Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a radiator for bicycle to reduce a cost through improvement of the efficiency of a cooling fan assembly work and improve cooling performance throughout the whole area of middle and high speeds. CONSTITUTION:By applying bending on a radiator 1, a flat core part 4a is formed at the central part of a core and the core part is bent at bending parts 8 to form core parts 4b on the right and left sides. Since there is no need for a notch part for bending to be formed in a bracket 6 being a core part 4a part being a flat central part, an angle for fixing a cooling fan is integrally formed. Further, the core parts 4b on the right and left sides are bent from the flat core part 4a, the size of a deep part being the passage direction of air is reduced compared with a case wherein direct bending from a central part is effected without forming the flat core parts 4a, and an installation space for a cooling fan is ensured.

2. Description of the Related Art A two-wheeled on-road racer replica vehicle is disclosed in Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication (Kokai) No. 58-208594 and Japanese Unexamined Utility Model Publication No. 6 for the purpose of improving cooling performance, mountability, and appearance design.
As disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 3-154981, a so-called V-shaped radiator having a bent or curved heat exchange surface is mainly mounted. After being molded, this motorcycle radiator is bent or curved into a V shape by a bending process that presses the central portion. For this reason, a large number of notches are provided in the bent portions of the upper and lower brackets to prevent cracks, cracks, or deformation during bending. Further, a cooling fan b is generally provided in the central portion of the radiator a in order to ensure cooling performance during low-speed traveling such as when climbing uphill or when the road is congested (FIG. 6 (a)). But,
Particularly in the case of a motorcycle having a large engine displacement, a space for mounting the cooling fan b cannot be secured between the radiator a and the engine c, and the central portion of the radiator a cannot be used. For this reason, the cooling fan d,
By installing d, the cooling performance during low speed running is maintained (Fig. 6 (b)).

However, it is difficult to integrally form the angle for mounting the cooling fan in the bent portion of the bracket having the large number of notches as described above. Therefore, the angle f formed on the straight part other than the central part of the upper and lower brackets e, e
Using four fixing members g screwed to the
(A)), or the cooling fan b must be fixed by using a screw-fixing angle h that is attached by welding to the bent portion at the center of the lower bracket e (FIG. 7 (b)), There is a problem that not only the cost increases due to an increase in the number of parts, but also the workability is poor. Further, when the cooling fans d, d are installed at both ends of the radiator a as described above, the cooling performance at low speed traveling can be ensured, but at the time of medium and high speed traveling, the central portion of the radiator a is arranged rearward. c serves as a resistor, and the cooling fan d, the motor, etc. serve as resistors on both outer sides from the central portion, which obstructs passage of the cooling air, thereby effectively utilizing the vehicle speed air which is an advantage of the V-type radiator. There is a problem that you cannot do it. The present invention has been made to solve the above problems, and a radiator for a motorcycle that can improve the cooling fan's assembling workability to reduce the cost and improve the cooling performance over a low, medium, and high speed range. It is intended to be provided.

According to the motorcycle radiator described above, since it is not necessary to provide a notch for bending in the bracket of the flat heat exchange surface in the central portion, the angle for fixing the cooling fan is integrally formed. Can be formed. Further, since the left and right heat exchange surfaces are bent or curved from the flat heat exchange surface, the depth that is the passing direction of the wind is greater than the case where the flat heat exchange surface is not directly formed and is bent or curved directly from the central portion. The size can be reduced and the installation space for the cooling fan can be secured.

The brackets 6 and 7 are preliminarily formed by press working or the like to form a large number of notches in the vicinity of the two bent portions 8 sandwiching the central portions 6a and 7a. Angles 10 for screwing are integrally formed by bending up on both outer sides, and the bracket 7 is integrally formed by bending up an angle 11 for screwing at the center of the inside of the bent portion 8. The bracket 6 is fixed to the upper surface of the core 4 and the bracket 7 is fixed to the lower surface thereof, and the left and right ends thereof are fixed to the headers 5 and 5 by brazing or caulking.

As shown in FIG. 4, the radiator 1 is supported at its both ends by supporting plates 12 which can be tilted and supported horizontally, and then pressed by a convex mold 13 in the direction of arrow A to bend. Give. The convex mold 13 has a flat pressing surface 14 at the center, and inclined surfaces 15 that rise outward are provided on both left and right sides of the pressing surface 14. Therefore, the radiator 1 is formed by bending into a shape in which the flat core portion 4a is formed in the central portion of the core 4 and is bent at the bending portion 8 and the core portions 4b on both the left and right sides of the core portion 4a are flipped up. It The flat pressing surface 14 is for providing a straight portion forming the angle 11 for screwing in the central portion 7a of the bracket 7, and may have a length of, for example, about 40 mm.

A fan shroud 21 equipped with a cooling fan 20 is attached to the center of the back surface of the radiator 1 that has been subjected to the bending process. The fan shroud 21 has three fixed legs 22 radially protruding at equal angular intervals fixed to the outer periphery thereof, and the tip ends of the fixed legs 22 are angled 10 and 10 of the upper bracket 6 and the lower bracket 7, respectively.

As described above, since the radiator 1 is provided with the straight portion on the central portion 7a of the lower bracket 7 and the angle 11 for screwing is integrally formed, it is not necessary to attach a separate angle to the radiator, and the angle is fixed. With three legs, the number of parts can be reduced, and the work of assembling the cooling fan 20 can be performed quickly. Further, since the bending portion 8 is provided at two places, there is an advantage that the bending limit angle θ of the V-shaped radiator 1 can be increased as shown in FIG. 5A and the mountability on the vehicle can be improved. .

Further, by providing a flat core portion 4a at the center of the radiator 1, the dimension in the depth direction can be reduced by h as shown in FIG. 5B, so that the distance between the engine and the radiator 1 is large. Even in the case of an engine with a large displacement, the cooling fan 2 is installed in the center of the radiator 1.
0 can be set. Therefore, when the vehicle is traveling at a low speed, the cooling fan 20 forcibly introduces air into the flat core portion 4a at the center of the radiator 1, and when traveling at a medium or high speed, the vehicle-speed air is blown to the core portions 4b at both ends of the radiator 1 having no resistor. The cooling performance can be secured. The core portions 4b on both the left and right sides of the flat core portion 4a may be curved instead of being straight.

The present invention has the above-mentioned structure, and since it is not necessary to provide a notch for bending in the bracket of the flat heat exchange surface in the central portion, an angle for fixing the cooling fan is provided. It can be integrally formed, the number of parts can be reduced, the workability of assembling the cooling fan can be improved, and the cost can be reduced. Further, since the left and right heat exchange surfaces are bent or curved from the flat heat exchange surface, compared to the case where the flat heat exchange surface is bent or curved from the central portion without being formed.
The depth dimension, which is the direction of passage of wind, becomes smaller, and a cooling fan can be installed between the radiator and the engine.Even in the case of a motorcycle with a large engine displacement, the cooling fan is used at low speeds and the vehicle speed is used at medium and high speeds to reduce There is an effect such that the cooling efficiency can be improved over the medium and high speeds in general.
