(57) [Abstract] [Purpose] To enable the voltage controlled oscillator to smoothly change the frequency during temperature compensation that is periodically performed even when the ambient temperature changes. A voltage-controlled piezoelectric oscillator 24 that outputs a frequency according to an input analog voltage, a temperature sensor 11 that measures the ambient temperature, an ambient temperature detected by the temperature sensor 11, and a control voltage for the voltage-controlled piezoelectric oscillator 24. First calculation means 41 for calculating a target voltage for which temperature compensation is performed for each predetermined cycle based on 17 and the control voltage supplied to the voltage controlled piezoelectric oscillator immediately before temperature compensation and this target voltage are compared. When the comparison means 43 and the comparison means 43 detect a mismatch between the two, the target voltage calculated by the first calculation means 41 is set to a time-varying voltage that changes stepwise within the range of the above-described cycle. A digital temperature compensation oscillator is constituted by the second calculation means 42 which calculates and outputs to the voltage controlled piezoelectric oscillator 24.

FIG. 5 shows how the frequency of this digital temperature-compensated piezoelectric oscillator changes with respect to the ambient temperature with and without temperature compensation.
In the figure, the horizontal axis shows the change in ambient temperature, and the vertical axis shows the change in frequency output from the voltage-controlled piezoelectric oscillator 24 with respect to this temperature change. In the figure, a curve 31 shows the characteristic when the temperature compensation is not performed. In this way, the frequency greatly changes with respect to the set value according to the ambient temperature.

Another curve 32 in the figure is the output of the digital temperature compensation type piezoelectric oscillator shown in FIG. 4, and represents the state in which temperature compensation is performed. Since the memory circuit 16 shown in FIG. 4 stores a program for temperature compensation and constants, the CPU 15 calculates compensation data based on this and performs compensation operation. As a result, even if the ambient temperature changes, the frequency output from the voltage-controlled piezoelectric oscillator 24 only slightly changes with respect to the set value.

That is, when the ambient temperature of the voltage-controlled piezoelectric oscillator 24 changes and the temperature data changes from T 1 to T 2 , any value from V (T 1 ) to V (T 2 ) can be set within an arbitrary time. It is possible to reduce the frequency change of the voltage-controlled piezoelectric oscillator 24 by changing the number of bits.

Although the digital temperature compensation type piezoelectric oscillator is constructed by using the microcomputer in the embodiment, the invention is not limited to this. In the embodiment, the analog data is converted into digital data and vice versa. However, it is not necessary to perform some or all of such conversion depending on the device or the element used. is there. Furthermore, although the voltage-controlled piezoelectric oscillator has been described in the embodiments, the present invention can be applied to voltage-controlled oscillators in general.

As described above, according to the present invention, it is decided to use the data for temperature compensation calculated in a predetermined cycle to calculate the control voltage that alleviates the change over time. The change in frequency can be moderated without shortening the cycle for calculating data for temperature compensation so much. Therefore, when the present invention is used for a PLL circuit used in a communication device or the like, there is an effect that it is possible to suppress an inconvenient phenomenon that a steady phase error becomes large for a moment during temperature compensation.
