(57) [Summary] [Purpose] To allow the user to recognize the open / closed state of the cover without adding new parts. [Structure] When the upper document guide plate 8 is opened, a document presence sensor 9, a document size detection sensor 10 and a document length detection sensor
The actuator 15 of each of the 11 sensors is a torsion coil spring.
As it is urged by 16 in the direction opposite to the document transport direction,
The outputs of these sensors are held OFF. But,
The actuator 20 of the manuscript page shortening sensor 17 swings clockwise in the drawing to a position where the weight of the manuscript 20 is balanced by the amount by which the upper manuscript guide plate 8 is opened and tilted, and the light shield 20a functions as a light emitting part and a light receiving part. Since the light from the light emitting portion is incident on the light receiving portion, the output of the document page shortening sensor 17 changes from OFF to O.
Become N. That is, the open / closed state of the cover can be detected by detecting the change in the inclination of the actuator 20 of the document page shortening sensor 17.

Roller 2 is a paper feed roller that conveys the original drawn by pickup roller 1. 3 is a paper feed roller 2 that conveys only the bottom original in the figure when a plurality of originals are drawn from a bundle of originals. , Separation rollers 4 for preventing the conveyance of other documents, and two document conveyance rollers 4 for feeding the document sent from the paper feed roller 2 to the facsimile apparatus,
Reference numeral 5 is two pressure rollers for pressing the original document against the original document feeding roller 4, reference numeral 6 is a lower original document guide plate on the carry-in side installed so that the upper parts of the picked-up roller 1 and the paper feed roller 2 that are raised project. An unloading-side lower document guide plate installed so that the upper part of the document transport roller 5 slightly projects, and 8 is a separation roller 3 at a position facing the paper feed roller 2 and a document transport roller 4
The upper document guide plate is provided with the pressure roller 5 at a position opposed to the upper document guide plate. The upper document guide plate 8 is rotatably supported on the carry-out side. Reference numeral 9 denotes a document presence / absence sensor that detects whether or not the document is on the document table, and 10 is a document size detection sensor that detects the size of the document based on the width of the document on the document table. A4
This is installed when the facsimile machine is capable of transmitting both a B4 size document and a B4 size document. 11 is a document length detection sensor for detecting the leading edge and trailing edge of the document to control the start and end of reading of the document, and 12 is the document page shortening that detects whether the trailing edge of the document is missing or not. The sensor detects the trailing edge of the document already fed by the document page shortening sensor 12, and when the output is turned off, the next document is immediately fed so that the interval between the documents sequentially fed can be increased. In order to save the communication charge when sending many originals, the original length detection sensor 11 detects the trailing edge of the original in a facsimile machine without the original page shortening sensor 12. Since the next original is fed when it is detected, the interval between the original pages is shortened by the installation interval between the original page shortening sensor 12 and the original length detection sensor 11, and the communication fee increases.

The output of each of the 12 sensors is turned on (see FIG. 3). After the document passes, the torsion coil spring 16 pushes down the actuator 15 in the counterclockwise direction in the figure, and the light shield 15a is inserted between the light emitting portion and the light receiving portion. When the light is not incident on the light receiving portion, the outputs of the original presence sensor 9, the original size detecting sensor 10, the original length detecting sensor 11, and the original page shortening sensor 12 are turned off (see FIG. 3). Further, even if the upper document guide plate 8 is opened when the document is jammed or the like, the torsion coil spring 16 causes the actuator 15 to move.
Since the document is urged in the direction opposite to the document conveyance direction, the outputs of the sensors of the document presence / absence sensor 9, the document size detection sensor 10, the document length detection sensor 11, and the document page shortening sensor 12 are OF.
It is held at F (see FIG. 6).

Second detecting means biased in the opposite direction is provided, and the change of the inclination of the swinging members of the first detecting means and the second detecting means contacting the original is detected to detect the original. The presence / absence of the document, the size of the document, and the like are identified, and the change in the inclination of the swinging member of the first detection unit when the cover is closed and half-opened is detected to detect the open / closed state of the cover.

By simply attaching the biased second detection means, the open / closed state of the cover can be detected without increasing the manufacturing cost of the automatic document feeder. As a result, even in a low-priced facsimile apparatus or the like, the cover opening / closing detecting means can be attached, and it becomes possible to prevent the double feeding of originals which collectively send out a plurality of originals.

When the output of the document page shortening sensor 17 is OFF, the outputs of the document presence / absence sensor 9, the document size detection sensor 10, and the document length detection sensor 11 are also OFF. Also, the output of the document page shortening sensor 17 is 0 when the document is passing.
When it is N, at least one output of the document presence / absence sensor 9, the document size detection sensor 10 or the document length detection sensor 11 is ON, or all the outputs thereof are ON.

Detects the document by swinging the actuator 15 independently when setting the document and turning it on.
It cannot be used as a means for detecting the open / closed state of the cover. Further, the document length detection sensor 11 also detects whether or not the document has passed by swinging the actuator 15 to turn it on and off each time the document passes, so that the open / close state of the cover is detected. It cannot be used as a means.

An upper document guide plate includes a first sensor in which an actuator is suspended in a swingable manner, and a second sensor in which an actuator in which the swingable suspension is suspended is biased by a torsion coil spring in a direction opposite to the document transport direction. Just by attaching it to, without increasing the manufacturing cost of the automatic document feeder,
It is possible to detect the open / closed state of the cover. As a result, even in a low-priced facsimile device or the like, the cover opening / closing detecting means can be attached, and the opening / closing state of the cover can be notified to the user by the liquid crystal display device or the like. It is possible to prevent double feeding of originals that are sent together.
