【表】DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a catalyst composition that exhibits excellent effects in alkylating side chain alkyl groups of alkyl aromatic hydrocarbons. In detail, the reaction involves bringing an alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon and methanol into contact with each other in the gas phase at high temperature to alkylate the side chain alkyl group of the alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon, and in particular, by bringing toluene and methanol into contact with each other in the gas phase at high temperature to alkylate the side chain alkyl group of the alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon. The present invention relates to a catalyst composition that exhibits excellent effects on reactions that produce ethylbenzene. Conventional methods for producing styrene industrially include alkylating benzene with ethylene in the presence of an acid catalyst such as aluminum chloride to obtain ethylbenzene, and then alkylating it with ethylene in the presence of a Fe 2 O 3 -Cr 2 O 3 catalyst, etc. A dehydrogenation method is used. However, since the above method uses Lewis acids such as aluminum chloride, there are many economical disadvantages such as corrosion of equipment and disposal of waste catalysts. On the other hand, the method of obtaining styrene and ethylbenzene by alkylating the side chain methyl group of toluene using methanol as an alkylating agent can significantly shorten the process time of the conventional method, and also has disadvantages such as corrosion of conventional equipment. This is an interesting process because it can solve the problem. For a method of alkylating the side chain methyl group of toluene using methanol as an alkylating agent, see, for example, Journal of Catalysis 26 303-312 (1972).
It has been described that styrene and ethylbenzene are produced by reacting toluene with methanol or formaldehyde in the gas phase at high temperature in the presence of an alkali metal ion-exchanged zeolite catalyst. Further, US Pat. No. 4,115,424 describes a catalyst in which boron or phosphorus is added to zeolite ion-exchanged with an alkali metal. However, these catalysts also have problems such as a low single-flow methanol conversion rate and a low selectivity for the target product, and a large change in catalyst activity over time, which is thought to be due to carbon deposition. In addition, the present inventors have developed at least one catalyst selected from the group consisting of potassium, rubidium, and cesium as a catalyst capable of alkylating side chain alkyl groups of alkyl aromatic hydrocarbons with higher yield than these known catalysts. We propose a catalyst composition containing as an essential component zeolite ion-exchanged with metal ions and at least one member selected from the group consisting of copper, magnesium, zinc, vanadium, chromium, tungsten, and nickel. 56-118338). These catalyst compositions can be used as they are, but in order to be used industrially advantageously, they are required to have catalyst strength that can withstand long-term use. From the above viewpoint, the present inventors conducted extensive studies and found that by using a catalyst composition containing silica and basic zeolite, alkyl aromatic hydrocarbons can be produced in a higher yield than conventional catalysts that do not contain silica. The present invention was achieved by discovering that the side chain alkyl group of can be alkylated. The present invention will be explained in detail below. The catalyst composition according to the present invention contains silica and basic zeolite. The silica used in the present invention is not particularly limited, but silica sol and the like are preferably used as the starting material. In some cases, it is also possible to use a silica-alumina sol that may contain up to 40% of alumina based on silica. For basic zeolite, a general method for measuring the basicity of a solid, for example, PKa +7.2 A series of hook indicators showing the above (bromthymol blue PKa=+7.2,
Zeolite is not particularly limited as long as it develops a basic color by adding phenolphthalein (PKa = 9.3, etc.) or whose basicity is confirmed by adsorbing acidic gases such as hydrochloric acid. However, X-type and Y-type zeolites ion-exchanged with alkali metals such as potassium, rubidium, and cesium are preferably used. The amount of silica added to basic zeolite is 1
-60% by weight, preferably 5-50% by weight. The silica-basic zeolite composition can be prepared by a known general method, such as a method of physically mixing basic zeolite and silica, but after mixing zeolite and silica in advance, A method of denaturing it to basic properties can also be used. An example suitably used will be described next. A predetermined amount of silica sol is added to the zeolite and heated while stirring to evaporate to dryness. While stirring the obtained dried product in a solution containing a predetermined amount of alkali metal ions, ion exchange is performed to convert the zeolite to basicity. The catalyst composition of the present invention can more advantageously alkylate the side chain alkyl group of an alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon by containing at least one selected from copper and iron. Starting materials for copper and iron include oxides such as copper oxide and iron oxide, organic acid salts such as copper formate and iron formate, borates such as copper borate and iron borate, copper phosphate, iron phosphate, etc. phosphates, copper nitrate, iron nitrate, and other nitrates are preferably used. The amount of these metal compounds added to the silica-basic zeolite composition is selected within the range of 0.01 to 30% by weight, preferably 0.05 to 20% by weight of the metal. The metal compound can be added to the silica-basic zeolite composition by, for example, mechanical mixing, impregnation with an aqueous solution, or spraying with an aqueous solution or suspension. An example in which this is preferably used will be described below. The above silica-basic zeolite composition is added and suspended in an acetone solution in which a predetermined amount of a metal compound is suspended, stirred vigorously for 10 minutes to 1 hour, and then filtered. The resulting composition is usually dried and then heated to a temperature of about 300°C to 600°C, preferably
It is baked at a temperature of 400°C to 500°C for about 1 to 10 hours. The firing atmosphere is not particularly limited. The form of iron and copper in the catalyst composition may be metal, oxide, or salt. These forms vary depending on the raw materials and firing atmosphere. The shape of the catalyst is not particularly limited, and may be formed into any shape and size such as pellets, tablets, and granules depending on the usage conditions. This catalyst is used as a catalyst for alkylation of side chain alkyl groups of alkyl aromatic hydrocarbons using methanol. Toluene, ethylbenzene, or xylene is used as the alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon. For example, styrene and ethylbenzene can be synthesized from toluene, α-methylstyrene and cumene can be synthesized from ethylbenzene, and methylstyrene and ethyltoluene can be synthesized from xylene. . The alkylation reaction is carried out by first vaporizing the raw material alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon and methanol in a preheating section, thoroughly mixing them, and then introducing them into the catalyst bed. Good too. The reaction is usually carried out near normal pressure, but may be carried out under reduced pressure or increased pressure in some cases. The molar ratio of methanol to the raw material alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon is usually in the range of 0.1 to 10 times, preferably in the range of 0.2 to 6 times. The reaction temperature is usually 300℃~550℃, preferably 360℃
℃ to 470℃, and the space velocity of the raw material gas consisting of alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon and methanol is 100 to 470℃.
It can be appropriately selected from the range of 3000 hr -1 , preferably 200 to 2000 hr -1 . The catalyst can be used in fixed bed, moving bed or fluidized bed methods. As explained in detail above, when this catalyst is used, the side chain alkyl groups of alkyl aromatic hydrocarbons can be alkylated in high yield, and at the same time, physical properties such as catalytic strength, which are important for industrial catalysts, are improved. It is very advantageous industrially. Next, the present invention will be explained in more detail with reference to examples, but the present invention is not limited to the following examples unless it exceeds the gist thereof. In addition, in the following Examples and Comparative Examples, the methanol conversion rate, side chain alkylation selectivity, and styrene production ratio are defined by the following formula. Methanol conversion rate (%) = Number of moles of methanol consumed / Number of moles of methanol supplied x 100 Side chain alkylation selectivity (%) = Number of moles of styrene + ethylbenzene produced / Number of moles of methanol consumed x 100 Styrene production ratio = number of moles of styrene produced/

g was dissolved in 1000 ml of water to prepare an ion exchange solution. 300 ml of the above ion exchange solution was added to 20 g of commercially available NaX zeolite (manufactured by Showa Yunox Co., Ltd.), stirred at 60° C. for 3 hours, and filtered. After repeating the same operation again, add the remaining 400ml of ion exchange solution, stir at 60℃ for 3 hours, filter, remove the ion exchange solution, dry at 120℃ for 10 hours, and then bake in a Matsufuru furnace at 500℃ for 3 hours. A catalyst (catalyst A) (Cs-K-X zeolite) was obtained. Add 10 ml of benzene to 0.5 g of this catalyst, and add phenolphthalein-benzene solution (colorless PKa) as an indicator.
