Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a paper with high smoothness and an OHP sheet from winding about a pressure roller by providing a projection on the surface of the pressure roller whose hardness is low. CONSTITUTION:The pressure roller 2 having projections at several spots on its external side press-contacts with a heating roller 1 and is rotated by following the rotation of the roller 1. A nip part is formed at a pressuring part because the roller 2 is deformed, and toner 11 is fixed on a recording material 8 by heat and pressure. At the part of the roller 2 other than the nip part, the recording material 8 contacts with the roller 2 only in the small area of the material 8 and the projection. Thus, the attracting force between the roller 2 and the recording material 8 becomes weak and the recording material 8 does not wind about the pressure roller.

【産業上の利用分野】本発明は、電子写真装置などに用
いる定着ローラの用紙剥離に関するものである。

【従来の技術】従来、感光体のトナー像が転写された用
紙を一対のローラ間に通過させ、熱と圧力で定着する、
定着装置は、一般的には加熱ローラと加圧ローラとで構
成されており、加熱ローラはアルミ管の表面にPTFE
,PFA等の、いわゆるテフロンを被覆している。また
熱源となるハロゲンランプを配設している。もう一方の
加圧ローラは弾性体、すなわちゴムローラで、高温に於
いて安定した物理的強度が要求されるので、一般的には
シリコンゴムで用いられている。しかし最近では、封筒
や両面印字を行なうために加圧ローラの硬度を低くして
シワの発生を防止しており、構造的には二層構造となっ
ている。硬度を低くするために、1層目はスポンジの様
な発泡ゴムを使用し2層目には、テフロンチューブで被
覆したり、RTVタイプのシリコンゴムで被覆する構造
で、いずれも2層目の厚さは、50μm〜300μm程
度であり、硬度もHs40〜65゜程度のものを使用し
ているが、相対的硬度は低く、封筒シワや両面印字時の
紙シワは発生しない。しかし薄紙やOHPシート等が加
圧ローラに巻き付く現象が発生する。これは、加圧ロー
ラの表面が高平滑であるため、特に、OHPシートの様
に高平滑の物は、吸着力が強くなり巻き付いてしまうの
である。従って特願昭63−181229号や特願昭6
3−181230号の図象に示されている様に、加熱ロ
ーラと加圧ローラの双方に剥離爪をローラへの巻き付き
防止を行なっている。またシリコンオイルを塗布するこ
とにより、オフセットを防止する共にローラへの巻き付
きを防止している。

防止出来る。また加圧ローラの外径大の位置を紙サイズ
により最適な位置に設定することにより効果的に剥離を
行なうものである。さらに、加圧ローラの外径差を0.
3〜4.0mmに設定することにより、定着強度のバラ
ツキを少なくし、かつ用紙剥離とを両立させることが出
来る。応用例として、加熱ローラの軸線と加圧ローラの
軸線を中央部で交差させる様に各ローラを配設すること
により、用紙は、ニップ部に対して斜めに進入すること
になり、排出される時も用紙の端部から排出されるので
、加圧ローラに接触している面積が少ないため用紙の弾
性により加圧ローラから剥離しやすくなるのである。

の外周には、ゴム硬度Hs10゜のLTVタイプシリコ

Aチューブを被覆しているものである。加圧ローラ2は

ラ1に圧接され摺接回転する。6は、サーミスタで加熱
ローラ1の外周面の温度を制御している。7は、記録材
8が加熱ローラ1に巻き付くのを防止するための剥離爪
で、引きバネ9によって加熱ローラ1に微圧をかけてい
る。

様に高平滑で吸湿しにくい記録材8は、加圧ローラ2の
表面の平滑度が高いほど大きな力で吸引しローラに巻き
付いてしまう。従って、図2に示すように加圧ローラ2
の表面に複数個の凸部2aを設け、OHPシートとの接
触面積を少なくすることにより吸引力を弱くして巻き付
きを防止するものである。また図3に示す加圧ローラ2
も外周の数ケ所に凸部2aを設け、定着後のOHPシー
トと加圧ローラ2の接触面積を少なくして巻き付きを防
止している。また凸部2aの間隙は、記録材8のサイズ
によって効率の良い位置があり、A4サイズの210m
mの幅の場合、凸部2aは用紙の中央部と用紙中央から
左右に±50〜70mmの位置に設定するのが良い。つ
まり3ケ所の凸部2aが最適である。さらにA3まで対
応する場合は、さらに±50〜70mmの位置に2ケ所
追加する構造が良い。次に凸部2aの高さhは、ゴムの
硬度によって異なるが、0.3〜4mm の範囲が最適
である。高さを高くしすぎるとニップ部の不均一で、定
着出来ない部分が発生したり、逆に低すぎると加圧ロー
ラ2との密着性が良くなり巻き付きの原因となる。
