Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively obtain socks capable of locally fastening feet, not damaging a wearing feeling, raising a commercial value, reducing an amount of an expensive rubber yarn used as much as possible, comfortably wearable even, all the day. SOLUTION: Knitting yarns are zigzag fed to knitting needles of a front and a rear needle beds to knit either the front or the rear of a foot inserting top 2 by using a flat knitting machine equipped with a pair of needle beds opposed in front and in rear. Further knitting yarns are zigzag fed to the knitting needles of the front and the rear needle beds to knit the other of the front or the rear of the foot inserting top 2. Consequently, a knitted fabric is cylindrically formed. The cylindrical knitting width is gradually reduced by decrease between the foot inserting top 2 and an ankle part 4, and/or loop length is shortened and knitting width is narrowed according to the surface of the foot from the foot inserting top 2 to the ankle part 4. A rubber yarn is omitted in knitting from the foot inserting top 2 to the tip 7 of toenail or the rubber yarn is inserted only in two or several courses of a knitting staring part of the food inserting top 2 to eliminate the amount of the rubber yarn used in knitting a sock 1 or to reduce the amount as much as possible.

Further, the present invention minimizes the use of elastic yarns such as rubber yarns, which have conventionally been provided over a wide width from the ankle portion to the vicinity of the foot insertion port. Of course, this does not preclude the insertion of a thread. In addition, in the present invention, the eyes are reduced four times from the shin to the ankle, and the eyes are increased twice from the ankle to the heel. However, as shown in FIG. The eyes are reduced three times during the period, and the eyes are increased once from the ankle to the heel, or the eyes are reduced twice from the shin to the ankle as shown in FIG. Can also be formed.

As described above, the present invention uses a flat knitting machine having a pair of needle beds facing each other back and forth, and a sock made of a tubular knitted fabric knitted from a toe or a foot insertion opening. From the ankle portion to the foot insertion opening, the knitting width is changed by increasing or decreasing the number of stitches instead of inserting the rubber thread in the portion knitted by inserting a rubber thread over a wide width. The socks are adapted to the undulations of the feet, so that the socks are well adapted to the undulations of the feet, and have the advantage of being comfortable and of high commercial value.
