BACKGROUND ART Door mirrors have been widely used in recent years because they have a wide visibility range on the sides of a vehicle and are also preferred from a design standpoint. However, the problem is that the protrusion length in the vehicle width direction is larger than that of a fender mirror. In order to deal with the above, for example, on page 22-2 of ``Service Manual, HONDA, CIVIC Structural Maintenance Edition'' (published by Honda Giken Kogyo Co., Ltd. in 1984), there is a retractable door mirror shown in Figure 4. structure is disclosed. In the figure, the foldable door mirror shown as a whole is
It has a structure in which a mirror case 3 in which a mirror body 2 is housed and fixed is attached to a base 4 in a freely foldable manner, and by operating a lever 5 protruding from the base 4 into the vehicle interior as shown by arrows A and B. While the mirror surface of the mirror body 2 can be adjusted as shown by arrows a and b, it is also possible to tilt the mirror case 3 to the side of the door by manual operation, as shown in FIG. Arrow C). With this configuration, it is possible to prevent the mirror case 3 from becoming an obstacle when passing each other on a narrow road or entering a narrow garage. It is also known that the mirror case 3 can be operated electrically rather than manually to improve operability (for example, in the service bulletin published by Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., introduction of the Nissan Laurel C32 series cars, (published October 1984).

Function: When the driver tilts the mirror case toward the door, the driving force of the actuator rotates the mirror surface of the sub-mirror attached to the outermost part of the mirror case toward the outside of the mirror case. The sub-mirror makes it possible to see the rear side of the vehicle. Conversely, when the mirror case is extended outward, the sub-mirror is automatically housed inside the mirror case while rotating so that its mirror surface faces inward.

FIG. 1 shows the main components of the present invention, with the mirror body removed to clearly show the internal structure. That is, the mirror case 3 is attached to the base 4 so as to be freely foldable, and furthermore, the sub-mirror 5 is rotatably attached to the outermost part 3a of the mirror case 3. The sub-mirror 5 has a substantially semi-cylindrical shape, and its lower wall 5a is fixed to a pulley 6, while a spring 7 is installed between the upper wall 5b and the mirror case 3.
has been inserted. The spring 7 is normally biased with a force that causes the mirror surface 5c of the sub-mirror 5 to face inward of the mirror case 3. Further, the pulley 6 is rotatably supported on the mirror case 3,
It rotates by pulling the wire 8 wound around the pulley 6. Reference numeral 9 denotes an actuator that pulls the wire 8, and pulls the wire 8 with fluid such as air supplied through a pipe 10 to move the sub-mirror 5 to the outermost part 3a of the mirror case 3.
It is rotated as shown in FIG. 2 (arrow F).

FIG. 3 shows an example of an actuating device for rotating the sub-mirror 5, in which reference numeral 11 indicates a battery;
12 is an ignition switch; 13 is a normally open switch that is turned on when the mirror case 3 is tilted toward the door (also shown in FIGS. 1 and 2);
14 is a submirror switch. Further, 15 is a solenoid valve, and 16 is a vacuum tank. The solenoid valve 15 and the vacuum tank 16 are connected by a pipe 17. 18

According to the above configuration, the normally open switch 13 is turned on by tilting the mirror case 3 toward the door, and the submirror switch 1 is turned on by manual operation.
4, power from the battery 11 is supplied to the solenoid valve 15 via the ignition switch 12, the normally open switch 13, and the submirror switch 14. Then the solenoid valve 1
5 becomes "open", the negative pressure in the vacuum tank 16 is guided to the actuator 9 via the piping 17 and the piping 10, and the actuator 9 contracts.
Therefore, the wire 8 connected to the actuator 9 is pulled as shown by arrow D and rotates the pulley 6, so that the sub-mirror 5 fixed to the pulley 6
is rotated by a predetermined angle as shown by arrow E in FIG. At this time, in order to prevent over-rotation of the sub-mirror 5, a stopper mechanism (not shown) is provided, and the rotation angle of the sub-mirror 5 is regulated by the stopper mechanism.
In this way, as shown in FIG. 2, the sub-mirror 5 rotates by a predetermined angle at the outermost part 3a of the mirror case 3, so that the mirror surface 5c of the sub-mirror 5
The driver can see the rear side of the vehicle.

Next, when the mirror case 3 is extended outward, the sub-mirror switch 14 is turned off, and when the power supply from the battery 11 to the solenoid valve 15 is stopped, the solenoid valve 15 is "closed".
As a result, negative pressure is no longer supplied to the actuator 9 from the vacuum tank 16. Therefore, due to the action of the spring 7, the mirror surface 5c of the sub-mirror 5
rotates so as to face inward of the mirror case 3, and the sub-mirror 5 is housed within the mirror case.

As is clear from the above explanation of the operation, in the foldable door mirror to which the sub-mirror 5 according to the present invention is attached, when the mirror case 3 is tilted toward the door, the operation of the sub-mirror switch 14 becomes effective, and the sub-mirror 5 is It becomes possible to freely rotate the outermost part of the mirror case. Further, in the embodiment, negative pressure obtained from an intake manifold (not shown) is used as the power source for the actuator 9, but the configuration is not limited to the above, and a normal electric actuator is used to move the mirror case to the door. It goes without saying that it is also possible to automatically rotate the sub-mirror when the mirror is tilted to the side, and to automatically accommodate the sub-mirror in the mirror case when the mirror case is extended outward.

Effects of the Invention As explained in detail above, the vehicle door mirror according to the present invention has the outermost part of the mirror case attached to the outer side of the door of the vehicle so as to rotate when the mirror case is folded toward the door. Since it is equipped with a sub-mirror that moves, it has the advantage of improving safety by allowing you to check the rear of the vehicle side even when you pass each other on a narrow road or when you fold the door mirror toward the door when entering a narrow garage. . That is, when the driver tilts the door mirror toward the door when passing each other as described above, the sub-mirror located at the outermost part of the mirror case rotates by a predetermined angle and becomes visible to the driver. Therefore, when reversing into a garage etc., you can steer the vehicle while looking at the sub-mirror, thereby avoiding collisions with obstacles and increasing safety. It is effective when applied to

Furthermore, according to the present invention, when the door mirror is used in a normal state, the mirror surface of the sub-mirror is not exposed to the outside, so the driver can see the door mirror accurately without being confused by the sub-mirror. . Since the sub-mirror rotates and the mirror surface is exposed only when the mirror case is tilted toward the door, there is no risk of the sub-mirror being damaged or soiled during normal operation, and the effect is that it is aesthetically pleasing.

Further, by controlling the drive of the actuator, it is possible to finely adjust the rotation angle of the submirror itself, and the submirror can be easily adjusted to an optimal angle.
