second station. However, "*2" is shown in Figure 3(b).
As shown with a mark (corresponding to the "*2" mark in FIG. 2), the buffer amount B exceeds the upper limit threshold (+3 bits),
In the conventional case, the adjustment should be made from "4 symbols" to "3 symbols", but in this embodiment, the recognition of "previously, the adjustment was made in the same direction of reduction" in (3) above is changed. Based on this, further reduction adjustments to the preamble length of the cycle (frame) are refrained from being made. Then, in the next cycle (frame) in which the buffer amount B exceeds the upper threshold (+3 bits) and the input preamble length PAi has not been adjusted in the direction of reduction before then, this preamble is Long reduction adjustments are now carried forward. Therefore, the possibility that the preamble length is adjusted to be shorter than necessary (for example, 3 symbols or less) or longer (for example, 7 symbols or more) is extremely low. Of course, as long as the preamble length is not adjusted to be shorter than necessary, there is no need to worry about the aforementioned data destruction.

This margin is N/T<1

(2)
(see formula). In other words, this means that even if the number of carryovers N in the adjustment described above increases, the value of the number N of carryovers that is allowed under the condition that formula (4) is satisfied also increases, and the preamble is adjusted according to the previous algorithm. As long as length adjustments are made, it seems that the relationship expressed in equation (4) will not break down in reality.

It is sufficient to secure the number of bits caused by the allowable deviation of ΔF. In other words, if ΔF<±100ppm, then the number of bits is b=1.5.
625×2ΔF×0.01=4 [bit]. Incidentally, in the above example, the minimum threshold bit number when performing one symbol (=5 bits) adjustment is ±3 bits, and by adding this bit number b to this, the buffer 22 of the above embodiment device can be adjusted. The required minimum number of bits is determined as ±7 bits.

Although it was concluded that preamble loss cannot occur even in the case shown in 1, the model discussed here is not necessarily the worst case under all circumstances. In other words, referring to FIGS. 10 and 11, there are k (k<n) consecutive stations where the frequency difference Δf has positive polarity, and then at the (k+1)th station, the frequency difference Δf once becomes negative polarity. Then, the station frequency returns to the original (the station frequency becomes the same as the station frequency F1 of the first station 1)
Even if something like this happens, the number of carryovers (consecutive number) N accumulated up to that point will not be reset to "0", and the accumulated value will be the number of carryovers (consecutive number) at subsequent stations.
This is because it is added to N.

(See equation (2) above), and the margin against preamble loss also decreases (see equation (4) above). However, since the number of times the frequency returns in this way also contributes to the reduction of the number of adjustment carryovers (successive number) N, simply because the number of returns is large does not necessarily mean that it will be the worst case, and the number of times the frequency returns is It is considered that the worst case occurs when a certain number of times is reached.

If it is determined that the preamble length has been adjusted in the same direction as above, the preamble length adjustment for the frame is refrained from and the next frame is adjusted. Since the adjustment of the preamble length is carried over from frame to frame, the preamble length adjustment will not be repeated for the same frame, and in any case, the preamble length can be adjusted within a suitable length range. will be able to maintain it. This causes not only buffer memory overflow and underflow, but also
Always stable token passing without any data corruption etc. will be realized.
