Abstract

The display device has a main part which rotates a pointer shaft according to a measurement parameter, a scale plate (2), a pointer needle with a base section on the shaft and an indication region (5c) with a pigmented coating and an associated light source and feed arrangement. The indication region of the needle is of essentially elongated, fine cylindrical shape. The illumination system contains a light conducting plate (3) and incandescent bulbs (4). USE/ADVANTAGE - Motor vehicle instrument with illuminated rotating pointer needle is simply and economically made. Needle is uniformly illuminated and visibility of its position w.r.t. scale improved compared to conventional instruments.
