[Detailed description of the invention] (Field of industrial application) The present invention is a device for applying paint to a long body, specifically, a paint application device for coating the outer surface of a long body made of electric wires, pipes, strings, or similar materials. The present invention relates to a coating device for applying paint to a uniform thickness.

(Prior art) Conventionally, as a means of continuously applying paint to a constant coating thickness on the outer surface of such a long body, the long body is immersed and passed through the paint filled in a container in advance. After applying a certain amount of paint, use a paint application die, cloth, felt, etc. to squeeze out the excess paint on the surface of the long body, and compare the coating film thickness on the surface of the long body. Many methods are used to equalize the characteristics.

However, when using conventional paint application dies, there are the following drawbacks. In other words, the die is usually made of a rigid material such as metal, and the die hole diameter is constant, so firstly, if the outer diameter of the long object varies, the coating thickness will also vary, and the coating thickness will change. Drying and curing speeds also fluctuate, resulting in coating defects.
Furthermore, if foreign matter such as dust is caught, it may cause streak-like scratches on the coating film, or if the elongated body is thin, the foreign matter may catch on the wire and cause wire breakage.

Secondly, if the paint is a water-based paint or a paint containing an organic solvent, it tends to stagnate or solidify near the die inlet, causing streaks on the paint film and resulting in poor coating. Thirdly, although centering is usually performed to maintain a constant clearance between the die hole diameter and the outer diameter of the elongate body, there are drawbacks such as uneven coating due to vibrations of the elongate body that is continuously transported.

In addition, cloth, felt, etc. are generally made with a porous structure using natural fibers or synthetic fibers that have a low elastic limit value and poor abrasion resistance, so they are flexible and easily conform to the surface of a long body, and are suitable for long bodies. Contact friction causes wear and increases uneven coating, making long-term continuous operation impossible under optimal conditions.

In addition, in order to compensate for this drawback, a method is used in which an appropriate amount of paint is impregnated in excess and the material is compressed by applying an appropriate external force, but since the elastic limit value of cloth, felt, etc. The phenomenon of crushing of the cells that make up the structure occurs especially near the surface of the moving long object, reducing the paint retention function and making it extremely difficult to adjust the optimal application conditions, that is, the external force for clamping in this case. becomes. On the other hand, the wear of the parts that come into contact with the long object increases as the external force increases, causing uneven coating thickness, streaks, etc., and areas with increased coating thickness causing poor drying and solidification. On the other hand, it may cause the paint to be partially coated.
In addition, this phenomenon tends to occur when the paint runs out during startup or the dipping process, and if paint is not applied to the surface of the long body, the surface of the long body and cloth, felt, etc. There were drawbacks such as an increase in the coefficient of friction between the long body and the wire, leading to breakage and breakage of the long body.

(Problems to be solved by the invention) The present invention was made by focusing on the above-mentioned drawbacks of conventional paint application dies for long objects, cloth, felt, etc. It is an object of the present invention to provide a paint coating device capable of continuously forming a coating film of uniform thickness over a long period of time on the surface of a body without uneven coating or streaks.

Thus, the housing 1 can be divided into an upper housing 1a and a lower housing 1b by an attachment/detachment mechanism (not shown). The upper housing 1a and the lower housing 1b, which are divided into two parts, have semi-cylindrical grooves 2a and 2b that constitute a cylindrical hollow part when they are joined, and grooves 2a and 2b on the elongated body a exit side. When joined, semi-funnel-shaped grooves 3a and 3b forming the funnel-shaped hollow portion 3 are formed.

Next, the fiber web 5 is made by cutting a fiber tow of highly elastic and abrasion resistant materials such as stainless steel fibers and copper alloy fibers and having an outer diameter of several tens of microns or less, preferably about 20 microns or less, into an appropriate length, and then cutting the fiber tow into an appropriate length using a fiber opening machine. The opened single fibers are intertwined with each other to form countless communicating voids (also called cells) inside, and have strong rebound elasticity, and when pressed. The material is compressed while remaining completely empty, and even if it is impregnated with paint, the air will not collapse over time like cloth, felt, or non-elastic metal fibers. In addition, since it is highly flexible, the surface of the elongate body will not be damaged even by contact friction with the elongate body.

First, a long body a whose outer surface has been primarily coated with paint by a method such as dipping in a previous step (not shown) is inserted into the hollow part 2 of the device of the present invention as shown in Figure 2. The arrow passes through the through hole 10 of the push barrel 8 and the through hole 6 of the push ring 4, and further contacts the fiber webs 5a and 5b loaded in the hollow part on the exit side of the elongated body a separated by the push ring 4. The paint applied in excess on the top is suctioned and held within the countless communicating cells formed in the fiber web 5, and is applied to a uniform desired coating thickness, for example, several microns to several tens of microns, and is then discharged from the device. drawn out.

In this case, since the outlet side of the elongated body a of the hollow part 2 is constricted into a funnel shape, the air cylinder 9 is operated and the push ring 4 is moved through the push barrel 8.
When pressed uniformly, the rear end of the fiber web 5 is press-fitted into the funnel-shaped hollow part 3, and the degree of compression of the fiber web 5 can be freely adjusted by changing the air pressure. By increasing or decreasing the contact pressure acting on the outer surface of the elongated body a of the fiber web 5 in this operation, the thickness of the coating film on the elongated body a can be adjusted as appropriate.

In addition, when the paint suctioned and held in the fiber web 5 accumulates and fills all the cells of the fiber web 5 over time, the excess paint is sucked into the paint dipping tank in the previous process through the through hole 15. Reflux can be achieved by means of reflux.

(Effects of the invention) Since the device of the invention has the configuration and operation described in detail above, 1) it is possible to adjust the coating state on a long object, which was difficult with conventional paint coating dies, cloth, felt, etc.; According to the present invention, the degree of compression of the elastic and wear-resistant fiber web loaded into the hollow part of the housing can be adjusted appropriately via the push ring 4, and the thickness of the coating film on the elongated body can be freely adjusted. And it can be easily controlled with good reproducibility. 2) In addition, the degree of compression in 1) can be adjusted uniformly over the entire fiber web, and even if paint is occluded like cloth, felt, etc., the cells will not be crushed at the interface with the elongated body, making it possible to This eliminates uneven coating. Furthermore, even if there are waves or irregularities on the surface of the elongated body, it is possible to follow these and maintain a uniform coating film thickness at all times. 3) Furthermore, since the cells do not collapse and become resistors, and have good wear resistance, continuous operation for a long period of time is possible. 4) Even if dust or the like adheres during the first coating, it is removed at the first contact with the fiber web 5 and is finally brought to the coating surface in the funnel-shaped hollow part 3 where the coating condition is adjusted. It never happens. 5) When changing the size of the long body or changing the paint, since the housing 1 and the fiber web 5 are of a two-piece type, there is no need to change the long body when attaching or removing it, and the work can be done in an extremely short time and with good efficiency. be able to. 6) Also, if you prepare multiple sets of the device of this invention, if a problem occurs with the paint film due to some reason during paint change or operation,
As mentioned above, since it is of the two-piece type, the device can be replaced without stopping the running of the elongated body. 7) Excess paint accumulated in the fiber web is discharged to the outside by suction or the like through the through hole 15, so that the paint in the fiber web is always kept flowing in a sealed state.
It has many advantages such as being able to prevent the paint from solidifying within the fiber web.
