In other words, an automobile body being transferred within a painting booth completes preparation for painting in a painting preparation zone, moves to an automatic painting zone, and is automatically painted with a reciprocating painting device while moving within the automatic painting zone. After that, it moves to the setting zone, where the solvent is flushed out from the paint film and the coating condition is adjusted, and then it moves to the hand-sprayed painting zone, where correction painting is applied while moving within the hand-sprayed painting zone, and then the setting The solvent is flushed by moving to the cleaning zone.

However, when painting an automobile body with a total length of approximately 5 m while being continuously transported by a conveyor, each zone needs to be approximately 20 m long, so the total length of the painting booth is over 100 m. As a result, the installation space becomes very large, and at the same time, the air conditioning capacity of the air conditioner that supplies clean air into the painting booth and the supply and exhaust capacity of the air supply and exhaust fan become large, which significantly increases equipment costs and running costs. There was a problem.

Furthermore, when painting an object to be painted, such as an automobile body, while being transported by a conveyor, the surface of the paint becomes worse than when painting while the object is stopped, and automatic painting using a manipulator is extremely difficult. Ta.

Therefore, the present invention significantly reduces the installation space by shortening the overall length of the painting booth, and also reduces the capacity and power cost of the air conditioner and supply/exhaust fan that supplies clean air into the painting booth. The objective is to provide a coating method that can significantly reduce the equipment costs and running costs of the entire coating booth, and that also provides a very good coating surface, while also making automatic coating with a manipulator extremely easy. do.

To achieve this objective, the present invention provides a coating method in which objects to be coated transported by a conveyor are sequentially coated in a plurality of coating zones provided in a supply coating booth. The object to be coated is transferred into a supply coating booth by a conveyor that operates during the supply period, and when the object to be coated arrives at each coating zone in the coating booth, the conveyor is stopped and painted. During operation, the flow velocity of clean air supplied into the painting booth is lowered than normal.

According to the present invention, since the object to be coated is stopped and painted in each coating zone, the length of each coating zone is shortened to reduce the total length of the supply and coating booth, thereby saving the installation space of the coating booth. In addition, the coating surface of the coating film becomes extremely good, and automatic coating by a manipulator becomes easy.

In addition, while the conveyor that transfers the object to be coated is operating, the flow speed of clean air supplied into the painting booth is reduced, so the length of the painting booth can be shortened and the size of the painting booth can be reduced. Together, the capacity and power costs of air conditioners and supply/exhaust fans that supply clean air can be significantly reduced.

Floor conveyor 1 that operates intermittently as described above
The automobile body W to be transferred is transferred from the painting preparation zone 3 to the first automatic painting zone 5 by operating the floor conveyor 1 for 1 minute, and when it reaches the zone 5, the floor conveyor 1 is stopped for 1 minute. Automatic painting is then performed by the manipulator 4.

As a result, since the car body W is painted while it is stopped, the length of the automatic painting zone 5 can be shortened to about one-third of the conventional length, and
The coating surface of the coating film becomes very good, and coating by the manipulator 4 can be performed extremely easily without requiring complicated control.

Also, during the one minute period during which this automatic painting is performed,
The wind speed of the clean air flowing into the automatic painting zone 5 is set to about 0.3 m/sec, which is the normal value, to prevent fogging caused by flying up paint mist and settling of dust.

When the manipulator 4 finishes painting after this one minute has passed, the paint mist in the automatic painting zone 5 will no longer fly up, so the wind speed of the clean air flowing into the zone 5 will be reduced to the normal speed (approximately 0.3 m/sec). Note that after painting is completed, it is sufficient to obtain a wind speed sufficient to prevent dust from settling, so the speed can be reduced to about 0.1 m/sec, which is one-third of the normal speed.

As a result, the automobile body W that has been painted in the previous automatic painting zone 5 is transferred to the next automatic painting zone 9.
A total of 3 minutes of flushing time is ensured between the transfer to the container and the start of painting. That is, since the time required for flushing the solvent is usually about 2 minutes and 30 seconds, the flushing is completed within this time.

During this one minute period, the velocity of the clean air flowing into the setting zone 6 is returned to the normal value (approximately 0.3 m/sec) to promote flushing of the solvent, and at the same time 6
This prevents paint mist from entering from the automatic painting zones 5 and 9 adjacent to the automatic painting zones 5 and 9. When one minute has elapsed and the automobile body W starts to be transferred from the setting zone 6 to the second automatic painting zone 9, the wind speed of the clean air flowing into the setting zone 6 is increased to approximately 3 times the normal speed. In addition, although setting zones 6 and 10 are provided between each painting zone in Figure 1, the setting zone between the painting zones is omitted as shown in Figure 2, and the object to be coated is set in the previous painting zone. Even after the painting is finished, the conveyor is stopped for a certain period of time in that painting zone to flush out the solvent, or the object to be painted that has been painted in the previous painting zone is immediately transferred to the next painting zone and transferred to the conveyor. The coating may be started after a certain period of time has elapsed after the solvent flushing is completed.

During this one minute, no painting is performed in either the automatic painting zone 9 or the hand-sprayed painting zone 11.
The wind speed of clean air flowing into the painting booth 2 is reduced to about one-third of the normal speed.

And the car body W is hand-blown painting zone 11
When the time comes, the floor conveyor 1 is stopped for 3 minutes, and when there is only 1 minute left in the stop time, the velocity of the clean air circulating in the coating booth 2 is returned to its normal value, and at the same time, the flushing of the solvent is stopped. Hand-blown correction painting is performed on the completed automobile body W.

When the 3-minute stop time has elapsed, the floor conveyor 1 is operated for 1 minute to transfer the automobile body W that has been painted in the hand-blown coating zone 11 to the setting zone 12, and the automobile body W is transferred to the setting zone 12. 12, the floor conveyor 1 is stopped for 3 minutes to completely flush out the solvent in the coating film.

In this way, not only the length of each zone is shortened, but also a setting zone is not required between coating zones 9 and 11, so that the total length of the coating booth 2 can be made even longer than in the case of FIG. As a result, the installation space is significantly reduced, and the equipment cost and running cost of the entire painting booth 2 are significantly reduced.

As described above, according to the method of the present invention, it is possible to shorten the length of the coating booth and significantly reduce the installation space, and at the same time, the coating surface of the coating film is good, and automatic coating with a manipulator is possible. This has the great effect of making it extremely easy.

Furthermore, while the conveyor is operating and the object to be coated is being transferred, the flow velocity of the clean air supplied into the coating booth is reduced, which saves power for the air conditioner and supply/exhaust fan. It also has the excellent effect of significantly reducing running costs.
