2. Description of the Related Art Styrenic resins represented by ABS resins and impact-resistant polystyrene resins are used in a wide range of fields because of their excellent balance of physical properties. When these resins are used in electrical equipment such as office automation equipment, in the United States, U
Since the L standard (standard for flame retardant plastics for electric devices) is defined, highly flame retardant materials are used. However, conventional flame-retardant styrenic resins are usually achieved by adding a large amount of halogen-based compounds. Therefore, hydrogen halide gas is generated by thermal decomposition of halogen compounds during resin molding and incineration. However, it is a problem in terms of environmental toxicity and human toxicity. In order to solve this problem, development of a halogen-free or low-halogen flame-retardant styrene resin is desired. There is a method of using a phosphate-based compound as a flame-retardant method other than the addition of a halogen compound, but the flame-retardancy was hardly improved even when the phosphate-based compound was added to an ABS resin or a high impact polystyrene resin.
