ために、ガス通路を閉塞、又は縮少してガス通路として
の機能を著しく阻害すると共に、ガイ通路に侵入した石
炭が乾留経過と共にコークス化されるために、炉蓋脱着
時にガス通路内に侵入していたコークスがプラットホー
ム上に脱落飛散するか、あるいは脱落飛散しない場合に
は石炭装入の都度コークスがガス通路に堆積し、ついに
はガス通路を完全に閉塞しガス通路を有する炉蓋本来の
機能が全く失われてしまうという問題を有していた。上
記問題を防止するためには、ガス通路上部を何等かの方
法により塞ぐことが必要となるが、この場合ガス通路内
に集合したガスがコークス炉炭化室上部の炉頂空間部へ
到達するためには、ガスはガス通路の開口部から再び炉
蓋外に出て石炭層内を通過せねばならず、その結果ガス
通路部の圧力が過大となり、炉蓋から大気中へのガス漏
洩につながる欠点を有していた。

全く発生しない。均し作業が完了すれば移動シュート13
は押出機により引き戻されるので開口12が露出すること
になり、ガス通路2を通過したガスを無理なく炉頂空間
部14へと導びくことができ乾留初期の過大な圧力発生を
防止すると共にガス通路2内での石炭による閉塞を防止
することができる。なお第4図は均し口ガイド6のない
炉蓋に押出機の移動シュート13が挿入された状態を示
す。この第4図によればガス通路2が露出するので石炭
装入中の均し作業時に石炭がガス通路2に流れ込み、ガ
ス通路を閉塞させることがわかる。
