Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress a spacing quantity low by providing a roller on the magnetic recording medium sliding part of a magnetic head so as to be smoothly slid between the magnetic head and a medium in contact with the medium rotatably. CONSTITUTION:In the case of recording or reproducing, when the medium to be rotated to medium sliding faces S1 and S2 of a main body 10 the magnetic head is slid in a direction (a), a roller 14 is rotated in contact with the medium and by the rotation, the medium and the medium sliding faces S1 and S2 are slid more smoothly than conventional. Therefore, the warp of the medium is hardly generated, and undulation or vibration caused by the warp is reduced. Then, the spacing quantity is hardly fluctuated and suppressed low, and the characteristic of the magnetic head is stablized and improved. Further, since the spacing quantity is suppressed low in such a manner, it is not necessary to strengthen the pressure for pressing the magnetic head to the medium, and the durability of the medium can be improved.

[Prior Art] As this type of magnetic head, there is a magnetic head used in an FDD (floppy disk drive device) that records or reproduces information on a magnetic disk, which is a flexible rotating magnetic recording medium called a floppy disk. , FDDs are rapidly becoming smaller and larger in capacity, and accordingly, magnetic heads for FDDs are required to have higher recording densities. An effective method is to shorten the wavelength of the signal recorded on the medium (hereinafter referred to as ``medium'').However, playback output loss caused by the gap between the medium and the magnetic head (hereinafter referred to as ``spacing'') , so-called spacing loss increases as the recording wavelength becomes shorter, and a small change in the amount of spacing greatly affects the reproduction characteristics of the magnetic head. Therefore, it is necessary to stabilize the contact state between the magnetic head and the medium and reduce the amount of spacing. (This is an important point in achieving high recording density. With this in mind, conventional FDD #i magnetic heads employ structures as shown in FIGS. 5 to 7.

The magnetic head main body 10.10 is arranged with the medium 11 in between so that the medium sliding surfaces S1 and S2 face each other, and the magnetic head main body 10.10 is arranged so that the medium sliding surfaces S1 and S2 face each other. The media 11 are pressed against each other, and the media 11 are pressed against each other. The reason why the track position of the magnetic head main body 1O110, that is, the position of the recording/reproducing core l, is shifted in this way is to prevent mutual interference between the cores.

One way to always reduce the amount of spacing is to increase the pressure applied to the medium 11 on the magnetic head via a spring (not shown), but this method tends to cause scratches on the medium 11, and its durability is limited. This is not preferable because it causes significant deterioration.

According to the structure of this embodiment as described above, during recording or reproduction, the medium sliding surface S1. of the magnetic head main body IO in FIG. S
When the medium rotating with respect to 2 slides in the direction a, the roller 14 rotates in contact with the medium, and this rotation allows the medium to slide more smoothly between the medium sliding surfaces Sl and S2 than before. . As a result, deflection of the medium is less likely to occur, waviness and vibration due to deflection of the medium are reduced, and the amount of spacing is less likely to fluctuate and can be kept small, thereby stabilizing and improving the characteristics of the magnetic head. Furthermore, since the amount of spacing can be kept small in this way, it is not necessary to increase the pressing force with which the magnetic head is pressed against the medium, and the durability of the medium can be improved.

According to the structure of this embodiment as described above, the roller 14 rotates in contact with the medium sliding against the head, as in the case of the first embodiment, and the rotation causes the medium and the medium sliding surface S1,
The sliding movement with S2 becomes smoother, the deflection of the medium is less likely to occur, and the same effect can be obtained. Moreover, in this embodiment, by making the recording/reproducing core 1 smaller and shortening the magnetic path, it is possible to cope with higher density recording.
