る。2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, a thermal transfer system in which an electric signal is applied to a thermal print head to form an image has become widespread. On the other hand, a method using a laser instead of a thermal print head has also been developed, and it is considered that the method will spread as the output of the laser increases. In such a system, a substance having a strong absorption in the wavelength region of the laser is included, and the absorbing substance converts light energy into heat energy, thereby obtaining an effect similar to that of a thermal print head. Also, when using a laser, there is an advantage that the surface of the image can not be scratched because there is no contact compared to the thermal print head, and the image resolution can be improved because the laser beam can be narrowed down. is there. Since the device is small and inexpensive as a laser light source, the oscillation wavelength is usually 670.
A semiconductor laser having a wavelength of about 830 nm is used, and in this case, the infrared absorbing substance is used as the absorbing substance.

JP-A-7-149063 and JP-A-7-149065
It is described in the specification of the issue. In this image formation, a material having a dye layer composition composed of an image dye coated on a support, a substance having an absorption in a laser wavelength range (the infrared absorbing substance described in the above specification) and a binder is used. Is irradiated from the dye layer side with a laser.
The energy provided by the laser causes a rapid local change in the imaging layer at the spot where the laser beam hits the material, thereby removing the substance from the layer. Among the substances removed in this manner, there is a problem that the image quality of the recording material is degraded by depositing on the lens of the laser device or the already-written portion of the ablation recording material. It was necessary to attach a large-scale removal material collection device as disclosed in the specification of US Pat.

It can be obtained by reacting the component (leuco dye) with the HA component (acid) in an appropriate reaction solvent, or by mixing and dispersing the mixture of both in a fine state to form a leuco dye. At this time, a binder used for the heat-sensitive recording material may coexist. In this case, the molar ratio of the leuco dye to the acid is preferably from 1: 1 to 1:10, particularly preferably from 1: 1 to 1: 5. When high thermal sensitivity (high color erasing speed) is required, lower the ratio of acid, and when raw storability is important, increase the ratio of acid to provide properties according to the purpose. Can be. The application amount of the leuco dye is preferably 0.5 to 10 mmol / m 2 , and particularly preferably 1 to 5 mmol / m 2 . The thermal sensitivity and storage stability can be adjusted by the kind of the binder used in combination and other additives.

The heat-sensitive recording material described in this patent specification contains a heat-decolorable substance in a heat-sensitive recording layer and causes a decoloring reaction by heating to form an image. Therefore, this image forming process using a laser as a heating method corresponds to claim 1 of the present invention.
As a result of subsequent studies, images obtained after thermal decolorization using a cyanine dye having a p-toluenesulfonic acid anion or an inorganic perfluorinated anion BF 4 - as a counter ion as described in Example 2 of this patent specification were obtained. It has been found that there is a problem that the minimum concentration of is insufficient due to the effect of haze. The effect of this haze extends to increasing the Dmin in the UV region in addition to the UV absorption of IR dyes, and is also a problem in graphic arts applications such as irradiating UV-sensitive printing plates with UV radiation. .

It is described that cyanine dyes having a perfluorinated organic counter ion in dye ablation recording materials are effective in improving the Dmin value. However, even with the use of a cyanine dye having a perfluorinated organic counterion, the above-mentioned problem in a heat-sensitive recording material containing a heat-decolorable substance could not be solved.

The scanning pitch was set to 8 lines / mm, and the above-mentioned sample was exposed so as to form an image of 22 mm × 9 mm. At this time, the laser energy density on the sample was 10 mJ / mm.
Was 2 . <Evaluation of Dmin (minimum density), Dmax (highest density) and haze> The density of the laser-irradiated portion was measured using a densitometer TD904 (using a Vis filter) manufactured by Macbeth, and the sample in which the leuco dye was a UV dye was used. 7, 8 and 13
Dmin (minimum concentration) in the Vis region of the sample excluding. Since the absorption in the visible part of the filter used was almost as small as that of any of the IR dyes, it was determined that the haze of the exposed part was increased when the visible Dmin was 0.11 or more.
Further, the density of the laser-irradiated portion and the non-irradiated portion was measured using a UV filter with the same measuring device, and Dmin and Dmax (maximum concentration) in the UV region of Samples 7, 8, and 13 were measured.
And These samples were evaluated for haze by UV-Dmin. Table 1 shows the obtained results.
