No effective method has been found to modify the polymer to suppress thermal shrinkage, which causes holes, and the current solution is to mix para-aramid fibers.

In the method of the present invention, a dispersion containing a halogen flame retardant and a phosphorus flame retardant is applied to a meta-aramid fiber fabric. The meta-aramid fiber fabric as used in the present invention refers to woven fabrics, knitted fabrics, non-woven fabrics, etc. made of long fibers or short fibers made of polymetaphenylene isophthalamide.

A representative example of this is a halogen flame retardant whose main component is cyclododecane.
This is commercially available as a flame retardant for post-processing of polyester; for example, Pyrogard F-
800 and Nitsuka Huainon CG from Nicca Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.
-1 etc. can be mentioned. In addition, representative examples of phosphorus-based flame retardants include phosphorus-based flame retardants whose main component is dialkyl phosphonocarboxylic acid amide, and these are commercially available as durable flame retardants for cellulose fibers. For example, Ciba Geigy's Pyrobatex-CP and Meisei Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.'s Phoscon 82 can be mentioned. These flame retardant agents are applied to fibers using conventional resin processing equipment and conventional processing methods.

Do this for about 1 minute at 0°C. After heat treatment, normal alkali soaping is performed using sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, etc. to remove unfixed halogen flame retardants, phosphorus flame retardants, and concomitant chemicals for resin crosslinking. The present invention has the above configuration.

Although it is not clear whether this is the case, the present inventors speculate as follows. For meta-aramid fibers, which are originally carbonized, the carbonization promoting effect of the phosphorus-based flame retardant, which promotes carbonization, is accelerated by the halogen-based flame retardant, which is generally said to promote melting, and a carbonized layer is formed before the fibers undergo thermal contraction. It is assumed that this will reduce the amount of hole space.

The performance of the fabrics in the Examples was evaluated by the following method. (1) Using a flame-resistant Bunsen burner, supply air to create a strong flame, maintain the flame length at 12 cm, hold the sample horizontally 9 cm above the nozzle for 15 seconds, then remove it and open the hole. The presence or absence of porosity and surface morphology were observed.
