Conventionally, fixed rectangular waveguides have been used for microwave transmission to microwave heating devices. However, this fixed waveguide is difficult to change the direction of transmission because changing the transmission direction involves rearranging the waveguide, and especially requires a corner waveguide to bend the transmission direction, so it is difficult to change the direction of the transmission. It requires a lot of installation space. Another problem was that fine adjustment of the flange surface, that is, centering, was extremely difficult.

Therefore, the flexible circular waveguide of this invention is
It has a bellows shape with small circular diameter parts and large circular diameter parts arranged alternately in the axial direction, and when the microwave cutoff wavelength is λc, the inner diameter a of the small circular diameter part and the inner diameter of the large circular diameter part are b is set to λc/1.706≦a≦λc/1.307 b<λc/1.028.

Examples of the present invention will be described below. 1st
The figure shows a part of a flexible circular waveguide 1 according to one embodiment. This waveguide 1 does not have a spiral shape, but has a bellows shape in which circular small diameter portions 1a and circular large diameter portions 1b are alternately provided in the axial direction.
The inner diameter of a is a, and the inner diameter of the large circular diameter portion 1b is b.

The inner diameter dimension a of the circular small diameter portion 1a is set to a dimension that allows only the TE 11 wave to be transmitted.

However, in order to provide flexibility, the inner diameter dimension b needs to be larger than the inner diameter dimension a (a<b).
よつて、本実施例では、この円形径大部1bの

でき、TE21波は伝送できない寸法にする。 Therefore, in this embodiment, the inner diameter dimension b of the circular large diameter portion 1b is set to a dimension that allows two waves, the TE 11 wave and the TM 01 wave, to be transmitted, but not the TE 21 wave.

Then, TM 01 occurred in the bent circular large diameter portion 1b.
The waves are attenuated by the immediately adjacent circular small-diameter portion 1a. In other words, in the circular small diameter portion 1a with the inner diameter dimension a,
TM 01 waves cannot be transmitted. Therefore, even if a TM 01 wave is generated, it is immediately canceled by bending, so microwaves can be transmitted without causing too much loss.

mm, length l = 1,000 mm, carrier microwave frequency = 2,450 MHz, and transmission power 5 kW,
The insertion loss of this waveguide was 20%.

In this case, the insertion loss of the waveguide was 50 to 60%. In this way, if the frequency = 2,450MHz and the inner diameter dimension b = 130mm, then the second or higher order (for example
It can be seen that the insertion loss increases significantly as the TE 21 wave) mode increases.

TE11波の遮断径 R1=λc/1.706

TE21波の遮断径 R2=λc/1.028
=119.1mm
TM01波の遮断径 R3=λc/1.307
=93.7mm
であり、よつて内径寸法a,b(mm)は、
71.78≦a≦93.7
b≦119.1
に設定する必要がある。 Here, when transmitting this frequency = 2,450MHz, the cutoff diameter of TE 11 wave R 1 = λc / 1.706 = 71.78mm The cutoff diameter of TE 21 wave R 2 = λc / 1.028 = 119.1mm of TM 01 wave The cutoff diameter R 3 =λc/1.307 = 93.7mm, and therefore the inner diameter dimensions a and b (mm) must be set to 71.78≦a≦93.7 b≦119.1.

In this case, the flange surface can be finely adjusted, making installation easier. Furthermore, since the transmission direction can be changed freely, it is possible to irradiate microwaves while moving, for example. Furthermore, since there is no need to use corner waveguides, it becomes possible to bend the waveguides and connect transmission lines over short distances.

As described above, according to the present invention, it is possible to realize a waveguide that has flexibility and has low microwave loss.
