Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a flexible shaft excellent in bending operability and capable of holding a satisfactory condition after bending by inserting a bendable wire rod inside a flexible tube having flexibility and fixing both ends of the wire rod to the flexible tube. CONSTITUTION:A flexible shaft 1 is composed of a flexible tube 2 having flexibility and a bendable wire rod 3. The flexible tube 1 is formed of a tube material 1a formed of a spirally wound spring steel wire and a strip-like armor member 1b spirally wound around the outer peripheral surface of the coiled tube 1a. The wire rod 3 is made of a straight iron wire inserted slantly inside the flexible tube 2 with the nearly same length as the flexible tube 2 and fixedly welded on the upper and lower ends to the inner wall surface of the flexible tube 1. Thus, a bending operation can be smoothly carried out.

Conventionally, as shown in FIG. 3, the above-mentioned flexible shaft 22 has a core material 22b formed by fitting a plurality of steel wires into a flexible tube 22a formed by spirally winding a spring steel wire. Insert and arrange the core material 2 without any gaps.
Only one end (the lower end in the figure) of the flexible tube 2b is fixed to the lower end of the flexible tube 22a by welding or the like. As shown by the two-dot chain line in FIG. 3, the above-mentioned clamp member 23
is fitted onto the outer periphery of the lower end of the flexible shaft 22, and the mounting member 24 is fitted onto the outer periphery of the upper end of the shaft 22.

(Problem to be solved by the invention) However, in the conventional flexible shaft 22,
Since the core material 22b is inserted and arranged inside the flexible tube 22a without any gaps, the flexibility of the flexible tube 22a is impaired due to the frictional resistance generated between the two.
There is a problem in that it is difficult to perform a bending operation.

(Means for Solving the Problem) In order to achieve the above object, in claim (1), a bendable wire rod thinner than the inner diameter of the tube is provided inside a flexible tube over almost the entire length. In this flexible shaft, since a gap is formed between the wire and the inner wall surface of the flexible tube, a large frictional resistance that would impede the bending operation is not generated between the two. In addition, since both ends of the wire are fixed to the flexible tube, the bending rigidity of the wire can prevent the return elasticity of the flexible tube that occurs after bending, and the rotation of the flexible tube in the circumferential direction can be prevented by the wire. It can be suppressed by its presence.

In this flexible shaft 1, by inserting and arranging the wire rod 3 inside the flexible tube 2 in an inclined state, the two can be brought into a non-contact state except for the fixed portion, so that the frictional resistance that impedes the bending operation is generated between the two. This allows the bending operation to be performed smoothly.

Furthermore, since the upper and lower ends of the wire rod 3 are fixed to the upper and lower ends of the flexible tube 2, respectively, the bending rigidity of the wire rod 3 can absorb the return elasticity of the flexible tube 2 that occurs after bending. Therefore, flexible duplex 2
Springback of the flexible shaft 1 that may occur due to the return elasticity of the flexible shaft 1 can be reliably prevented.

Further, since the upper and lower ends of the wire rod 3 are respectively fixed to the upper and lower ends of the flexible tube 2, the presence of the wire rod 3 can prevent rotation of the flexible tube 2 in the circumferential direction.

(Effects of the Invention) As detailed above, according to the flexible shaft according to claim (1), since a gap is formed between the wire rod and the inner wall surface of the flexible tube, the bending operation can be performed at the time of bending. This has the advantage that there is no frictional resistance between the two that would hinder the bending operation.

In addition, since both ends of the wire are fixed to the flexible tube, the bending rigidity of the wire can stop the return elasticity of the flexible tube that occurs after bending, thereby reliably preventing springback of the flexible shaft. This has the advantage of suppressing rotation of the flexible tube in the circumferential direction.
