On the other hand, since the terminal insertion portions of the printed circuit board are arranged in multiple rows at the same position, it is necessary to perform pitch conversion between the pressure contact side and the terminal side in this connector.

FIG. 5 shows an external view of a conventional flat cable connector. Reference numeral 17 denotes a pressure-welding side connector, in which the flat cable 13 is fitted with a cover 16 to be pressure-welded to the contact. Reference numeral 18 denotes a terminal side connector into which a plurality of terminals 14 (some of which are omitted) are inserted into a printed circuit board (not shown). The flat cable 13 and the printed circuit board are electrically connected by connecting the pressure contact side connector 17 and the terminal side connector 18.

The contact portion 11c extends upward in a different manner. In this way, the conventional structure is such that the pitch is changed by the contacts of the pressure-welding side connector 17.

Therefore, the contact 14 on the terminal side has a straight shape. The elastic force is generated by the elastic force of the contact portion of the contact side contact of the pressure contact side and the terminal side contact. In addition, 12 is an insulator on the pressure welding side,
15 is an insulator on the terminal side.

In conventional connectors, the pitch conversion is performed at the contact part of the pressure contact, and because the structure extends downward from the fixed part and is folded back upward, this part inevitably becomes longer in the vertical direction. As a result, the overall height of the connector was high.

As a result, the thickness of the insulator between them becomes thinner, and the fixing force of the contact that presses the cable becomes weaker, so this structure cannot be adopted either.

In order to solve the above problems, the present invention consists of an insulator and a plurality of contacts that are press-fitted into the insulator. Cable pressure welding part that is exposed to the outside and connects to the cable,
The other end has an elastic leaf spring shape extending from a cutout of the fixing part and is coaxial with the pressure contact part;
A pressure welding side connector having a contact portion with a mating connector housed in a cavity in the insulator, an insulator, and a plurality of contacts press-fitted into the insulator, and the insulator The contact has a hollow part into which an insulator is inserted, and the contact has an elastic leaf spring-like contact part at one end that is accommodated in the hollow part in the insulator and comes into contact with the contact part when the pressure-welding side connector is inserted. , a terminal having a terminal portion at the other end that is located at a different axial position from the axis of the contact portion and exposed to the outside of the insulator, and a fixed portion that converts the axis and is press-fitted into the insulator at an intermediate portion between the contact portion and the terminal portion. To provide a cable connector characterized by comprising a side connector.

According to the above means, first, the pressure-connecting side connector is formed such that the contact portion of the contact extends directly downward from the fixed portion. Further, the fixing part has a notch, and the contact part extends from the notch, so that the contact part protrudes from above. Therefore, the length of the contact portion in the vertical direction is shortened.
