Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 〈産業上の利用分野〉 本発明は高周波溶着により胴部と蓋部とを接合させて容
器を形成するための高周波溶着方法と、その方法に使用
される高周波加熱コイルに関する。
〈従来の技術〉 清涼飲料,炭酸飲料などの容器の軽量化,低廉化を図る
と共に、焼却可能としてゴミ公害を抑制するにはアルミ
ニウム缶ではなく、プラスチックフイルムを主体とする
プラスチック缶が好ましい。かかるプラスチック缶は、
ガスバリヤ性を付与するためプラスチックフイルムに金
属箔が積層された素材が使用され、その胴部は上記積層
状の帯状材料を螺旋状に巻回して形成され、又、その蓋
部も同様な積層材を所定形状にプレス加工等することで
成形される。そして胴部と蓋部とを接合させるため、こ
れらの嵌合部分を高周波溶着することが行われる。従っ
て、上記プラスチックフイルムは高周波溶着が可能なよ
うに、熱可塑性樹脂が使用され、前記金属箔からなる金
属層と熱可塑性樹脂とが少なくとも1層ずつ積層された
帯状材料が胴部の素材となっている。かかる帯状材料か
ら胴部の成形は、熱可塑性樹脂層が重合するように帯状
材料を螺旋状に巻回して行われる。
第3図はこのようにして成形された胴部31と、同様な素
材で加工成形が行われた蓋部32とを高周波溶着する従来
例の断面図を示している。胴部31の開口端から蓋部32が
胴部内部に嵌合されている。嵌合部分の胴部31外周面に
は加圧アーム33が圧接しており、蓋部32内には上方から
リング状の高周波加熱コイル35が配設された押圧ブロッ
ク34が圧入されており、高周波電源(図示せず)からコ
イル35に電流が供給されると、同図矢印Aのように磁界
が発生して嵌合部分が発熱し、高周波溶着を行うように
作用する。
〈発明が解決しようとする問題点〉 しかしながら、このような方法では胴部と蓋部とを全周
を溶着させることが難しい。これは帯状材料が螺旋状に
巻回された構造に起因するものである。すなわち胴部は
帯状材料に螺旋状に巻回した長尺筒を短手方向に切断し
て成形されるが、第4図のように、帯状材料の重合部B
は接着剤を介して熱可塑性樹脂が重ね合わされて電気的
に絶縁されていると共に、重合線と切断線とが交差する
部分が鋭角Cとなり、鋭角部Cの電気抵抗が大きくな
る。このような状態では高周波加熱コイル35からの磁界
で金属層に発生する電流は同図Dのように短絡して、鋭
角部C先端まで達することがなく、鋭角部Cが発熱しな
い。従って、鋭角部Cにおける熱可塑性樹脂が溶融せ
ず、この部分の胴部と蓋部とが溶着しないからである。
このような非溶着部分の存在は、内容部の洩出および細
菌の侵入等、不良の原因となっている。
本発明は上記事情を考慮してなされ、非溶着部分のない
全周溶着が可能な高周波溶着方法およびそのための高周
波加熱コイルを提供することを目的とする。
〈問題点を解決するための手段〉 上記目的を達成するため本発明に係る高周波溶着方法
は、帯状材料の重合部分に正逆2方向の高周波磁界を作
用させるようにしたことを特徴とする。又、本発明に係
る高周波加熱コイルは1本のコイルが折り返されてなる
往コイルと復コイルとを備え、このコイルを容器胴部に
嵌合させた蓋部との溶着部位の略全周に設けられている
ことを特徴とする。
〈作用〉 上記構成により、正逆2方向の高周波磁界は胴部の鋭角
部における電流の短絡を少なくするように作用する。
〈実施例〉 以下、本発明を図示する実施例を参照して具体的に説明
する。
第1図は本発明の一実施例の断面図、第2図はその高周
波加熱コイルの斜視図である。胴部1と胴部1の開口端
から胴部1に嵌着された蓋部2とによって容器が構成さ
れている。胴部1および蓋部2は金属層と熱可塑性樹脂
層とが積層された積層部材で成形されている。胴部1は
上記積層部材からなる帯状材料が螺旋状に巻回された長
尺筒を短手方向に切断することで得ることができる。こ
の場合、熱可塑性樹脂層が重合するように螺旋状に巻回
される。一方、蓋部2は上記積層部材をプレス等によっ
て加工することで成形される。本実施例では蓋部2は胴
部1内に嵌入され胴部1内面に当接する凹部2aと、凹部
2aの上端から外方向に屈曲されて胴部1の上端面に当接
するフランジ部2bとが一体的に成形されている。又、本
実施例において胴部1の熱可塑性樹脂は内面に位置して
おり、一方、蓋部2の熱可塑性樹脂は下面に位置して、
これらの嵌着状態では胴部1と蓋体2の熱可塑性樹脂が
相互に接触するようになっている。ここで金属層として
は、防錆性,ガスバリヤ性が強く、又、軽量なアルミニ
ウム箔又はこの合金箔が使用することができる。一方、
熱可塑性樹脂としては食品衛生上の問題がなく、しかも
無臭で反応性の小さなものがよく、例えばポリエチレン
フイルム,ポリプロピレンフイルム,ポリエチレンビニ
ルアルコールフイルムなどが選択することができる。な
お、金属層は少なくとも1層が積層されればよく、2層
以上であってもよい。
第1図中、5は蓋部2の凹部2a内に挿入される加工治具
であり、4は胴部1の外周面に当接するコイル支持具で
ある。コイル支持具4は絶縁材からなり、その内部には
第2図に示すような高周波加熱コイル3が挿入されてい
る。ここで前記加工治具5の押圧ブロック5aは外側面が
テーパ状となるように成形されており、加工治具5を下
降させて、その押圧ブロック5aを蓋部2の凹部2a内の挿
入させると、蓋部2の凹部2aが押し拡げられて凹部2aお
よび胴部1が幾分拡大し、蓋部2の凹部2aが胴部1内面
に密着するようになっている。
前記高周波加熱コイル3は第2図に示すように、1本の
コイルが折り返されることにより、相互に平衡な往コイ
ル3aと復コイル3bとが連続して構成されている。これら
の往コイル3a,復コイル3bは前記胴部1が挿入可能な径
を有するリング状に成形されている。この場合、折り返
し部3cは高周波電源(図示せず)に接続される入出力端
3dに近接しており、これにより往コイル3a,復コイル3b
は共に、胴部1の略全周に沿って設けられている。かか
る高周波加熱コイル3はコイル支持具4内に挿入されて
おり、コイル支持具4を胴部1の外周面に嵌めると、往
コイル3a,復コイル3bのセッテイングが終了する。この
状態で高周波電源から高周波加熱コイル3に高周波を印
加すると、往コイル3aおよび復コイル3bから生じる磁界
は第2図矢印Eのように「8」字状となっている。すな
わち、往コイル3aから生じる磁界と復コイル3bから生じ
る磁界とは正逆2方向に流れ、この正逆2方向の磁界が
胴部1と蓋部2との嵌合部分に作用する。このような磁
界によって金属層の鋭角部における電流の短絡が少なく
なる。従って、胴部1と蓋部2を全周にわたって溶着さ
せることができる。
本発明は上記実施例に限られず、種々変更が可能であ
る。例えば、高周波加熱コイルを蓋部の凹部に設けても
よく、嵌合部分の加圧を胴部側から行ってもよい。又、
個々に独立した往コイルと復コイルとによって高周波加
熱コイルを形成し、各コイルに対し反対方向から印加し
てもよい。
〈発明の効果〉 以上のとおり本発明は、高周波溶着に際し、正逆2方向
の磁界を作用させるようにしたから、胴部および蓋部の
嵌合部全周を溶着することができ溶着不良品の発生を抑
制することができる、効果を奏する。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項1】少なくとも金属層と熱可塑性樹脂層とが積
    層された帯状材料が前記熱可塑性樹脂層が重合するよう
    に螺旋状に巻回されてなる胴部と、該胴部に嵌合された
    蓋部とを高周波溶着によって接合させる方法において、 少なくとも前記重合部分に高周波磁界を正逆2方向に作
    用させることを特徴とする高周波溶着方法。
  2. 【請求項2】1本のコイルが折り返されてなる往コイル
    と復コイルとを備え、少なくとも金属層と熱可塑性樹脂
    層とが積層された帯状材料が前記熱可塑性樹脂層が重合
    するように螺旋状に巻回されてなる胴部と、該胴部に嵌
    合させた蓋部との溶着部位の略全周に設けられることを
    特徴とする高周波加熱コイル。
