Description

【考案の詳細な説明】 ［産業上の利用分野］ 屋外での使用範囲を広めた。
［従来の技術］ 従来は綿糸・織物・軸木と綿糸の組合せた灯芯しかな
く、風に弱かった。
［考案が解決しようとする課題］ 従来のろうそくは、風の吹く屋外では炎が吹き消され易
かった。原因は灯芯が綿・布であるため少々の風で燃焼
部の温度が下がり、ろうが気化しなくなるからである。
したがって、灯芯の温度が低下しにくい構造を考えた。
［課題を解決するための手段］ この課題を解決するために、綿糸と木または竹からなる
軸木との組合わせを考えた。しかし、単に並列させただ
けでは燃焼部に軸木が突き出てしまって、かえって燃焼
を妨げることになってしまうのである。
そこで考え出したのが、木または竹の軸木の周囲を和紙
または綿の芯材で直接覆ってしまう構造である。こうし
て芯材の中心に軸木をもってくることによって、軸木が
燃焼の妨げになることもなくなり、同時に軸木が炭化し
て炭火としての役割を果たして、燃焼部分の温度が安定
するようになった。こうして少々の風では消えないろう
そくができた。
軸木の素材として木・竹・練炭がある。芯材としては、
ろうを吸い上げて燃焼させるので、紙・布・綿がよい。
［作用］ ろうそくが消えるのは燃焼部の温度が低下するからであ
る。綿糸や布帛の芯材だけでは風が吹いてくると燃焼部
の温度を維持する事が非常に困難なので、すぐに消火し
ていた。
本考案の芯を使った場合は、風が吹いてくると中心部の
軸木の炭化した部分が炭火となって赤熱するので、燃焼
部の温度低下を防いで、炎が小さくなっても、燃え続け
る事ができるのである。
既存の軸木と綿糸の組み合わせでは、並列されているだ
けなので、軸木が燃焼の妨げとなって、このような効果
が生じてこないこともわかった。
［考案の効果］ 耐風ろうそくはお墓参りの灯火として使っても最後まで
燃つきる場合が多くなった。キャンプで使った時も、普
通のろうそくが消えてもこのろうそくは燃え続けた。
