Conventionally, shielded ribbon cables include (1) shielded ribbon cables in which the signal transmitting conductor and the drain wire are not located on the same plane, as disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 124310/1983; ) As shown in Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 60-8339, a shielded ribbon cable is known in which a signal wire and a drain wire are manufactured separately, and a shield layer is provided on them in a subsequent process. There is.

In the conventional example (1) above, since the signal transmitting conductor and the drain wire are not located on the same plane, it is impossible to apply a conductor insertion type one-touch connector. This is because the pitch and depth of the slits formed in each contact of the connector are all the same, so the drain wire cannot be inserted into the slit of the contact. In the conventional example (2), the signal line and the drain wire are manufactured separately, and a shield layer is provided on them in a later process, which has the disadvantage of requiring a large number of manufacturing steps. The object of the present invention is to provide a shielded ribbon cable that advantageously solves the above-mentioned problems.

The conductor is made up of, for example, seven thin copper wires with an outer diameter of about 0.1 to 0.2 mm twisted together, and the surface of the twisted wires is coated with a tin plating layer. Further, as a conductor to become a drain wire, a portion of the insulating coating 3 of the conductor located at the side edge of the cable core is cut out and removed in the length direction to expose the conductor.

A shield layer 5 is further wound around the outside of the cable core 4 configured in this manner. This shield layer 5 is made by integrally laminating a metal foil, such as a copper foil or an aluminum foil, and a plastic film, such as a polyester film, and is wound so that the polyester film side is located on the outside.

That is, at both ends of the cable according to the present invention, the protective sheath 6 and the shield layer 5 are peeled off and removed over a certain width a, for example, about 2 mm, to provide an exposed portion of the insulator 3, and the exposed portion of the insulator 3 is removed. Each conductor 1, 1, . . . and the conductor 1 to become the drain wire 2 are exposed at the tip of the body over a certain length b, for example, about 3.5 mm.

Note that if a fragile adhesive is applied to the inner surface of the shield layer 5 in advance, the shield layer 5 and the cable core 4 will be bonded together, so that the holding sheath 6 will not lift up from the cable core 4, and both will be damaged. There is no relative movement. Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 3, the position of the notch in the insulation coating on the side surface of the drain wire 2 may be made horizontal.

According to this invention, a plurality of conductors 1, 1, . It comprises a coated cable core 4, a shield layer 5 provided on the outside of the cable core, and a holding sheath 6 coated on the outside of the shield layer 5, and located on the side edge of the cable core 4. A part of the insulating coating 3 of the conductor is cut out in the length direction and exposed, and this conductor is brought into direct contact with the shield layer 5 to form the drain wire 2. (1) When the terminals of the cable are exposed and each conductor is made to protrude to a certain length, each conductor 1, 1... and the conductor 2 which becomes the drain wire are integrated, so the mutual positional relationship is No change occurs. Therefore, there is an effect that each conductor and drain wire can be inserted all at once in a conductor insertion type one-touch connector.
