Next, the operation of the present invention will be explained. In the normal mode, it is assumed that the control terminal X is a high signal and the relay 61 is off, and the control terminal Y is low and the signal relay 62 is on. The operation at this time is that the on/off input information of the input contacts 1, 1A...1n is the input and output element 31, 31A...31n of the photo coupler 3, 3A...3n and the output elements 32, 32A...

Next, we will discuss the diagnostic control method for the photocoupler used as an isolated transmitter. First, both control terminals X and Y are set to low signal, and relay 6
1 and 62 are both turned on, the respective contacts 63 and 64 are closed, and the primary side of all the photo couplers 3, 3A...3n, that is, the input element 3
1, 31A, . . . , 31n via the common lines A and B, and as a result, the output terminals D0 to D7 should all have low signal level signals. Therefore, if there is a terminal with a signal that does not become a low signal, it means that the corresponding photo coupler 3, 3A, . . . , 3n is out of order. Next, when the control terminal Y is set to a high signal and the relay 62 is turned off, the circuit passing through the first common line A is cut off, and current flows into the primary side, that is, the input element, of all the photo couplers 3, 3A...3n. Since there is no problem, output terminal D
0 to D7 should all be high signal level signals. Therefore, if there is a terminal with a signal that does not become a high signal, the corresponding photo coupler 3, 3A
...3n is out of order. In this way, relays 61 and 6 are used as control switching elements.
Especially when 2 is on, photo cutlet 3, 3A...
3n open failure was confirmed, and relay 62
Depending on the off state, the photo cutter 3, 3A...
Since the shot failure of 3n can be confirmed, the diagnostic function is achieved.

In the above embodiment, a relay is used for this diagnostic control, but a switching element such as a transistor may also be used. Also, although the object of diagnosis is a photocoupler, any isolated signal transmitter such as a relay may be used. It can also be a model.

As described above, according to the present invention, switching elements are inserted into the first and second common lines respectively in order to diagnose open failures and closed failures of each isolated transmitter. It has the advantage of not only being able to diagnose a transmitter's failure, but also being able to determine whether the failure is an open failure or a closed failure.
