There are various methods such as the method and the VHS (registered trademark) method, but the basic structure is almost the same, and FIG. 4 shows the VHS method. As shown in FIG. 4, in the magnetic tape cassette 10, since the magnetic tape T travels between the supply reel 11 and the take-up reel 12, guide means for guiding the tape travel, for example, a cylindrical tape guide 13 and a guide pole 14, It has a structure including a guide roller 15 and a pressing pad 16. Therefore, the tape running property is greatly affected by the quality of sliding between these guide means and the magnetic tape. This can be easily understood because the magnetic tape T is, as is well known, a flexible film base made of acetate, polyester, vinyl chloride or the like provided with a magnetic layer. Particularly in recent years, a magnetic tape T having a further reduced tape thickness and an improved smoothness of the tape surface is provided for the purpose of enabling recording / reproduction for a long time, and improving electromagnetic conversion characteristics. It has come to store.

That is, as the magnetic tape becomes thinner, its rigidity decreases, and the behavior of the magnetic tape is more easily affected by the guide means. In a magnetic tape cassette aiming at higher density recording / reproduction, the magnetic tape is slightly affected. Even if the behavior of the tape changes, the effect is likely to occur, and a higher technology is required as a technology for keeping the tape running stable. The problems caused by the change in the tape behavior mainly include, for example, a phenomenon (jitter) in which a reproduction screen is unstable and horizontally shaken, and in some cases, it causes tape jamming.

The magnetic tape has a great influence on the magnetic surface of the magnetic tape, and particularly the surface of the magnetic surface has a Ra value (cutoff value of 0.25 mm) of, for example, a smooth magnetic tape having a surface roughness of less than 0.01 μm. Easily affected,
It has been found that the problems described above are likely to occur. This achieves the intended purpose by making the guide pole 14 in contact with the magnetic surface of the magnetic tape T harder than before and polishing or other surface treatment for improving the smoothness of the surface. However, in general, the cost of the guide pole 14 becomes extremely high by carrying out such a treatment, and there is a problem in practical use in the conventional technique.

This can be achieved by a magnetic tape cassette characterized in that inorganic particles having a Mohs hardness of 9 or more and a particle diameter of 3 μm or less are granulated in the fine grooves on the surface of the guide pole without an adhesive.

By this centerless processing, the outer peripheral surface of the material is processed into a desired dimension while forming fine scratch-shaped grooves along the circumferential direction, that is, unevenness in the length direction of the guide pole. The grindstone used for the centerless processing is generally one having a roughness of # 100 to 140. This roughness is appropriately selected in consideration of the barrel processing, not to mention the problem of time in the processing process.

In this barrel processing, for example, aluminum oxide (spherical and 1 μm to 2 mm in diameter) or silicon carbide particles and ceramic balls (2.5 mm in diameter) as abrasives are put in a processing container together with a centerless processed guide pole 1. Rotate. The particles used as abrasives rub against each other and the guide poles during barrel processing. The particles are scraped by the impact of rubbing and become finer with the lapse of processing time. Guide pole 1 by this process
Is polished by aluminum oxide so that the surface 2 is finished to be extremely smooth, and aluminum oxide is fixed so as to be embedded in the guide pole surface 2, that is, in the barrel processing step, the guide pole 1 and the balls or the guide poles are Due to the rubbing force, the aluminum oxide 3 not only polishes the surface 2 of the guide pole, but also firmly adheres and fixes it so that the surface 2 of the guide pole is not easily pushed in by the impact of rubbing. The adhered aluminum oxide 3 constitutes a part of the surface 2 of the guide pole, and is securely held with almost no falling off by an external force such as the sliding of the magnetic tape. The particle size of the aluminum oxide 3 may be, for example, about 0.002 mm to 2.0 mm, but the aluminum oxide adhered and fixed to the recess of the surface 2 of the guide pole 1 is less than the groove width of the recess of the surface 2. That is, it is in the form of fine particles having a diameter of 3 μm or less.

The distribution state and the adhered and fixed state can be appropriately adjusted, and can be changed according to various conditions such as barrel processing time and size of ceramic balls.

It is constructed into a flat surface during barreling. Further, the smoothness of the surface 2 may be similar to that of a conventional guide pole, and for example, a cutoff value of 0.08 mm and an Ra value of 0.01 to 0.05 μm are preferable.

By maintaining the degree or more, the frictional resistance between the guide pole 1 and the magnetic surface of the magnetic tape T can be reduced. The reason for this is that the surface 2 contacting the magnetic surface, like the guide pole 1 of the present invention, has hard particles, so that the hardness of the surface 2 is effectively the hardness of the particles and the wear resistance is improved. Then
Further, the contact of the surface 2 with the magnetic surface is considered to be a sliding contact with the surface of the particle as a reference, and it is presumed that the friction coefficient is substantially reduced by substantially reducing the contact area. In addition, since the oxide particles are provided on the sliding surface with respect to the magnetic surface, the surface 2 can obtain substantially the same effect as the oxide film is formed, and the lubricity of the surface 2 is improved. Can be measured.

することができる。(Effect of the Invention) As described above, according to the present invention, the wear resistance of the guide pole is improved by providing the inorganic particles having the Mohs hardness of 9 or more on the surface of the guide pole which slides on the magnetic surface of the magnetic tape. When it is possible to improve the sliding resistance of the magnetic tape and to obtain the same effect as that of forming an oxide film such as aluminum oxide, it is possible to improve the sliding property of the guide pole surface. Since it can be improved further, the tape running property can be kept good for a long period of time, problems such as jitter and troubles such as tape jamming can be effectively prevented, and the guide pole according to the present invention can be barrel-processed. It can be manufactured by a very simple process such as a process. Therefore, a high-quality magnetic tape cassette having excellent recording / reproducing characteristics can be provided at low cost.
