Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an on-vehicle projection type television set which does not prevent a driver from making rear side confirmation. CONSTITUTION:A folding screen 1 is maintained in the condition laid down to a ceiling 4 side as shown in a dashed line, so as not to project downward from the ceiling 4, when it is not used. On the other hand, when it is used, the folding screen 1 is maintained in a specific erecting condition as shown in the solid line. By this erecting condition, the folding screen 1 forms a sheet of screen when a passenger 6 or the like at the rear seat 3 observes, and at the same time, a projection type TV main body 2 can project the image correctly on the folding screen 1. Furthermore, this erecting condition makes a driver 5 see that individual screen piece sheets 1a are arranged systematically in the up and down direction placing specific intervals by forming a surface almost parallel to the ceiling 4, when he observes the rear side through a room mirror 7.

When the foldable screen 1 is not used, the foldable screen 1 is held in a state of being tilted to the ceiling 4 side as shown by the alternate long and short dash line in FIG. 1 so as not to project downward from the ceiling 4. Therefore, the folding screen 1 does not hinder the rearward confirmation of the driver 5 and also does not impair the appearance of the vehicle interior.

On the other hand, during use, the retractable screen 1 is held in a predetermined standing state as shown by the solid line in FIG. 1 and FIG. This standing state appears to the passengers 6 and the like in the rear seat 3 as if the foldable screen 1 forms one screen, and at the same time the projection television main body 2 is correctly displayed on the foldable screen 1. In a standing state in which the screen 5 can be projected, and when the rear side is viewed from the driver 5 through the rearview mirror 7, the individual screen piece thin plates 1a form a plane substantially parallel to the ceiling 4 and move up and down. The standing state is such that they appear to be lined up at regular intervals in a certain direction. Therefore, when the retractable screen 1 is in the standing state as described above, the passengers 6 and the like in the rear seat 3 can view the image, while the driver 5 is normally adjacent to each other via the rearview mirror 7.
