FIG. 2 shows a schematic configuration of a conventional ultrasonic linear motor. In this figure, a feed table 1 made of brass or the like is a sound wave propagating body for transferring a movable object 2 placed thereon, and a Languevent type piezoelectric vibrator is attached to one end of the feed table 1. An excitation vibrator 3 made up of a vibrator, etc. is mechanically (acoustically) connected to the other end of the vibrator 3, and a load vibrator 4 made of a Languevent type vibrator or the like is also connected to the other end. Then, the vibration vibrator 3
is excited by the excitation power source 5 for excitation, thereby generating ultrasonic vibrations in the feed table 1, which is a sound wave propagating body. In addition, a load resistor 6 is connected to the load vibrator 4, and this absorbs the reflected part of the ultrasonic energy sent out from the vibrator 4.
Only the traveling wave component of the ultrasonic waves is allowed to exist inside. As a result, the object 2, which is a movable body, is transported in the direction of arrow A by the traveling wave component of the feed table 1, which acts as a sound wave propagator.

Therefore, it is difficult to apply the method to applications other than transporting a movable object 2 linearly, for example, transporting it along a path of arbitrary curvature.

A movable spring material is wound spirally around this core material, so that the interaction between the core material and the spring material allows the spring material to be efficiently moved by ultrasonic vibrations even in a bent state of any curvature.

The ultrasonic vibrations are amplified by the horn 14 and further transmitted to the flexible core material 11 as a sound wave propagating body. Since the helical spring material 12 and the flexible core material 11, which are movable bodies, come into contact with each other at least at a plurality of locations, they work to mutually compensate for the attenuation of ultrasonic vibrations even in the bent state, and the spring material 12 picks up the traveling wave component of the ultrasonic vibration and moves in the direction of arrow B. At this time, if the object 10 to be transferred is attached to the spring material 12, this also moves in the same way.
