[Prior Art and Problems to be Solved by the Invention] Liquid crystal display devices generally use a liquid crystal cell in which liquid crystal is filled between two substrates with electrodes provided on opposing surfaces. If liquid crystal adheres to the outside of a single substrate, not only will it not be possible to obtain a clear display screen, but it may also have an adverse effect on other electronic components, so it must be removed.

The hydrocarbon used in the present invention has 8 to 20 carbon atoms,
And the viscosity at 20°C is 0.5 to 10 cp. If the number of carbon atoms in the hydrocarbon is less than 8 or the viscosity is less than 0.5 cp, the hydrocarbon is highly flammable and safety during cleaning becomes a problem. On the other hand, if the carbon number exceeds 20 or the viscosity exceeds 1Ocp, cleaning of narrow gaps will not be sufficient, which is not preferable. Particularly preferred viscosity range is 0.5 to 5
It is cp.

The amount of surfactant added is desirably about 0.01 to 50% by weight, particularly 3 to 40% by weight. If the amount is 0.01% by weight, the cleaning effect of adding the surfactant will not be realized, while if it exceeds 50% by weight, the surfactant will remain on the cleaning surface and affect the properties of the cleaned parts. It may have an impact.

This cell was immersed in the cleaning solution shown in Table 1 at 40° C. for 1 minute, and then subjected to ultrasonic cleaning in the same solution for 5 minutes. Thereafter, the amount of liquid crystal remaining on the glass plate of the cell and around the cell was measured using a polarizing microscope, and the cleanability was evaluated using the following evaluation criteria. Next, the cell was taken out from the cleaning solution and immersed in an ion exchange tank at 40° C. for 1 minute, and the rinsing properties were measured using a polarizing microscope and evaluated according to the following evaluation criteria.
