(B) Conventional technology Recently, a digital audio device such as a CD player, a DAT (digital audio tape recorder), or a BS tuner (tuner for satellite broadcasting reception) that handles the audio information as a digital signal, outputs the audio information to the digital signal. Some have been provided with a digital output function that outputs as is. The digital audio device is adapted to transmit a digital signal of audio information by an electrical signal using a coaxial cable or an optical signal using an optical fiber. The method of transmitting using the optical signal has a drawback that the cost is high because it is necessary to convert the electric signal into the optical signal by the device on the transmitting side and convert the optical signal into the electric signal by the device on the receiving side. But,
The device on the transmitting side and the device on the receiving side can be electrically separated and unnecessary radiation from the transmission line can be prevented, which is advantageous in sound quality.

(C) Problems to be Solved by the Invention By the way, as a light emitting element drive circuit for driving a light emitting element for generating an optical signal, as shown in FIG. The circuit is known. In FIG. 2, a light emitting diode (LED) (1) for generating an optical signal is driven by a drive transistor (2) having a collector and an emitter connected in series to the LED (1). The drive transistor (2) is controlled to be turned on / off according to a digital signal input to the input terminal (3). Here, in FIG. 2, the current flowing to the ground is only the current flowing to the emitter of the drive transistor (2), so that when the LED (1) emits light and when the LED (1) does not emit light. Then, the value of the current flowing to the ground is very different. Therefore, when the LED (1) emits light and when it does not emit light, the current I G flowing to the ground changes abruptly, and unnecessary radiation is generated.
It was giving electromagnetic interference to the peripheral circuits.

(D) Means for Solving the Problems The present invention is a light emitting element drive circuit made in view of the above points, wherein the light emitting element and a collector / emitter path are connected in parallel to the light emitting element and the light emitting element is provided. A drive transistor for driving the light emitting element and a current setting transistor driven by a drive current flowing through the light emitting element. When the drive transistor is turned off, the light emitting element is caused to emit light, and other current supplied to the light emitting element is supplied. By using the current setting transistor, a bypass current is caused to flow, and the combined current is made substantially equal to the current flowing in the drive transistor at the time of turning on.

(E) Action The present invention supplies the power from the power source by making the combined current of the current flowing through the light emitting element and the bypass current flowing through the current setting transistor equal to the current flowing through the driving transistor when the driving transistor is off. The current is made constant so as to prevent unnecessary radiation due to current fluctuations.

In the above-mentioned circuit, when a digital signal of "L" level of the ground voltage is input to the input terminal (6), the drive transistor (5) is turned on, so that the emitter of the drive transistor (5) and the LED (4). Connection point A with the anode
Is approximately the conduction voltage between the base and emitter of the drive transistor (5). Therefore, the LED (4) is not conducted and does not emit light. At this time, since no drive current flows through the LED (4), the current setting transistor (8) is off. Therefore, when the "L" level digital signal is input to the input terminal (6), only the collector current of the drive transistor (5) flows to the ground.

On the other hand, when the "H" level digital signal of the power supply voltage (+ V DD ) is input to the input terminal (6), the driving transistor (5) is turned off, so that the LED (4) becomes conductive and emits light. At this time, a voltage obtained by subtracting the conduction voltage of the LED (4) from the power supply voltage (+ V DD ) is divided by the first resistor (7) and the second resistor (10) at the cathode of the LED (4). Voltage is generated. Here, in the conducting state of the LED (4),
A voltage higher than the conduction voltage between the base and emitter of the current setting transistor (8) is generated across the first resistor (7) so that the first and second resistors (7) and (1
Each resistance value of 0) is set by the balance of the power supply voltage and the conduction voltage of the LED (4). Therefore, the LE
When D (4) is turned on, the current setting transistor (8) turns on, and at this time, the LED (4) is grounded.
Drive current and the emitter current of the current setting transistor (8) flow. Here, the emitter current of the current setting transistor (8) is set by the third resistor (11) connected to the collector of the current setting transistor (8), and is set to the current flowing through the LED (4). It is set accordingly. The combined current of the drive current flowing through the LED (4) and the emitter current of the current setting transistor (8) is set to be equal to the collector current of the drive transistor (5) when it is on.

Therefore, in the circuit of FIG. 1, the currents flowing to the ground are equal when the LED (4) is emitting light and when it is not emitting light.

(G) Effect of the Invention As described above, the light emitting element drive circuit according to the present invention is configured such that the current supplied from the power source is substantially constant regardless of whether the light emitting element is emitting light or not. Therefore, unnecessary radiation due to current fluctuation can be prevented.
Further, in this case, the present invention causes the light emitting element to emit light when the drive transistor is off, and supplies the power from the power source regardless of the light emission of the light emitting element by the current setting transistor driven by the drive current flowing through the light emitting element. Since the current is kept substantially constant, there is an advantage that an increase in the number of elements forming the circuit can be minimized.
