Generally, in a copying machine, paper is conveyed in the left-right direction inside the copying machine, and the insertion direction of the paper feed cassette and the paper feeding direction are the same direction. In contrast, the conventional copying machine is constructed so that the paper feed cassette can be inserted from either the left or right direction of the copying machine.

Therefore, it has the disadvantage that the place where it can be installed is restricted, and the operation of inserting and removing the paper feed cassette from left to right is very difficult and difficult, making the copying work complicated. This method has the disadvantage that the paper in the paper feed cassette cannot be properly sorted during paper feeding, and multiple sheets may be fed at the same time, which may cause a paper jam. .

This invention eliminates the drawbacks of the conventional copying machine as described above, and allows the paper feed cassette to be inserted from the front of the copying machine, thereby freeing up the space originally reserved for operating the copying machine. This makes it possible to reduce the installation space of a copying machine by making effective use of the paper, and also prevents the possibility of paper jams by ensuring that the paper is properly fanned during paper feeding so that only one sheet is fed. It is an object of the present invention to provide a paper feeding device for a copying machine that can greatly simplify copying operations.

In this invention, a storage chamber for a paper feed cassette is opened in the front face of a copying machine in which paper is conveyed in the left-right direction, and the side surface of the paper feed cassette loaded in the storage chamber is pressed in surface contact so that the paper feed cassette is stored in the storage chamber. A biasing member located at the front side of the chamber in the paper conveyance direction is disposed, and the uppermost sheet in the paper feed cassette is placed in the vicinity of the storage chamber on the front side of the copying machine in the paper conveyance direction. A copying machine characterized by being provided with a handling member consisting of an endless belt that contacts the top surface of the sheet and pulls it out, and a load roller that presses the endless belt and contacts the bottom surface of the top sheet that has been pulled out. This constitutes the machine's paper feeding device.

It is fed out from the paper feed cassette 50 by rotating in the direction of the arrow from the rest position shown, and at this time
When two or more sheets are fed out at a time, only one sheet is separated by a separating member 61 provided near the leading edge of the sheet feeding cassette 50 in the sheet feeding direction. That is, as shown in FIG. 7, the sorting member 61 is an endless belt 65 with a large friction coefficient that is stretched around rollers 62, 63 and a tension roller 64 and rotates at the same speed as the paper feeding speed of the paper feeding roller 11.
and a load roller 66 with a small friction coefficient, which is disposed so as to be able to contact the lower surface of the endless belt 65 and is driven to rotate by the contact friction force with the endless belt 65 when in contact with the lower surface of the endless belt 65. When sheets are fed in a stack of more than one sheet and the leading edge of the sheet enters the separating member 61, the uppermost sheet is moved by the endless belt 65 because its upper surface contacts the lower surface of the endless belt 65. However, the sheets other than the topmost sheet, that is, the sheets other than the topmost sheet, are subjected to a load due to the topmost sheet entering between the endless belt 65 and the load roller 66. Since the roller 66 no longer rotates due to the frictional force of contact with the endless belt 65, further movement is prevented by the load roller 66, and as a result, only the uppermost sheet is separated and moved. .

3. The paper passes through the U-turn roller 12, the nip roller 14, the loop section paper guide plate 17, the secondary paper feed roller (registration roller) 15, and passes through the gap between the paper guide plate 19 and the transfer opening paper guide plate 18 to the transfer section. The toner image is transferred from the surface of the photoreceptor drum 1 by a transfer corona discharger 6, separated from the surface of the photoreceptor drum 1 by a separation corona discharger 7, and fixed via a paper guide plate 9. After the transferred image is fixed in the device 10, it is ejected from the device by a paper ejection roller 16, and only one sheet of paper is fed without feeding the paper from the paper feed cassette 50. Copying is also possible when one sheet of paper is fed by the paper feed guide plate 20.

ある。 As shown in FIG. 6, this copying machine is provided with an insertion opening 30 for a paper feed cassette 50 on the front surface, and the inside of the insertion opening 30 is surrounded by walls 21 and 2 as shown in FIG.
2 and 26 to accommodate the storage chamber 27 of the paper feed cassette 50.
The left wall 26 of the storage chamber 27 is provided with springs 24 and 25 on the machine frame 23 to press the paper cassette 50 against the right wall 21 and position it accurately. It is being
The paper feed cassette 50 is provided with a handle 58 on the front side, as shown in FIGS.
Partition plate 5 that forms a wall according to the size of paper

Therefore, when the paper feed roller 11 is at the rest position shown in FIG. 1, a gap is formed between the paper feed roller 11 and the paper feed cassette 50 due to the downwardly facing notch 11a. Therefore, there is no risk of the paper feeding cassette 50 getting caught when being inserted or removed.

By configuring this invention as described above,
You can use the space on the front side of the copying machine that is reserved from the beginning to operate the copying machine, and you can insert and remove paper from the paper cassette. It is possible to reliably feed only one sheet in the right and left direction of the copying machine, which is perpendicular to each other. This eliminates the need to secure space on the side of the copying machine for inserting a paper feed cassette, reducing the installation space of the copying machine. Can be made smaller. Furthermore, the loaded paper cassette is positioned at a predetermined position in the storage chamber by the biasing member, and the biasing member presses the paper cassette in surface contact with the side surface of the paper cassette. Since it is perpendicular to the paper feeding direction, positioning can be performed reliably, and the paper can be reliably conveyed one by one by being positioned adjacent to the separating member. Furthermore, since operations for inserting and removing paper feed cassettes can be performed in the same position as the copying operation, operability is greatly improved.
