However, in the ABS resin industry, further cost reduction and quality improvement are required. As a measure to reduce costs and improve quality, the rubber content of the rubber-rich ABS resin is further increased, and the blending amount of low-cost AS resin with excellent productivity is increased. And quality, especially color tones. However, when the rubber content of the rubber-rich ABS resin is increased as compared with the conventional product, the polymerization conversion and the graft ratio of the monomer component become low, and the impact resistance and elongation of the final product decrease, and There are problems such as deterioration of the molded appearance due to the occurrence.

[0004] In order to solve these problems, various studies have been made to change the type and amount of a polymerization initiator and a molecular weight regulator for the purpose of improving the graft ratio. In particular, it is well known that various approaches have been taken since a molecular weight modifier has a large effect on the graft ratio.
-Mercaptan-based molecular weight regulators such as dodecyl mercaptan and n-octyl mercaptan hardly increase the graft ratio and cause a unique mercaptan odor during handling. On the other hand, molecular weight regulators such as monoterpenoids such as α-methylstyrene and terpinolene have the disadvantage that the polymerization conversion of the final polymer is reduced.

4% by weight. If the amount of the component (a) is less than 30% by weight, the effect of improving the productivity and the color tone is not sufficient.
If the amount is more than 10% by weight, the graft ratio is reduced, and the generation of fish eyes is increased in the final product containing another thermoplastic resin, and the appearance, elongation and impact resistance are significantly reduced. The amount of the aromatic vinyl compound (b) used in the production of the rubber-modified thermoplastic resin is 6 to 63% by weight,

The graft ratio of the rubber-modified thermoplastic resin is 5% by weight or more, preferably 10% by weight or more.
When the graft ratio is less than 5% by weight, fish eyes are often generated, and the appearance and impact resistance are poor. The graft ratio is measured by the following method. Here, the graft ratio refers to the ratio of the copolymer component directly graft-bonded to the rubber-like polymer with respect to the amount of rubber in the rubber-modified thermoplastic resin. This graft ratio can be controlled by the amount of the polymerization initiator, the polymerization temperature, and the like. As a specific method of obtaining the graft ratio, first, 1 g of the rubber-modified thermoplastic resin of the present invention is charged into acetone at room temperature, stirred sufficiently, and the insoluble matter (w) is determined. On the other hand, the amount of the rubbery polymer in the insoluble matter (w) can be calculated based on the polymerization recipe. With the calculated total amount of the rubbery polymer as R, the graft ratio is determined from the following equation. Graft amount (% by weight) = [(w−R) / R] × 100

The intrinsic viscosity (methyl ethyl ketone, 30 ° C.) of the methyl ethyl ketone soluble component of the rubber-modified thermoplastic resin of the present invention is preferably 0.1 to 0.5 dl / g.
More preferably, it is 0.15 to 0.45 dl / g.
If it is less than 0.1 dl / g, the impact resistance of the obtained rubber-modified thermoplastic resin will be reduced. If it exceeds 0.5 dl / g, fish eyes will be generated more frequently and the appearance of the molded article will be poor. This intrinsic viscosity can be easily adjusted by appropriately selecting the type and amount of the molecular weight regulator and the polymerization initiator and the polymerization temperature.

In the present invention, a mercaptopropionic acid alkyl ester having the structure shown below is used alone or in combination as a molecular weight regulator. By using this molecular weight regulator, the polymerization conversion rate and the graft rate can be improved, and the coagulum generated during the polymerization can be reduced. Also, there is an advantage that the odor at the time of handling and at the time of product recovery is significantly improved as compared with the conventional mercaptan-based molecular weight regulator.

[0015] (In the formula, R represents an alkyl group having 6 to 14 carbon atoms.) Here, the alkyl group R has 6 to 14 carbon atoms, preferably 8 to 12 carbon atoms. If the amount is outside this range, the amount of coagulum generated during polymerization increases, and the impact resistance and elongation of the final product containing another thermoplastic resin are reduced. In addition, generation of fish eyes increases, and the appearance deteriorates. Specific examples of the alkyl mercaptopropionate include dodecyl (3-mercapto) propionate, octyl (3-mercapto) propionate, and hexyl (3-mercapto) propionate.

The amount of the alkyl mercaptopropionate used is preferably 0.1 to 3 parts by weight, more preferably 0.15 to 2 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the total of the rubber component and the monomer component. is there. If the amount is less than 0.1 part by weight, fish eyes are remarkably generated in the final product, which is not preferable. On the other hand, if it exceeds 3 parts by weight,
As the polymerization conversion rate decreases, the graft rate decreases,
It is not preferable because the impact resistance of the final product deteriorates. The above-mentioned alkyl mercaptopropionate may be used in combination with another molecular weight regulator. In this case, the amount of the other molecular weight regulator used is preferably less than 50% by weight of the total amount used.

The polymerization initiator used in the production of the rubber-modified thermoplastic resin of the present invention includes organic peroxides such as hydroperoxide, alkyl perester, percarbonate, peroxyketal, ketone peroxide, and peroxides. Potassium sulfate, azobisisobutyronitrile and the like are used alone or in combination. These polymerization initiators are also used in combination with a reducing agent such as a sugar-containing iron pyrophosphate formulation, a sulfoxylate formulation, or a mixed formulation of a sugar-containing iron pyrophosphate formulation / sulfoxylate formulation. The amount of the polymerization initiator to be used is 0.01 to 5 parts by weight, preferably 0.1 to 2 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the total of the rubber component and the monomer component. If the amount is less than 0.01 part by weight, the polymerization conversion rate is low and a large amount of unreacted monomer remains, which is not preferable in production. On the other hand, when the amount exceeds 5 parts by weight, the molecular weight of the grafted copolymer is remarkably reduced, and sufficient impact resistance cannot be obtained.

Polymerization conversion rate The residual unreacted monomer amount in the final polymer was calculated by FID gas chromatography, and the total polymerization charge amount (the amount obtained by subtracting the residual unreacted monomer amount from the total polymerization charge amount (base rubber + monomer)) was calculated. The ratio to (base rubber + monomer) was defined as the polymerization conversion. Quantitative determination of polymerized coagulum The coagulum adhering to the polymerization feed and the latex after polymerization were filtered through a 200 mesh wire net, and the residue was recovered, washed with water, dehydrated, dried at a constant temperature (40 ° C), and dried. The agglomerate was quantified and expressed as a percentage of the actual charged weight of the polymer. Agglomerate (%) = (Agglomerate / actual weight of polymer) ×

According to the present invention, when a rubber-modified thermoplastic resin is obtained, a specific molecular weight regulator is used, so that the polymerization conversion and the grafting ratio are improved, and the agglomerates generated during the polymerization are reduced. And can further contribute to polymerization productivity. Since the rubber-modified thermoplastic resin obtained by the present invention has a high rubber component content, the effect of improving the impact resistance can be obtained with a small amount, so that it is easy to cope with the expandability. In addition, thermoplastic resins such as AS resins are excellent in productivity and low in cost, and therefore, by blending them, it is possible to mass-produce low-cost ABS resins with high productivity. A molded article of a thermoplastic resin composition obtained by mixing another thermoplastic resin with the obtained rubber-modified thermoplastic resin is excellent in impact resistance, elongation and surface appearance (color tone, fish eye).
