-The synthetic method for naphthol has the following advantages: (1) high optical and chemical yields, (2) raw materials and chiral sources are cheap and easily available, and (3) reaction conditions are milder and simpler. It has characteristics. [Summary of the Invention] The optically active acetal derivative represented by the general formula () of the present invention can be produced, for example, by the following method. [In the formula, R 1 and R 2 are a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, and R 1 and R 2 may form a ring together with the nitrogen atom to which they are bonded. R 3 is an alkyl group. ]. [First step] In this step, 2-acetyl-5,8-dimethoxy-

can be easily synthesized. As the trialkoxymethane (), trimethoxymethane, triethoxymethane, etc. are used. Further, as the acid, camphorsulfonic acid, p-toluenesulfonic acid, hydrochloric acid, etc. are used. This step is preferably carried out in a solvent, and alcoholic solvents such as methanol and ethanol are used. The reaction proceeds smoothly at a temperature of 0°C to room temperature. [Second Step] In this step, the acetal derivative () obtained in the first step is subjected to acetal exchange with the optically active diol () in the presence of an acid catalyst to produce an optically active acetal derivative (). Optically active diol () is a compound that can be easily synthesized from natural (2R,3R)-(+)-dimethyl tartrate, (2R,3R)-(+)-diethyl tartrate, etc. (Reference examples and
