Various types of grindstones with abrasives embedded in binders have been developed. However, since grindstones are hard and cannot be deformed, they cannot be used to polish uneven surfaces. Furthermore, since the grindstone has an abrasive embedded in the binder, there is a drawback that the strength decreases when the mixing ratio of the abrasive is increased. A whetstone that is not strong enough
Cannot rotate at high speed, reducing polishing efficiency. For this reason, the grindstone has the disadvantage that it is not possible to increase the mixing ratio of the abrasive. As a polishing roll that eliminates the drawbacks of grindstones, a polishing roll in which a plurality of polishing disks are stacked has been developed (Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 188676/1988). This polishing roll uses a polishing disk made of flexible base threads braided into a mesh pattern. On the surface of the base yarn,
Abrasive material is attached to increase the polishing power.
A polishing roll with this structure can have a larger amount of abrasive material attached than a grindstone. Therefore, the initial polishing force can be increased. However, there is a drawback that the abrasive material attached to the surface of the base thread easily falls off, and the abrasive power decreases after use. If a polishing disc is made by braiding abrasive threads that do not allow the abrasive to fall off and has excellent polishing power, and the discs are laminated to form a polishing roll, a polishing roll with a long life can be realized. An abrasive thread from which the abrasive material does not easily fall off is disclosed in JP-A-53-47091. In order to strengthen the abrasive power of this abrasive thread,
A countless number of abrasive materials are embedded inside the abrasive thread. That is, in the step of mixing an abrasive material with a synthetic resin raw material for forming an abrasive thread and forming the thread, the abrasive material is inserted into the thread. An abrasive thread with this structure has superior abrasive power compared to a thread in which no abrasive material is embedded inside. In particular, the polishing force of the polishing thread having this structure can be increased by increasing the filling rate of the polishing material. However, when the abrasive thread with this structure increases the filling rate of the abrasive material,
The strength of the thread is significantly reduced. Therefore, the strength required of the abrasive thread limits the amount of abrasive material to be filled. The abrasive thread that can actually be used is limited to a filling amount of abrasive material of 40% or less. If more abrasive material is filled, the tensile strength of the abrasive thread will be significantly reduced.
It cannot be used as a polishing brush. A technique for firmly adhering an abrasive material to the surface of the base yarn has also been developed (Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 4697/1983). This abrasive thread is used to bond the abrasive material more firmly.
Short fibers are mixed into a binder that attaches the abrasive to the base yarn. The short fibers firmly bind the binder layer mixed with the abrasive material. However, short fibers cannot strongly adhere the abrasive to the base yarn. For this reason, even if short fibers are mixed and an abrasive material is attached to the surface of the fibers, it is not possible to effectively prevent the abrasive material from falling off from the base yarn. Further, in the abrasive thread having this structure, the abrasive material is exposed on the surface, and the abrasive material creates countless irregularities on the surface of the fiber. This unevenness makes it easy for the abrasive to fall off during use. This is because the abrasive threads rub against each other during use. Polishing threads having a synthetic resin film on their surfaces have been developed to prevent the abrasive material from falling off even when the threads rub against each other (Japanese Patent Publication No. 3498/1983). The abrasive thread disclosed in this publication can prevent wear of the abrasive thread due to friction. However, like the above-mentioned abrasive thread, the abrasive thread disclosed in this publication cannot be filled with a large amount of abrasive material because the abrasive material is embedded inside the thread during the manufacturing process. This device was developed with the aim of eliminating these drawbacks of conventional polishing rolls. The important purpose of this device is to have excellent polishing power, and to have a low initial polishing power. The object of the present invention is to provide an ideal polishing roll that continues until worn out and has a sufficient lifespan.

Before developing the polishing roll of this invention, the present inventor developed a polishing thread that can firmly adhere an abrasive material (Japanese Patent Publication No. 53-28675). This polishing thread is
In order to strongly adhere the abrasive material, the surface of the thread serving as the base material thread is provided with irregularities. Compared to fibers with a smooth surface, the base yarn with irregularities allows the abrasive to adhere to it in a state where it is less likely to fall off. Therefore, this polishing thread can have a long service life. However, this abrasive thread has the disadvantage that it is necessary to manufacture synthetic resin fibers with a special structure, which increases the cost of the base fibers. Furthermore, there was also the drawback that there were restrictions on the unevenness provided on the surface of the fibers. That is, since the fibers are extruded and molded using a mold, the surfaces of the fibers are provided with protrusions and grooves to create unevenness, which has the disadvantage that unevenness cannot be formed in the longitudinal direction of the fibers. For this reason, the effect of improving the adhesion of the abrasive material due to the unevenness was not fully satisfactory. The inventor of this invention managed to make effective use of this technology to develop a technology that firmly adheres the abrasive material.
We repeated a huge number of prototypes. As a result, we succeeded in commercializing a polishing roll with an extremely simple structure, excellent polishing power, durability, and sufficient polishing power even when worn. In other words, conventional methods aim to strongly attach the abrasive to the fibers or increase the strength of the abrasive thread itself, but this invention aims to attach the abrasive to the surface of the abrasive attached to the base material. The resulting unevenness is effectively used to strengthen the bond between the abrasives. That is, the polishing disk used in the polishing roll of this invention is provided on the irregularities formed on the surface of the polishing grain layer 3, and the surface layer 4 is provided in close contact with the irregularities, and the polishing grain layer 3 is firmly bonded by the surface layer 4. It is something that makes you In other words, unevenness is provided on the inner surface of the cylindrical surface layer 4, the abrasive grain layer 3 is provided with an unevenness that exactly matches the unevenness, and the unevenness of the abrasive grain layer 3 and the surface layer 4 are fitted into each other without any problems. This is to firmly bond the abrasive grain layer 3.

In the polishing roll using the polishing disk 1 having this structure, the base yarn 2 is not required to have high strength. Since the strength of the abrasive yarn is achieved by both the central base yarn 2 and the surface layer 4, the surface layer 4 can be made thicker to significantly increase the tensile strength. Further, even if the abrasive grain layer 3 is thick, it can be attached without falling off because it is sandwiched between the base thread 2 and the surface layer 4. Therefore, the polishing force can be increased and the life span can be extended. Furthermore, the noteworthy feature of the abrasive thread with this structure is that the thickness of the base thread 2, the amount of abrasive material attached, and the thickness of the surface layer 4 can be adjusted to achieve the abrasive force required of the abrasive roll. , Durability and polishing power under wear conditions can be adjusted to the optimum conditions for the application. That is, in order to increase the abrasive power, a large amount of abrasive material may be attached to the surface of the base thread. Even if a large amount of abrasive is attached, the outer side is covered with a surface layer with matching irregularities and is attached to this, so it can be firmly bonded and the durability will not deteriorate. In addition, in order to increase the polishing force in a worn state, it is sufficient to use a base yarn that is easily worn.
An ideal base thread should wear out when the abrasive material attached to its surface loses its abrasive power. That is, if the base yarn is too strong, it will not wear out even if the abrasive material on the surface loses its abrasive power, and the abrasive power will decrease. The polishing thread used in the polishing roll of this invention can be made stronger by using a material that is weak as a base material thread. This is because both the base yarn and the surface layer achieve strong strength. Therefore, as mentioned above, the strength of the base yarn is
It can be adjusted to match the lifespan of the abrasive material. Therefore, a long-life polishing roll can be realized without reducing the polishing power of the polishing thread.

Hereinafter, embodiments of this invention will be described based on the drawings. However, the example shown below is an example of a polishing roll for embodying the technical idea of this invention, and the polishing roll of this invention has the following components: It is not structure specific. Various changes can be made to the polishing roll of this invention within the scope of the claims for utility model registration. Furthermore, in order to make it easier to understand the scope of claims for utility model registration, this specification includes numbers corresponding to the members shown in the examples in the "column of claims for utility model registration",
Additional notes are added to the members shown in the "Column of Means for Solving Conventional Problems" and the "Column of Functions and Effects."
However, the members shown in the scope of the utility model registration claims are by no means limited to the members of the embodiments. The polishing roll shown in FIG. 1 has a roll shape in which a plurality of polishing disks 1 are stacked. The polishing disk 1 has a disk-like overall shape. The polishing disk 1 is made by braiding flexible base threads 2 in a checkerboard pattern to form a sheet, which is then cut into a disk shape. The polishing disk 1 is provided with a through hole in the center. A through hole is inserted into the cylinder 5 and the cylinders are stacked in a roll shape. Flanges 6 are provided at both ends of the cylindrical body 5 to sandwich the stacked polishing disks 1 therebetween. The polishing roll having this structure can also be formed into a roll shape without adhering the stacked polishing disks 1. Preferably, the stacked polishing disks 1 are adhered to each other via a synthetic resin foam 7. As the synthetic resin foam 7, a foam made of urethane resin, phenol resin, or the like can be used. When bonding the polishing disks 1 with the synthetic resin foam 7, an unfoamed, uncured synthetic resin is applied between the stacked polishing disks 1, and this is placed in a roll-shaped mold to allow the synthetic resin to foam. and harden. The foaming ratio of the synthetic resin is adjusted to an optimum value in consideration of the required adhesive strength and void ratio. When the foaming ratio is high, the adhesive strength of the polishing disk 1 becomes weak, but the void ratio becomes high. On the other hand, when the expansion ratio decreases, the adhesive strength decreases, but the porosity decreases. The void in the synthetic resin foam prevents clogging during use. Therefore, a polishing roll with many vacancies has the advantage of being able to polish efficiently. In this manner, the polishing roll to which the polishing disk 1 is bonded with foamed synthetic resin has a heat insulating effect because the foamed synthetic resin prevents the frictional heat generated on the outer periphery during polishing from penetrating into the core. Furthermore, if closed-cell foamed synthetic resin is used, it has no water permeability and can prevent moisture from penetrating inside. For this reason, it has the advantage that water does not seep into the interior when used in wet conditions. Furthermore, the synthetic resin foam that adheres the polishing disk 1 has the advantage of preventing the fibers of the polishing disk from rubbing against each other, thereby preventing the abrasive material from falling off. As shown in FIG. 3, the base yarn 2 constituting the polishing disk 1 has an abrasive material attached to its surface to provide an abrasive grain layer 3, and the surface of the abrasive grain layer 3 has:
A surface layer 4 is applied. The base yarn 2 includes flexible synthetic resin fibers,
For example, glass fiber, carbon fiber, polyethylene fiber, polypropylene fiber, polystyrene fiber,
Nylon fiber etc. can be used. The base yarn 2 may include a multifilament made of a plurality of fine fibers, or a
Monofilament, which is a book fiber, is used. Multifilament glass fiber is used as the most suitable fiber for the base yarn 2. This fiber has high elasticity and is easily worn out, so that a polishing roll with excellent polishing ability can be realized. That is, when glass fiber is used for the base thread 2, when the abrasive grain layer 3 attached to the surface is worn out and consumed, the base thread 2 is broken and quickly worn out. In other words, the parts that have lost their polishing power are quickly worn away, and the parts that always have excellent polishing power are exposed on the surface of the polishing roll.
This is the reason why the polishing roll has good sharpness. The polishing disk 1 adjusts the material and thickness of the base thread 2 to achieve the optimal polishing power and lifespan for the application. The abrasive material of the abrasive particle layer 3 attached to the surface of the base thread 2 usually has a particle size of 20 to 3000, preferably 30 to 3000.
Number 1000 is used. Usually, large particles of abrasive are attached to the thick base thread 2, and small particles are attached to the thin fibers. The amount of adhesion of the abrasive material is adjusted in consideration of the polishing force required of the polishing roll. Usually, the amount of the abrasive attached is adjusted to be 0.2 to 10 times, preferably 0.5 to 5 times, the weight of the base yarn 2. An abrasive material is attached to the surface of the base thread 2 using a binder to form an abrasive grain layer 3. The abrasive grain layer 3 is attached to the surface of the base thread 2 in a state where the surface is uneven. Therefore, a binder is applied to the surface of the base yarn 2, and an abrasive is attached to the surface while the binder is in an uncured state. In order to thicken the abrasive grain layer 3, apply the binder and the abrasive material alternately.
The abrasive material is applied in multiple layers. As the binder to which the abrasive is attached, epoxy, urethane, or phenol adhesives may be used alone or in combination. The surface layer 4 is provided by applying synthetic resin to the surface of the abrasive grain layer 3. The thickness of the surface layer 4 is adjusted to an optimum value in consideration of the unevenness of the abrasive grain layer 3 and the required strength. When the abrasive grain layer 3 has large irregularities, the surface layer 4 is thickened to make the surface of the abrasive thread smooth. The thickness of the surface layer 4 is usually 0.1 to 2 mm, preferably 0.3 mm.
It is adjusted within the range of ~1mm.
