Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a molded product such as a baseball bat having metal gloss by a method wherein a transfer layer having a metallized layer is superposed on a base layer of a semicured state to be transferred thereto and a surface layer in a semicured state is superposed on the transfer layer to be bonded thereto and two or more formed laminates are further laminated, if necessary, along with a core material to be integrally cured. CONSTITUTION:The glass cloth 1a of a reel 5 and the release papere 19 of a reel 6 are superposed one upon another by a roll 17 and impregnated with the thermosetting resin supplied from a resin supply means 20 and the impregnated one is dried through a drying chamber 13 to take up as a semicured base layer 1 by a reel 7. Next, a transfer sheet 2 having a transfer layer 2b consisting of an adhesive layer 2f, a metallized layer 2e, a printing layer 2d and a release layer 2c and the base layer 1 are superposed one upon another and passed through nip rollers 14a, 14b to transfer the transfer layer 2b to the base layer 1. A semicured thermosetting resin impregnated glass cloth layer 3 is superposed on the transfer layer 2b of the base layer 1 and dried in a drying chamber 16 to form a laminate. The formed laminates are further laminated or laminated along with a core material to be cured.

However, conventionally, no method has been provided for manufacturing FRP molded products exhibiting both metallic luster and patterns. The first possible manufacturing method is to form a reflective layer on the top surface of the printed paper using gold or silver ink, print a pattern on it, and then mold the paper into FRP. One possible method is to incorporate it as an inner layer of the product. However, the reflectance of the reflective layer formed with gold ink or silver ink is still insufficient, and it is not possible to achieve sufficient metallic luster.

In the present invention, in the first step, the base layer 1, that is, the layer to be placed on the core material 4 such as a plastic molded product, is made by impregnating glass cloth with a thermosetting resin and semi-curing it. It will be done. This semi-cured state is a state that has not been completely cured and still has sufficient adhesiveness. This base layer 1 is made on release paper (see Figure 3).

In the second step, the transfer sheet 2 is superimposed on the semi-cured base layer 1. Then, the transfer layer 2b of the transfer sheet 2 is transferred and adhered to the base layer 1 by a pressure transfer method or a pressure heat transfer method. As described above, at this point, the base layer 1 is in a semi-cured state, so the adhesive layer 2f of the transfer layer 2b and the semi-cured resin of the base layer 1 are bonded extremely well. Then, the release layer 2a is peeled off.

In the third step, a glass cloth is impregnated with a thermosetting resin, and as in the case of the base layer 1, it is heated to semi-cure to form the surface layer 3. This semi-cured surface layer 3 is then bonded onto the transfer layer 2.

In the final step, the semi-cured thermosetting resin of layers 1 and 3 is completely cured by applying pressure and heating using a press. As a result, the laminate shown in FIG. 2 is a completely integrated FRP molded product. In addition, as shown by the imaginary line in FIG. 2, the laminate may not be cured after being laminated on a core material 4 such as a plastic molded product.

In the FRP molded product completed as described above, since the surface layer 3 and the release layer 2c are transparent, the metal vapor deposited layer 2e exhibits an extremely excellent metallic luster, and the metal deposited layer 2e has excellent metallic luster. The printed pattern on the printed layer 2d will be visible on the outside. In this way, it is possible to produce an FRP molded article that has gloss and exhibits a pattern, which is the initial objective of the present invention.
