(Prior art) In recent years, in automobile engines, the inertia effect of the intake air is effectively used to increase the filling efficiency of the intake air.
Attempts are being made to increase the output of engines. In this case, it is known that the lower the flow resistance of the intake passage and the longer the passage length, the higher the intake inertia effect. Therefore, in order to ensure a higher level of intake air filling efficiency, , it is necessary to configure the intake manifold so that an intake passage as long as possible can be obtained.

However, when the intake manifold is configured as described above, if the engine is an in-line engine, a relatively large space can be secured on the side of the engine when the engine is mounted in the engine room of the automobile. Although it is easy to install an intake manifold with a passage configuration like Therefore, it is difficult to mount the intake manifold on the side of the engine as in the above-mentioned in-line engine. For this reason, V-type engines generally have a pair of left and right intake manifolds connected to each cylinder of both left and right banks of the engine in a state where they cross each other, as disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 59-115460. By arranging it in the idle space formed between the left and right banks, that is, the central space of the V bank, the intake passage is made to be longer.

It is desirable that the pair of left and right intake manifolds be integrally formed from the viewpoint of ensuring good assembly to the engine body. It was customary to integrally mold the manifold by casting.

On the other hand, engine cooling water is normally returned to the radiator via the cylinder block and cylinder head, and for this purpose a water jacket and its outlet are formed in the cylinder head (in practice). (Refer to Publication No. 1983-35645).

Since such piping for returning cooling water from the cylinder head to the radiator is quite long, it is desirable to use only one piping as much as possible from the viewpoint of space saving and cost. From this point of view, in a V-type engine that has two left and right banks, that is, two left and right cylinder heads, the cooling water from both cylinder heads is once collected in the integrally molded intake manifold as described above. It is common practice to connect a pipe extending from the radiator, that is, a common pipe, to this gathering part.

(Problem to be solved by the invention) However, as mentioned above, when a pair of left and right intake manifolds are integrally molded by casting in a state where they intersect with each other, the parting line of the product is complicated, so it is usually If die-cutting molding is adopted, there will be a large number of undercut parts, and the number of post-processing steps such as cutting will increase, reducing the advantages of casting molding. When a core molding method is adopted, there are problems in that the work becomes complicated, mass production becomes difficult, and manufacturing costs increase.

Therefore, the purpose of the present invention is to make it possible to easily manufacture an intake manifold and reduce costs, while also allowing cooling water from both left and right banks to be returned to the radiator through a single pipe, that is, a common pipe. (Means and effects for solving the problem) In order to achieve the above-mentioned object, the present invention basically makes the intake manifold for the left bank and the intake manifold for the right bank independent of each other. By separately forming the intake manifold, the entire intake manifold can be manufactured easily and its cost can be reduced.

In addition, by configuring intake manifolds for both banks individually, the cooling water from both banks is guided to the cooling water pipes integrally formed at one end of the corresponding intake manifold, and the outlet of this cooling water pipe is are located close to each other so as to be next to each other. Then, a collecting member is connected to these parallel outlet portions, and the cooling water from both banks (both intake manifolds) is collected within this collecting member,
This collected cooling water is returned to the radiator.

When manufacturing such a manifold assembly 9 in which the first intake manifold 20 and the second intake manifold 40 are arranged in a manner that crosses each other, the first intake manifold 20 and the second intake manifold 40 are arranged as described above. If a method is adopted in which the first intake manifold 20 and the second intake manifold 40 are joined together in a crossing state after being cast separately, the manifold assembly 9 Compared to the case of integral casting, the parting line of the product is easier,
Since there are almost no undercut parts, the easy-to-operate punch molding method can be applied, and the casting molding work is simplified compared to the case where the core molding method has to be adopted.

For both the intake manifolds 20, 40,
At one end thereof, that is, on the side where the cooling water pipes 23, 43 are located, one collecting member 52 is fixed using bolts 51 (see FIG. 2). This gathering member 52 has two inlets, a first inlet 52A and a second inlet 52B, and one outlet 52C that is connected to both the inlets 52A and 5B. In the fixed state, the inlet 52A is the second inlet. 1 Intake manifold 2
Connected to the outlet 23b of the cooling water pipe 23 at 0,
Further, the inlet 52B is connected to the outlet 43b of the cooling water pipe 43 in the second intake manifold 40. A common pipe 53 extending from a radiator (not shown) and consisting of a heat-resistant flexible tube is connected and fixed to the outlet 53C by a band 54. As a result, the cooling water from the first bank 2A is transferred to the first intake manifold 20.
The cooling water from the second bank 2B is led to the collecting member 52 through the cooling water pipe 23 of the second intake manifold 40, and the cooling water from the second bank 2B is led to the collecting member 52 through the cooling water pipe 43 of the second intake manifold 40. The collected cooling water from both banks 2A and 2B is led to the radiator through one common pipe 53.

(Effects of the invention) As is clear from the above, the invention has the following effects:
Since the intake manifolds are separately formed for the left and right banks, there are fewer undercuts compared to when the two intake manifolds are integrally cast, and post-processing such as cutting after casting is required. In addition, because there are few undercuts, it is possible to apply the normal die casting method that does not use a core, and the workability of the casting work is improved, making manufacturing easier and reducing manufacturing costs. A great effect can be obtained in this respect.

Furthermore, since the cooling water from both banks can be returned to the radiator through one common pipe, there is no problem in terms of piping space and cost. Of course, since the collecting member that collects the cooling water from both banks is formed separately from the first and second intake manifolds, the structure of the intake manifold itself is simplified as much as possible. Therefore, it is even more advantageous in terms of manufacturing.

Furthermore, since cooling water pipes are integrally formed at one end of each of the first and second intake manifolds, an installation structure in which the cooling water pipes are formed separately and attached to the cylinder head is adopted. Compared to the above, there is no need for mounting flanges, fastening bolts, etc. for the cooling water pipes, and the length of the cooling water pipes in the cylinder row direction can be reduced by the length thereof, so that the engine can be shortened in the cylinder row direction.

さらにまた、第1、第2の両吸気マニホルドの

Furthermore, cooling water pipes are integrally formed at one end of each of the first and second intake manifolds, and the exits of the cooling water pipes are connected in close proximity so that they are adjacent to each other. from,
When assembling, both intake manifolds can be handled as one unit, and the respective cooling water pipe outlets of both intake manifolds can also be handled as one unit, and the assembly of both intake manifolds can be facilitated. The assembly member can be easily fixed to each cooling water pipe outlet of both intake manifolds.

Moreover, for the above-mentioned reason, both intake manifolds are reinforced with each other via the cooling water pipes, and despite the structure in which separate intake manifolds are used, it is not possible to improve the rigidity of both intake manifolds. can.
