[Detailed Description of the Invention] [Field of Industrial Application] The present invention is directed to glass whose surface is modified with a polyolefin film for use in snowboards, automobile bumpers, transportation carts, and other chemical and food industries. The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a fiber-reinforced thermoplastic sheet press-molded product.

Conventional glass fiber-reinforced thermoplastic sheet press-molded products have a lackluster surface and a rough feel, lacking in aesthetics and reducing product value. In addition, glass fibers are exposed on the surface of the molded product. Because of this, when people handle molded products with bare hands, the glass fibers can sting, sting, or itch on the skin.

Until now, there has been no complete method for modifying the surface of glass fiber-reinforced thermoplastic sheet press-molded products, and only a small amount of molded products can be modified by applying a coating agent that has good adhesion to the base material of the molded product. The only methods used were to make the surface glossy or to seal in the glass fibers.

The present inventor discovered that the above-mentioned conventional method for surface modification of glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic sheet press molded products involves applying a coating agent, which makes the process complicated and difficult to apply, whether by brushing or spraying. As a result of intensive research into manufacturing methods for surface-modified glass fiber-reinforced thermoplastic sheet press-molded products due to problems such as significant environmental pollution, we finally succeeded in eliminating glass fibers during the conventional manufacturing process. The present invention was completed after confirming that the skin is prevented from being exposed and causing prickling or itching, and that the aesthetic appearance of the surface of the finished molded product is significantly improved.

In the present invention, a heating material of a glass fiber reinforced plastic sheet is put into a desired mold having an upper mold and a lower mold, and a chlorinated polyolefin resin is used as an adhesive to coat one or both surfaces of the heating material. The chlorinated polyolefin resin adhesive has been applied in advance, or a polyolefin film that has been sprayed with a spray type adhesive is placed along one or both sides of the heating material of the glass fiber reinforced plastic sheet. The object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a press-molded glass fiber-reinforced thermoplastic sheet by press-molding the glass-fiber-reinforced plastic sheet and leaving the adhesive on one or both sides of the glass-fiber-reinforced plastic sheet. The thickness of the polyolefin film used in the present invention is approximately 50 μm to 500 μm, and in order to prevent the film from being peeled off after molding, a synthetic resin adhesive such as chlorinated polypropylene or acid anhydride-modified polypropylene is applied to the polyolefin film in advance. The molded product can be manufactured by coating or directly spraying a liquid or emulsion type synthetic resin adhesive onto the molded product to form a film on the molded product and leaving it adhered. In order to produce the glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic sheet press molded article of the present invention, a hot blank of the glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic sheet is first placed into a desired mold, such as a fixed mold.

Next, the above-mentioned polyolefin film is further placed on top of the hot blank placed along the upper mold and/or the lower mold, or on top of the lower mold, and the polyolefin film to be used is subjected to a treatment such as applying adhesive in advance. A polyolefin film layer is formed on and/or under the molded product by applying a spray adhesive or by spraying a spray type adhesive, and in either case, the mold is clamped by press molding to produce the molded product.

If no adhesive is applied to the polyolefin film, the film fused to the surface of the molded product can be easily peeled off by hand, but since the polyolefin film does not remain on the surface of the hot blank, it may affect the finish of the hot blank surface. Since the original film molded product remains, there is no effect of modifying the surface of the molded product.

After molding, the polyolefin film can be made into a molded product with the polyolefin film still adhered to the surface because an adhesive is applied in advance to the side of the polyolefin film that is in contact with the glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic sheet.

Example 1 When a hot blank of a glass fiber reinforced polypropylene sheet is put into upper and lower molds as shown in Fig. 1 and press molded, a film thickness of 50 μm to 500 μm with a chlorinated polypropylene adhesive applied to the surface is preferably used. A 100 μm polypropylene film was molded so as to squeeze a hot blank, and the polypropylene film was molded integrally with a glass fiber-reinforced polypropylene sheet, resulting in a molded product with no exposed glass fibers.
