FIG. 1 is a diagram showing an example of changing the guidance display on a touch panel according to an embodiment of the present invention. In the screen of the display 9 of the touch panel 8 of FIG. 1A, a part of the light emitting element of the left light emitting device or a part of the light receiving element of the right light receiving device has failed, and the shaded area 13 in the figure is input. Suppose it becomes impossible. In the input effective area 10 of the guidance display of FIG. 1 (a), the patterns of the numeric input keys "0" to "9" and the cancel input key are displayed. Figure 1
In the example shown in (a), the width of the obstacle region 13 is wide and covers the upper half of the numeral keys "1", "2", "3". In such a state, it is impossible to guide the customer to input by touching with a finger. Therefore, in the present embodiment, the failure area 1 is selected from the guide guidance display patterns stored in advance in the storage unit.
Select a pattern that does not overlap 3 and display it. That is, the input valid area 10 is changed to a range that does not overlap the obstacle area 13.

FIG. 4 is a diagram showing another example of changing the guide display. For example, if only one light emitting element fails,
As shown in FIG. 4A, the failure area 12b is a narrow range. The failure area 12b overlaps with the numeric keys "8", "5", "2" of the key input effective area 10, but three light emitting elements and four light emitting elements correspond to the range of one numeric key. Therefore, even if the failure area 12b exists, normal transactions are not hindered. Therefore, when a failure area 12b in a narrow range occurs, it is only necessary to perform processing so that the input / output of the element corresponding to the failure is not used for control, and as shown in FIG. Do not change. When the failure area occurs outside the key input valid area 10, for example, when the failure area 12a in FIG. 4A occurs, it is a portion unrelated to the key input, and of course the key input valid area 10 Do not change.

When a situation occurs in which a plurality of continuous light emitting elements fail, or when gum or the like adheres to a certain area, the failure area has a certain width. That is, the failure region 13 having a certain width as described in FIG.
4B, the key input effective area 10 is moved to a position that does not overlap the failure area 13, as shown in FIG. 4B. When only the movement cannot be dealt with, the display pattern is changed as shown in FIG.

FIG. 6 is a timing chart for detecting a defective element. When the switching element 15 of FIG. 5 is turned off, the received light data is read based on the data fetch signal 19, and the clock 20 is input to read the data in the X and Y directions. If there is a defect in a certain light receiving element in the read data, the data corresponding to the light receiving element is detected as ON, that is, in the write state.
From the detected clock number of the data, it is possible to know what position of the light receiving element the defect is.

7 to 9 are flow charts showing the procedure for changing the above-mentioned guidance display. After the apparatus is started up (started), first, in step 10, each unit of the apparatus is initialized. Next, all the light emitting elements of the touch panel are turned off (step 11), the light receiving state is read (step 12), and it is determined whether or not all the light receiving elements detect dark (step 13). If all are dark, there is no problem, so proceed to step 15. If all are not dark, it means that the light receiving element is broken in the short mode. Therefore, the process proceeds to step 14, where the defective portion, that is, the number of the light receiving element of the defective element is stored, and the process proceeds to step 15.

In step 21, the above-mentioned steps 14,
Based on the defective portion stored in 17, it is determined whether or not this defective portion is within the key input effective area. If it is outside the area, the defective portion is ignored and the operation is performed (step 22) as described in FIG. 4, and the process proceeds to step 18 in FIG. 7.

If the defective portion is within the key input effective area, the process proceeds from step 21 to step 23, and it is determined whether or not the width is equal to or larger than the specified width. If the width is less than the regulation width, the defective portion is ignored and the operation is performed, so that the operation proceeds to step 22. If it is larger than the regulation width, it is judged whether or not the key input effective area can be moved with the shape pattern as it is (step 24), and if possible, the pattern which can avoid the obstacle from the screen display patterns prepared in advance. Is selected (step 25), the key input effective area is changed as shown in FIG. 4 (step 26), and the process proceeds to step 18.

If it is determined in step 24 that the key cannot be moved, the process proceeds to step 27 in FIG. 9 to determine whether the shape of the key input effective area can be changed. If the shape can be changed, a shape pattern capable of avoiding obstacles is selected from the display patterns prepared in advance (step 28), and the input area shape is changed as shown in FIG. 1 (step 29). Go to step 18 above. Step two
If the key input effective area cannot be set in the range that does not overlap the obstacle area by the determination of 7, no matter how the shape is deformed, the process proceeds to step 30 and the transaction is stopped.

In addition, as in the above-described embodiment, in addition to changing the key input portion so as to avoid the obstacle portion with respect to the detected obstacle, when the customer sensor of the apparatus detects the customer, Application examples and modification examples can be considered, such as telling the customer which part of the touch panel has a failure by means of voice, vibration, light, etc. to avoid the failure. Also, instead of selecting a pattern in which the obstacle area and the key input valid area do not overlap from the various screen display patterns prepared in advance, the area where the key can be input from the obstacle portion is calculated, and each input key is assigned to this area. It is also possible to arrange them.
