Abstract
Description
Claims (21)
- 1.トーチ本体部の一端部に、工作物に隣り合って設けられ電極との間部分にプ ラズマアークチャンバーを形成するべく前記電極に関して離間した関係で設けら れたノズルと、イオン化し得るガスをプラズマアークチャンバーに送るための手 段と、プラズマアークを形成するためにガスをイオン化するための電流を電極を 通して送るための手段とを含み、前記イオン化し得るガスをプラズマアークチャ ンバーに送るための手段が、プラズマアークの作動の少なくとも一部分のために 前記プラズマアークチャンバー内に渦流流れを創生するようになっているプラズ マアークトーチの電極の損耗を低減するための方法であって、 時間t2に於て前記電流を遮断する電流遮断段階と、プラズマアークチャンバー を通しての前記イオン化し狩るガスの流れを、前記時間t2の直前の時間t1に 於て変更するガス流れ変更段階にして、ガス流れの遮断に先立って前記プラズマ アークチャンバーを通して前記アークを制御するために十分なガス流れを維持し 、また前記電流の遮断後に於ても継続され、一般に前記電流の遮断と同時に、前 記プラズマアークチャンバーを通しての渦流流れを終了させるための前記ガス流 れ変更段階とを包含してなる前記プラズマアークトーチの電極の損耗を低減する ための方法。
- 2.ガス流れ変更段階は、(i)ガスの質量流量を減少させる段階、(ii)プ ラズマアークチャンバー内のガスの渦流を低減させる段階、(iii)電流を、 その遮断の直前に於て低減させることによって前記プラズマアークチャンバー内 のガス圧力を低下させる段階、そして(iv)前記段階(i)、(ii)、(i ii)の任意の組み合わせた段階からなる段階群の中から選択した1つの段階を 含んでいる請求の範囲1に記載のプラズマアークトーチの電極の損耗を低減する ための方法。
- 3.プラズマアークチャンバー内のガスの流れを急速に変更させるための、ガス 流れ変更段階と協動しての通気段階が含まれる請求の範囲2に記載のプラズマア ークトーチの電極の損耗を低減するための方法。
- 4.ガス流れの変更は、電極の損耗を低減させるための電流遮断以前の十分長い 時間に、しかしアークがノズルを損傷しないよう電流遮断以前の十分に短い時間 に於て為される請求の範囲1、2或は3の何れかに記載のプラズマアークトーチ の電極の損耗を低減するための方法。
- 5.ガス流れの変更によってプラズマアークチャンバー内のガス圧力を一般に指 数関数的に減少させ、またガス流れの変更を電流遮断の約500ミリセカンドの 範囲内に開始させる段階を含む請求の範囲4に記載のプラズマアークトーチの電 極の損耗を低減するための方法。
- 6.ガスの質量流量を減少させる段階には、トーチ本体部を通してプラズマアー クチャンバーへと流れるガスの流れを時間t1に於て止める段階が含まれる請求 の範囲2に記載のプラズマアークトーチの電極の損耗を低減するための方法。
- 7.トーチ本体部を通してプラズマアークチャンバーへと流れるガスの流れを時 間t1に於て止める位置をプラズマチャンバーに接近させる段階を含む請求の範 囲6に記載のプラズマアークトーチの電極の損耗を低減するための方法。
- 8.電流の減少は徐々に為され、時間t1でガス流れの変更段階と共に開始され 、時間t2で遮断と共に終了される請求の範囲2に記載のプラズマアークトーチ の電極の損耗を低減するための方法。
- 9.電流の減少は、プラズマアークチャンバーへのガスの流量の減少に追随して 勾配的に為される請求の範囲8に記載のプラズマアークトーチの電極の損耗を低 減するための方法。
- 10.電流の減少は、プラズマアークチャンバー内のガス流れの渦流に於ける減 少と共に勾配的に為される請求の範囲8に記載のプラズマアークトーチの電極の 損耗を低減するための方法。
- 11.時間t1でのガス流れの変更に先立って電流の減少が開始される請求の範 囲2に記載のプラズマアークトーチの電極の損耗を低減するための方法。
- 12.プラズマアークチャンバー内のガスの渦流を低減させる段階には、プラズ マアークチャンバー内部への半径方向にオフセットされた流れからプラズマアー クチャンバー内部への一般に半径方向の流れへの切り替え段階が含まれ、この切 替段階によって、プラズマアークチャンバーを通しての実質的に軸方向の流れが 創生される請求の範囲2に記載のプラズマアークトーチの電極の損耗を低減する ための方法。
- 13.ガス流れの変更は、一般に半径方向の流れへの切替と一般に同時的なガス の質量流量の減少と協動される請求の範囲12に記載のプラズマアークトーチの 電極の損耗を低減するための方法。
- 14.一般に半径方向の流れへの切り替え段階と関連してのプラズマアークチャ ンバーの換気段階が含まれる請求の範囲12或は13の何れかに記載のプラズマ アークトーチの電極の損耗を低減するための方法。
- 15.プラズマアークトーチが本体部と、工作物に隣り合うその一端部に於て前 記本体部に取付けられ出口ボートを具備するノズルと、該ノズルに関して離間関 係で本体部に取付けられた電極と、前記ノズル及び電極の間部分に画定され前記 出口ボートと流体連通するプラズマアークチャンバーと、イオン化し得るガスの 流れをプラズマアークチャンバーに送るための、同様に前記本体部に取付けられ た第1の渦流リンクと、電源と、該電源からの電流を電極に導通し、またプラズ マアークが移行アークモードにある場合にはプラズマアークを介して工作物に電 流を送るための手段とを含み、前記電源が、プラズマアークトーチに対する電流 の通電開始及び遮断のための手段を含んでいるプラズマアークトーチシステムで あって、 (i)プラズマアークチャンバを通してのガスの質量流量を減少させそれにより 、電流の遮断に先立っての前記プラズマアークチャンバーを通してのガス流れを 前記プラズマアークを制御するに十分な且つ前記プラズマアークチャンバーを通 しての渦流状態でのガス流れを前記電流の遮断と一般に同時に終了させるに十分 な量に維持する段階、(ii)プラズマアークチャンバーを通してのガスの流れ パターンを半径方向流れに変更する段階、(iii)前記(i)及び(ii)の 各段階の組み合わせ段階、から成る段階群から選択した1つのパラメーターを変 化させるためのパラメーターを変化手段と、該パラメーター変化手段を、電流の 遮断する直前に作動させそれによって電極の損耗を実質的に低減させるためのパ ラメーター変化手段作動手段と によって構成される前記プラズマアークトーチシステム。
- 16.パラメーター変化手段は、プラズマアークチャンバーへのガスの流れを制 御するための弁手段を含んでいる請求の範囲15に記載のプラズマアークトーチ システム。
- 17.弁手段は時間t1に於て、約300ミリセカンドの間、時間t2での電流 の遮断に先立ってプラズマアークチャンバーへのプラズマガスの流れを遮断する ために閉鎖される請求の範囲16に記載のプラズマアークトーチシステム。
- 18.パラメーター変化手段は、プラズマアークチャンバーにガスを導入するた めの一般に半径方向のガス導入穴を具備する第2の渦流リングにして、前記プラ ズマアークチャンバーへのガス流れを前記第1の渦流リングから該第2の渦流リ ングヘと切り替えるための弁手段と組み合わせた状態に於てトーチ本体部に取付 けられている前記第2の渦流リングを含んでいる請求の範囲15に記載のプラズ マアークトーチシステム。
- 19.プラズマアークチャンバーへのガス流れの前記第1の渦流リングから該第 2の渦流リングヘの切り替えは、電流遮断の約500ミリセカンドの内に生じる 請求の範囲18に記載のプラズマアークトーチシステム。
- 20.パラメーター変化手段は、プラズマアークチャンバーからの通気のための 通気手段と該通気手段を開閉するためにパラメーター変化手段作動手段の制御下 に作動時材の弁手段とを含んでいる請求の範囲15に記載のプラズマアークトー チシステム。
- 21.プラズマアークチャンバーへのガス流れの前記第1の渦流リングから該第 2の渦流リングヘの切り替えは、電流遮断の約5ミリセカンドの内に生じる請求 の範囲15に記載のプラズマアークトーチシステム。
