与する後輪用出力軸と、この後輪用出力軸を軸方
向に亙り変位させる電動モータと、車速を検出す
る車速センサと、前記電動モータの回転駆動軸と
前記後輪用出力軸との間に設けられ、電気的に断
接するクラツチと、前記後輪用出力軸の変位に基
づいて後輪に付与された舵角を検出する変位セン
サと、前記舵角センサと車速センサとからの信号
に基づいて、前記電動モータへの通電及び前記ク
ラツチの断接を制御する制御器と、前記電動モー
タの発熱程度を求める検出手段とを有し、前記後
輪の操舵中心をこの後輪の着力点よりも車両の前
進方向後方に位置させると共に、前記後輪用出力
軸を車体に対し、軸方向に亙る若干の変位を自在
として弾性的に支持して成り、前記制御器が、前
記車速センサにより検出される車速が一定値以下
の場合にのみ、前記クラツチを繋いで、電動モー
タへの通電に基づく後輪への舵角付与を自在とす
る第一の機能と、前記検出手段により求められる
電動モータの温度が一定値を越えた場合で、且つ
後輪に舵角が付与されている場合に、この舵角を
徐々に減少させる第二の機能とを有する四輪操舵
