Generally, when concrete absorbs water, that is, when water passes through cracks or interconnected voids in concrete, lime hydroxide (Ca(OH) 2 ) dissolves over many years. It will gradually become eroded. Here, if carbon dioxide gas is dissolved in the water, this erosion becomes particularly significant. The white precipitate on the surface of concrete, called efflorescence, is the result of the evaporation of the lime hydroxide solution dissolved in the manner described above and the carbonation effect. Such outflow of lime hydroxide results in neutralization of concrete, which poses a problem in maintaining the properties of concrete.

This problem is particularly noticeable in the case of reinforced concrete. That is, the reinforcing bars in concrete are rust-proofed due to the alkalinity of the concrete. However, due to the above-mentioned carbonation of concrete, the reinforcing bars begin to rust. This rusting of reinforcing bars not only weakens the strength of the reinforcing bars themselves, but also causes expansion of the reinforcing bars, which in turn promotes cracking of the concrete, which is extremely inconvenient.

The protective material of this example is mixed and stirred in a ratio of 10 to 30 parts of lithium silicate, 10 to 30 parts of the sodium silicate reactant, 5 to 20 parts of silicon, and 30 to 65 parts of water, when the total weight is 100 parts. It is formed by this. Each ratio is determined according to the degree of neutralization of the concrete outer wall. In addition, as a preferred embodiment, 20 parts of lithium silicate, 20 parts of the sodium silicate reactant, 10 parts of silicon, and 50 parts of water are mixed.
The mixture is stirred to form a protective material for application.

Here, lithium silicate is mixed in to weaken water solubility and to impart alkalinity to concrete. However, it is generally known that this lithium silicate is not permanent. The sodium silica reactant is incorporated to promote surface tension on the concrete surface. This sodium silicate reactant is formed by mixing 0.5 to 3 parts silicon to 100 parts sodium silicate and reacting the mixture. The ratio of silicon is appropriately determined depending on the degree of damage to the concrete surface, but a ratio of 1.5 is usually used. Separately incorporated silicon is known to have water repellent properties. However, this silicon has poor weather resistance.

A protective material having such components is formed as follows. That is, first, lithium silicate and water are mixed and stirred. A sodium sulfate reactant is added to the aqueous solution thus formed and stirred. Finally, silicon is added and stirred. In this way, a protective material solution is formed.

This protective material solution is applied with a brush over the entire surface of the concrete outer wall or to areas requiring repair where efflorescence has developed. Note that this application can be performed using a brush, spray, etc., without using a brush, and the application efficiency is improved.

By applying it in this way, a coating layer of the protective material is formed on the surface of the concrete outer wall, and
Alkalinity is forcibly added to the neutralized concrete part, and the alkalinity of the concrete is restored. By restoring the alkalinity of concrete, the strength of the concrete itself is maintained, and especially when it is reinforced concrete,
Prevents internal reinforcing bars from rusting.

In addition, the moisture in this coating layer evaporates into the air over a certain period of time, forming a protective layer, but since the active ingredients of this protective layer are mainly inorganic, it is difficult to protect against the concrete surface. Excellent adhesive properties.

In this protective layer, the aforementioned main components lithium silicate, sodium silicate reactant, and silicon are mixed. Therefore, it is assumed that these are generally uniformly distributed and exposed on the surface of the protective film. Here, water repellency is exhibited in areas where silicon is exposed, surface tension is promoted in areas where sodium silicate reactant is exposed, and alkalinity is emphasized in areas where lithium silicate is exposed. . Even if the surface of such a protective film is worn out for some reason, the function of the protective film as a whole will not be impaired as the effectiveness of each active ingredient will be exhibited on average. In other words, if silicon is located below the exposed lithium silicate, and lithium silicate is located below the exposed silicon, then Even if the exposed lithium silicate and silicon are removed, the silicon and lithium silicate immediately below are exposed, and the function of the protective film as a whole is not impaired.
