Examples include methods described in various publications such as No. 43. In these methods, when exposed silver halide is developed using a developer, the reducing agent is oxidized and at the same time coexisting polymerizable compounds (e.g. vinyl compounds) start polymerizing, resulting in image-like formation. Therefore, the above-mentioned method requires a development process using a liquid, and the process requires a relatively long time.

The present inventors attempted to improve the above-mentioned image forming method and invented a method capable of forming a polymer compound by dry processing, and a patent application for this invention has already been filed (Japanese Unexamined Patent Application Publication No. 1983-1973).
6906), this method is a recording material (photosensitive material) in which a photosensitive layer consisting of a photosensitive silver salt (silver halide), a reducing agent, a crosslinking compound (polymerizable compound), and a binder is supported on a support. ) is imagewise exposed to form a latent image, and then, by heating, a polymer compound is formed in the area where the latent image of the photosensitive silver salt has been formed. That is, this image forming method is a method of polymerizing a polymerizable compound in a portion where a silver halide latent image is formed.

In addition, the present inventors have disclosed that, as one aspect of the above-mentioned image forming method, silver halide, a reducing agent, a polymerizable compound,
Simultaneously with or after imagewise exposure, a photosensitive material having a photosensitive layer containing a color image-forming substance is subjected to a development treatment to polymerize and harden the polymerizable compound, thereby immobilizing the color image-forming portion of the cured portion. A patent application has already been filed for an image recording method characterized by
73145). This image recording method is extremely useful as a color image forming method because a desired color image can be easily obtained by using various dyes with different coloring hues and forms as color image forming substances contained in the photosensitive material. This is an advantageous method. A major feature of this method is that it can use pigments as color image-forming substances, which are characterized by strong line color but cannot be used in ordinary silver halide photographic materials. Furthermore, as a preferred embodiment of a photosensitive material capable of producing a color image, a photosensitive material having a photosensitive layer formed by accommodating the above-mentioned color image forming substance in microcapsules together with a photosensitive component such as silver halide has also been proposed.

On the other hand, among these photosensitive materials, photosensitive materials containing photosensitive microcapsules containing a base or a base precursor are described in JP-A-63-32251, JP-A-63-926861, JP-A-1-160148, and the like. These photosensitive microcapsules are characterized by rapid development because the base is generated inside the microcapsules and can be developed at a relatively low thermal development temperature.

It was known that this poor shelf life is mainly caused by reactions caused by bases or base precursors, and is particularly likely to be accelerated at high temperatures. However, when we conducted a simulation experiment in which photosensitive materials were actually manufactured, processed, shipped, and sold, we found significant changes that could not have been predicted from forced aging tests at high temperatures. It was found that this change was largely influenced by the history of the photosensitive material during the process up to processing, rather than by the storage conditions in the test.

There has been a desire for a photosensitive material that can be shipped as soon as possible after manufacturing and that exhibits little subsequent change in performance. As a result of studies, the present inventor was able to create a photosensitive material with little change in performance by controlling the history from coating to processing.

In addition, when using two types of substances that cause a color-forming reaction when in contact as the solid color image-forming substances described above, one of the substances that cause a color-forming reaction and a polymerizable compound may be placed in microcapsules. A color image can be formed on the photosensitive layer by allowing other substances among the substances contained in the microcapsules and causing the above-mentioned color-forming reaction to exist outside the microcapsules containing the polymerizable compound. A photosensitive material from which a color image can be obtained without using an image-receiving material as described above is described in JP-A-62-209444.

A reducing agent that can be used in a light-sensitive material has a function of reducing silver halide and/or a function of promoting (or inhibiting) polymerization of a polymerizable compound. There are various types of reducing agents having the above functions. The above-mentioned sensitizers include hydroquinones, catechols, p-aminophenols, p-phinidinediamines, 3-pyrazolidones, 3-aminopyrazoles, 4-amino-5-
Pyrazolones, 5-aminouracils, 4,5-dihydroxy-6-amitubirimidines, reductones, amylreductones, 0- or p-sulfonamidophenols, 0- or p-sulfonamidonaphthols,
24-sulfonamitophenols, 2,4-disulfonamidonaphthols, 0- or p-acylaminophenols, 2-sulfonamidoindanones, 4-
Sulfonamide-5-pyrazolones, 3-sulfonamide indoles, sulfonamitovirazolohenzimidazoles, sulfonamide pyrazolotriazoles, α
- Sulfonamide ketones, hydrazines, etc. By adjusting the type, amount, etc. of the reducing agent, it is possible to polymerize the polymerizable compound in either the area where a latent image of silver halide is formed or the area where a latent image is not formed. In a system in which a polymerizable compound is polymerized in a portion where a silver halide latent image is not formed, l-phenyl-3-pyrazolidones, hydroquinones, and sulfonamidophenols are particularly preferred as reducing agents.

These reducing agents may be used alone, or two or more types of reducing agents may be used in combination as described in each of the above specifications. When two or more types of reducing agents are used together, the interaction of the reducing agents is, first, to promote the reduction of silver halide (and/or organic silver salt) through so-called superadditivity; , silver halide (
The oxidized form of the first reducing agent produced by the reduction of the first reducing agent (and/or organic silver salt) causes the polymerization of the polymerizable compound (or suppresses the polymerization) through a redox reaction with other reducing agents coexisting. ), etc. can be considered. However, in actual use, the reactions described above may occur simultaneously, so it is difficult to specify which effect is responsible.

Various image formation accelerators can be used in the photosensitive material. Image formation accelerators have the following functions: ■ Accelerating the movement of bases or base precursors, ■ Accelerating the reaction between reducing agents and silver salts, and ■ Accelerating the immobilization of dye-donating substances through polymerization. In terms of function, they are classified into the aforementioned bases or base precursor nucleophilic compounds, oils, heat solvents, surfactants, compounds that interact with silver or silver salts, and compounds that have an oxygen scavenging function. However, these substance groups generally have multiple functions and usually have some of the above-mentioned promoting effects. For details of these, see U.S. Pat.
It is described in publications such as No. 09443 and specifications.

The image-receiving layer may contain a thermoplastic compound. When the image-receiving layer contains a thermoplastic compound, it is preferable that the image-receiving layer itself is constituted as an aggregate of thermoplastic compound fine particles. Image receiving layer configured as above:! It has the advantage that it is easy to form a transferred image, and that a glossy image can be obtained by heating after image formation. There are no particular restrictions on the thermoplastic compound mentioned above, and known plastic resins (
It can be arbitrarily selected from wax, wax, etc. However, the glass transition point of the thermoplastic resin and the melting point of the wax are preferably 200'C or less. The image-receiving layer may contain a photopolymerization initiator or a thermal polymerization initiator. In image formation using an image receiving material,
The pigment is transferred together with the unpolymerized polymerizable compound. Therefore, a photopolymerization initiator or a thermal polymerization initiator can be added to the image-receiving layer for the purpose of smoothly proceeding with the curing process (fixing process) of the unpolymerized polymerizable compound. In addition, regarding an image receiving material having an image receiving layer containing a photopolymerization initiator, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 1982
Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 161149 describes an image receiving material having an image receiving layer containing a thermal polymerization initiator.

A dye or pigment can be included in the image-receiving layer for the purpose of adding characters, symbols, frames, etc. to the image-receiving layer, or for the purpose of making the background of an image a specific color. Further, a dye or a pigment may be included in the image-receiving layer for the purpose of making it easier to distinguish between the front and back sides of the image-receiving material. As the dye or pigment, various known substances including dyes or pigments that can be used in image formation can be used, but there is a risk that the dye or pigment may damage the image formed in the image-receiving layer. In some cases, it is preferable to lower the dyeing density of the dye or pigment (for example, make the reflection density 1 or less), or to use a dye or pigment that has the property of being decolored by heating or light irradiation. An image-receiving material having an image-receiving layer containing a dye or pigment that has the property of being decolored by heating or light irradiation is described in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 62-251741.

When the dye or pigment described above is contained in the image-receiving layer, it may be contained uniformly or unevenly distributed in a portion. For example, when the support is made of a light-transmitting material, a portion of the reflected image becomes a projected image due to the white pigment contained in the image-receiving layer. By doing so, image information that is unnecessary in the projected image can also be written as a reflected image in the image-receiving layer portion containing the white pigment.

4.The materials were moistened and sealed in moisture-proof bags laminated with aluminum to prepare photosensitive materials FF-1 to FF-10. After winding up and until humidity control, the film was stored at 25°C and 60% unless it was placed in a heated refrigerator. After storing these photosensitive materials at room temperature for two months, they were exposed to light using a halogen lamp whose color temperature was adjusted to 3100K and through a filter with a transmission density of O to 4.0 that was continuously changed under an exposure condition of 200001 ux for 1 second. 1 in a drum type heat developing machine heated to 135°C.
The light-sensitive material was heat-developed for 0 seconds and then layered with an image-receiving material (R5-1) to be described later, and in that state was passed through a pressure roller of 1300 kg/cj at a speed of 2 CI/sec. The image-receiving material was then peeled off from the photosensitive material to obtain a positive image on the image-receiving material. The density of the obtained image was measured.
