供給部２と、顔料なしのインクを供給する第２の供給部
３とが形成されている。

【発明の詳細な説明】

【産業上の利用分野】本発明は特にカラープリンタに関
するものである。
【０００２】
【従来の技術】従来のインクジェットタイプのカラープ
リンタにおいてカラーを印刷するために、印刷したい色
を、シアン、マゼンタ、イエロー、ブラックの４色に分
解し、階調を表現するために階調情報をＮｘＮの網点や
ディザパターンなどに変換して印刷していた。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】ところが以上のような
形で階調を表現した場合、ＮｘＮドットの網点やディザ
パターンで階調を表現することから、色の解像度として
はプリンタの解像度（ＤＰＩ）のＮ分の一に落ちてしま
う欠点があった。

【課題を解決する為の手段】これを解決するためにイン
クプリンタヘッドに顔料なしのインクを供給する第２の
供給部を設け、インクの濃さを変化させて階調を表現す
るようにしたものである。
【０００５】尚、インクの吐出制御は圧電素子や、高電
圧印加などによって行なわれる。

【実施例】つぎに本発明の実施例について図１を参照し
て説明する。
【０００７】図において、１はプリンタヘッドであっ
て、インク溜め１ａの前面にはインクの吐出部１ｂが形
成されている。一方、ヘッド１には通常のインクを供給
する第１の供給部２と、顔料なしのインクを供給する第
２の供給部３とが設けられており、その供給量によって
インクの濃度が調整される。
【０００８】顔料なしインクを使わない場合のインクの
濃さを１００％とすると、濃度をｄ％のインクを作る場
合、第１の供給部２から顔料有りのインクの弁をｄｘＴ
／１００秒だけ開き、それと同時に第２の供給部３から
顔料なしのインクの弁を（１００−ｄ）ｘＴ／１００秒
だけ開き、インクを薄め、そのあと、吐出部１ｂから混
合インクを前方に吐出して紙などに印刷する（ここでＴ
は１ドット印刷するときに開ける弁の開ける時間とす
る）。

【発明の効果】以上、説明したように本発明によれば、
吐出部から出るインクの濃さを顔料なしインクを混ぜる
ことによって変えることができる。これによりプリンタ
のドット単位で階調表現が可能になり、従来の方法より
高い色解像度で印刷することが可能になる。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】 インクの供給部及び吐出部を有するプリ
    ンタヘッドを含むプリンタにおいて、前記プリンタヘッ
    ドにインクを希釈する顔料なしインクを供給する第２の
    供給部を設けたことを特徴とするプリンタ。
