Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 〔産業上の利用分野〕 本発明は、内燃機関のピストン、シリンダヘツド等のエ
ンジン部品に関する。
〔従来の技術及びその問題点〕
従来、内燃機関のピストン、シリンダヘツド等のエンジ
ン部品の断熱材としては、窒化ケイ素、ジルコニア、ム
ライト、チタン酸アルミ等のソリツド状のセラミツクス
が用いられている。
これらのセラミツクス材は強度的には十分強いものであ
るが、熱伝導率が大きいためにエンジンの吸入効率の低
下をきたすという問題があつた。
他方、熱伝導率の小さいセラミツクス材としては、例え
ば発泡セラミツクスあるいはセラミツクス繊維の積層体
等があるが、これらのセラミツクス材は強度が数10kg
/cm2程度と小さく、燃料燃焼時の爆発圧力には耐えられ
ない。
これらを改良したものとして、金属アルコキシドを原料
とするコーテイング剤を結合剤として無機質繊維材料、
中空体を添加した断熱材があるが、これを製造するには
焼成前の乾燥に長時間を要するという欠点があつた。
〔発明の構成〕 本発明は上記従来技術の欠点を改善するためになされた
ものであつて、 (1)無機質コーテイング剤 (2)無機質コーテイング剤の固形分100重量部に対し
て、5〜40重量部のチタン酸カリウム繊維、10〜5
0重量部の窒化ケイ素ウイスカ及び/又は0〜15重量
部のグラスバルン 及び (3)更に硬化促進剤として、前記(2)のチタン酸カリウム
繊維、窒化ケイ素ウイスカ、グラスバルンの1〜10重
量%の酸化カルシウム(CaO) を混合し、乾燥・焼成してなるピストン、シリンダヘツ
ド等の内燃機関のエンジン部品であつて、硬化促進剤と
してCaOを添加することにより乾燥時間の短縮をはかつ
たものである。
本発明において、無機質コーテイング剤としては一般に
市販されているものを使用できる。
実施例1 シリカ、チタニアを主成分とする無機質コーテイング剤
(日本合成ゴム(株)製グラスカE1101)の固形分
100重量部に対し、チタン酸カリウム繊維15重量
部、窒化ケイ素ウイスカー20重量部、ガラス中空体5
重量部を混合し、混練機で十分に攪拌混練する。この混
練物に対し、0.8重量部の酸化カルシウムを混合し、更
に十分に混練した後、所定の形状の密閉された型内に加
圧しながら注入した。
注入後薬3時間程でスラリーの硬化が始まつたので、内
型を取り出し、蓋をして密閉し、そのまゝの状態で乾燥
せしめた。
この際密閉しないで乾燥した場合、大気に直接触れる部
分とそうでない部分とで乾燥条件が異なるため変形ある
いは割れを生ずる場合がある。
ついで12時間以上密閉状態で乾燥し、得られた成形体
を1100℃で30分間焼成し、断熱材を得た。
該断熱材の熱伝導率は1.5KCal/m.h.℃、圧縮強度56
0kg/cm2以上であつた。
本発明において、チタン酸カリウム繊維及び窒化ケイ素
ウイスカの添加量が夫々無機質の固形分100重量部当
り5重量部及び10重量部以下の場合には所定の熱伝導
率が得られず、また40重量部及び50重量部以上の場
合には所定の強度のものが得られない。また、グラスバ
ルンを15重量部以上添加する場合も同様である。

Claims (1)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項1】無機質コーテイング剤、該無機質コーテイ
    ング剤の固形分100重量部に対し5〜40重量部のチ
    タン酸カリウム繊維、10〜50重量部の窒化ケイ素ウ
    イスカ及び/又は0〜15重量部のグラスバルンを混合
    し、更に無機質コーテイング剤以外の成分の1〜10重
    量%のCaOを添加混合したものを乾燥焼成してなるピス
    トン、シリンダヘツド等の内燃機関のエンジン部品。
