2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, thermosensitive coloring paper has been mainly used to obtain an image according to image information using a thermal head. However, thermal coloring paper has a fatal drawback in that if the resulting image is stored for a long period of time, the color may fade or non-image areas may develop color. Furthermore, color printing is limited to two colors, and it has been impossible to obtain color images with continuous gradations.

In order to solve the above problems, a thermal transfer sheet was developed in which a thermal transfer layer containing a heat-transferable dye was provided on a base sheet. It is used by being superimposed on a thermal transfer sheet provided above. By using such a thermal transfer sheet and a thermal transfer sheet in combination, it is possible to obtain a color image that is durable and has continuous gradation.

The thermal transfer sheet and the thermal transfer sheet are overlapped and heated to perform recording, but generally, the running speed of the thermal transfer sheet and the thermal transfer sheet are controlled to the same speed, and the thermal recording is performed by completely overlapping the thermal transfer sheet and the thermal transfer sheet. has been carried out.

However, when thermal recording is performed by completely matching the running speed of the thermal transfer sheet and the running speed of the thermal transfer sheet, the following problems occur.

(a) Even when recording is performed on only one part of the thermal transfer sheet, a thermal transfer sheet with the same area as the thermal transfer sheet is required, and in such cases, the thermal transfer sheet is discarded without being used much. This can be extremely wasteful.

(b) The thermal transfer sheet after heating recording is finished.
Because the stains and traces of dye transfer remain, the recorded contents can be easily read by looking at the thermal transfer sheet after use. There is a problem in that the subsequent thermal transfer sheet cannot be disposed of without special treatment.

In order to solve these problems, studies have begun to consider making the traveling speed of the thermal transfer sheet smaller than the traveling speed of the thermal transfer sheet when superimposing the thermal transfer sheet and the thermal transfer sheet for thermal recording. However, when an existing thermal transfer sheet and a thermal transfer sheet are stacked so that the transfer layer of the thermal transfer sheet and the receiving layer of the thermal transfer sheet overlap and the running speeds of the two sheets are different, friction occurs between the two sheets and heat is generated. The inventors of the present invention have discovered that, as a result, a portion of the thermal transfer layer of the thermal transfer sheet adheres to and transfers to the receiving layer of the thermal transfer sheet, which is a fatal problem.

Isocyanates and a compound having active hydrogen as described above react with each other by heating or the like to form a resin having excellent heat resistance and mechanical strength.
The reaction product of isocyanates and a compound containing active hydrogen has excellent heat resistance and mechanical strength, so when using this reaction product as a binder for a thermal transfer layer, it is necessary to Even if friction occurs and heat is generated, the thermal transfer layer of the thermal transfer sheet will not adhere to and transfer to the receiving layer of the thermal transfer sheet.

The dye is used in an amount of 10 to 200 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the compound having active hydrogen. The amount of this dye varies within the above range depending on the ratio of the running speed of the thermal transfer sheet to the running speed of the thermal transfer sheet. In other words, the smaller the ratio between the running speed of the thermal transfer sheet and the running speed of the thermal transfer sheet, that is, the slower the running speed of the thermal transfer sheet is compared to the running speed of the thermal transfer sheet, the greater the amount of dye present. It is preferable to do so.

The thermal transfer sheet 1 having the above configuration is as follows:
Although it is used in combination with a thermal transfer sheet, the ratio of the running speed of the thermal transfer sheet to that of the thermal transfer sheet is preferably in the range of 1 to 0.02. If the aforementioned speed ratio is less than 0.02, the print density of the recording formed on the thermal transfer sheet may decrease too much, which is not preferable. Note that a wide variety of conventionally known sheets can be used as the thermal transfer sheet.

Acrylic polyol: 5 parts by weight Diisocyanate (Coronate L, Japan Polyurethane): 0.5 parts by weight Disperse dye (Red-G, Mitsui Toatsu): 1.5 parts by weight Ethyl methyl ketone/toluene mixed solvent (1:
1): 60 parts by weight When the speed ratio of the thermal transfer sheet and the sheet to be thermally transferred was set to 1, 1/2, 1/5, and 1/10, the thermal transfer layer of the transfer sheet did not adhere to the receiving layer after transfer. No defects were observed at all, and both sheets showed good running performance.

[Scope of Claims] 1 A thermal transfer sheet comprising a thermal transfer layer formed of a binder containing a sublimable dye that transfers to the thermal transfer sheet by heating on a base sheet, wherein the binder of the thermal transfer layer is an isocyanate. and a compound having active hydrogen selected from the group consisting of polyvinyl butyral, polyvinyl formal, polyester polyol, and acrylic polyol, and the reaction product does not transfer to the thermal transfer sheet even after heating. Features thermal transfer sheet. 2. Claim 1 in which the isocyanates are diisocyanates or triisocyanates.
Thermal transfer sheet described in section. 3. The thermal transfer sheet according to claim 1, wherein the dye is used in the thermal transfer layer in an amount of 10 to 200 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the active hydrogen-containing compound.
