In the production of glass fiber, several hundred single glass fibers (filaments) with a diameter of about 10 to 15 μm are bundled to form a raw thread (strand), which is then wound into a roughly cylindrical shape of a predetermined size for convenience of handling. There is.

For example, when producing glass fiber for IAM reinforced plastic, in order to produce glass fiber of a predetermined thickness, raw threads are drawn from each of an appropriate number of cakes, and these are combined into one. It is rolled up into one roving. That is, the number of cakes to which raw yarn is simultaneously supplied to one roving is determined depending on how many raw yarns the required yarn thickness corresponds to. In the process, the required number of cakes for each roving is arranged on a cake shelf called a creel shelf, and the yarn is forcibly wound from each cake using a winder.

The threads on the outer surface of the cake may be discolored due to heat treatment during the manufacturing process. The thread that will not be wound onto the roving is supplied from the inner surface of the cake, so if you do not want to supply discolored thread to the roving, when the amount of remaining thread reaches a certain value, remove the old cake. It is necessary to replace the cake with a new one and tie the old and new threads together.

Further, even if there is no need to take into account discoloration of the thread, when the thread runs out, the next cake must be placed in a predetermined position on the creel shelf without delay and the old and new threads must be tied together. and,
The work of exchanging the old and new cakes, setting up the new cakes, and tying the new and old threads was done in thousands of steps by a worker who was monitoring the process.

In the roving process, for example, several dozen cakes are often set for one roving, and the creel shelf typically has several tiers of such series. Therefore, one worker is in charge of a large number of cakes, and tying old and new threads when setting and replacing cakes is difficult! 71 speed was required, which resulted in severe fatigue for the workers, which was a problem. Furthermore, since the yarn is a glass knitted wire, it easily breaks, and manual splicing was originally very difficult.

(Function) The first thread and the second thread are set on the air splicer, and both threads are fixed by a pair of fixing means at positions on both sides of the air splicer. At this point, the air splicer operates and splices both yarns together. Next, the first thread operating means sets one end of the first thread to the first cutting means, and the first cutting means sets one end of the first thread to the first cutting means.
Cut one end of the thread. Next, one end of the second yarn opposite to one end of the first yarn with the air splicer in between,
The second thread operating means or the second cutting means is set, and the second cutting means cuts one end of the second thread. As a result, both threads are integrated into one from the other end of the first thread to the other end of the second thread.

Next, as shown in FIG. 5, a yarn splicing device 60 is provided on the base 18. This yarn splicing device 60 is interlocked with a timing belt 61 driven by a motor (not shown), and moves in a direction parallel to the moving direction A of the moving device 8, that is, in a direction perpendicular to the sliding direction ports of the setting devices A and B. Can be moved. Then, it is driven in synchronization with the handling of the old and new cakes 2 by the setting devices A and B, and the old cake 2b
The structure is such that it is possible to connect the raw threads of the new cake 2a and the raw threads of the new cake 2a, and to cut unnecessary raw threads.

In this example, in order to prevent the discolored threads on the outer surface of the cake 2 from entering the product, only the threads were drawn out from the inner surface of the cake 2 to a certain extent, and the weight of the cake became lighter than a certain limit. By the way, the old cake 2b and the new cake 2a are exchanged. The weight of the old cake 2b, which is the limit for replacement, should be determined to the extent that there is a small possibility that the discolored thread will be sent out in a low pink color, and also in consideration of the yield as a material.

The weight of each cake 2 in the creel shelf 1 is measured by a load cell, and the measurement data is sent to the ground-1 control panel 4.
The data is sent to a four-stage control panel such as a personal computer (not shown) via the controller. The ground control panel 4 is adapted to make decisions such as whether to replace the cake or to cut the thread based on these weight data. In other words, if the weight of the cake falls below the set value, it will be replaced, and if the weight of the cake decreases for a certain period of time, it will be assumed that the thread has broken and the thread has stopped feeding. to decide. Then, the ground control panel 4 controls the n7+ cake exchange device 6 based on this determination.
It is configured to control the process, perform regular cake exchange, and respond to abnormal situations such as thread breakage.

To explain this in detail, the base 18 shown in FIG. 3 moves up and down,
The fork plate 54 of the setting device A is positioned slightly above the new cake 2a to be taken out. Next, as shown in FIG. 6(B) and FIG. 7(B), the telescopic arm 52
and extend the fork plate 54 toward the new cake 2a. That is, when the drive cylinder 31 extends the lot, the slide plate 34 and the base plate 36 move forward together with the movable cover 45. Since the belt 39 on the substrate 36 is fixed at one position, the belt 39 is forcibly rotated as the substrate 36 and the like slide. That is, the slide plate 34 moves forward with respect to the base 18, and the connecting plate 41 further moves forward with respect to the slide plate 34. As a result, the connecting plate 4
The telescoping arm 52 connected to the heald 39 via the heald 39 moves the outer rail member 49 forward with respect to the guide roller 48 of the take-up plate 47, and moves the outer rail member 49 forward with respect to the outer rail member 49. The inner rail member 51 with the fork plate 54 will slide further forward9.In this way, since the setting devices A and B have a converter configuration with a short overall length, the held I was able to create a stroke using a two-stage telescoping structure that uses a boom. Then, when the fork plate 54 enters L) of the new cake 2a, move the base 18 slightly and lift the new cake 2a. It is pulled in by the action of

Next, in FIG. 5, the yarn splicing device 60 is moved to a position in front of the setting device A, and the area cut yarn 100 is taken into the yarn splicing device 60 via the guide member 67. FIG. 12 shows the state of the yarn splicing device 60 at this time. In addition, when a job change is performed in the roving process, some cakes in the stopped stage may have an amount of yarn remaining that can be used continuously. In such a case, the apparatus of this embodiment may be used to supply the unused cake to the operating stage at any time. In addition to this usage, the device of this embodiment can also be used for setting cakes. In that case, two cakes can be conveyed to and set on the creel shelves at a time using two setting devices.

(Effects of the Invention) According to the present invention, splicing is performed by fixing both ends of two threads set on an air splicer with a fixing means, and further, by removing unnecessary portions of both threads using a thread manipulating means and a cutting means. It connects two threads. Therefore, according to the present invention, it is possible to mechanize the work of splicing easily foldable glass fiber threads, and work efficiency can be greatly improved.
