In the product having such a large difference in wall thickness, Since the outer peripheral riser provided at the rim c portion cannot be expected to have a ripple effect on the boss a portion, the riser R is provided directly above the boss a portion.
And a washburn core W provided with a core for forming a casting hole is used to directly enjoy the effect of the feeder.

An outer chilled portion that also serves as a fixed skirting, and the other end extending portion of the inner chilled portion that exceeds the thick portion constitutes a variable skirting board that corresponds to the dimensional change of the thick portion. At the same time, the technical means of applying a coating mold to at least the contact surface of the cold metal with the molten metal is taken.

Not limited to the gear material illustrated in the figure, it can be applied to casting of any product having a cast hole formed in a thick portion where shrinkage cavities are likely to occur, and is generally mounted in a sand mold formed by machine loading. Be entered. The inner chilled portion of the chill has substantially the function of a core for forming a casting hole, and is cast and wrapped by the molten metal to be injected, so that it is easy to separate from the product in post-treatment. It is desirable that a draft of about 1/60 be provided and the surface roughness be 150 μmRz or less. In addition to facilitating separation from the product, a graphite-based coating die is applied to the contact surface with the molten metal so as to prevent casting defects such as blowing.

It functions as a metal part. The other end of the internally chilled portion further extends beyond the thick portion of the product, and is configured as a so-called variable skirting board that absorbs a change in the dimension of the thick portion by expansion and contraction of the extension amount.

The outside-cooled metal part promotes solidification of the thick part, and exhibits a stable core holding function in addition to a sufficient function of preventing shrinkage cavity defects despite the omission of the feeder. The chill metal cast by the molten product can be easily separated from the product by a small impact due to the action of the draft, so that it can be reused by simply repeating simple preparation processes such as cleaning and coating. Even if the dimension of the thick part of the product changes somewhat, the variable skirting board configured at the other end extension of the internally cooled metal part expands and contracts to accommodate this, so even for different products. The chill can be widely used.

The boss 12 of the thick portion and the disc rib 14 of the thin portion have a considerably large thickness difference. Although not clear in the drawing, the casting sand mold of the product 10 is configured such that the molten metal is supplied from the outer peripheral surface portion of the rim 16 via the sprue, runner and weir.

The lower end of the portion 22 is integrally connected to an outer cooling metal portion 24 which also serves as a fixed skirting board having a sufficient contact surface 24a with the lower end surface of the boss 12 and a corresponding volume. Therefore, the inner-cooled metal portion 22 and the outer-cooled metal portion 24 favorably promote the cooling and solidification of the thick wall portion, and in addition to the sufficient function of preventing the shrinkage cavity defect in spite of the omission of the feeder, it is stable. Demonstrate the retention function of the core. The upper end of the inner cooling metal part 22 extends a little longer than the upper end surface of the boss 12 to form a variable skirting board 26, and the variable skirting board 26 expands and contracts in response to a change in the thickness of the boss 12. As a result, the chill 20 can be commonly used even for products having slightly different wall thicknesses.
