2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, an indirect pressurizing method using a vacuum pressure has been known as a method for setting a gap in a liquid crystal panel as described above, as disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 1-257824. However, the jig for implementing this method has a problem that the force for clamping the glass panel differs depending on the thickness of the glass panel, and the gap setting accuracy is deteriorated. Japanese Unexamined Patent Application Publication No. 8-26788 filed by the applicant of the present invention is also known as a gap setting jig for solving such a problem.

However, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 8-26 / 1994
The gap setting jig disclosed in Japanese Patent Publication No. 788 cannot cope with a difference in the size of the glass panel because the glass panel itself is used as a part of the jig. It was necessary to prepare a gap setting jig corresponding to each. The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and provides a jig capable of pressing a glass panel with a uniform pressure regardless of the thickness of the glass panel and capable of forming a gap for glass panels having different sizes. The purpose is to do.

Next, the structure of the panel supporting member G which is the second structure will be described. Suction holes 10 formed in a size that can be mounted on the pair of mounting members 4 and 4A and penetrating vertically at positions corresponding to the suction pads 5 and 5A,
A holding plate 11 made of ceramic with a hole 10 and suction holes 10 and 10 on the holding plate 11 are arranged at an inner position, and a part of the holding plate is cut out for ventilation (not shown). And an annular spacer 12 made of aluminum. The annular spacer 12 has a wall width (increased or shortened inward in accordance with the size of a glass panel W to be described later, thereby increasing the width of the hollow portion surrounded by the annular spacer 12). Is changed.
The thickness of the annular spacer 12 is slightly higher than the thickness of the glass panel W. The above is the configuration of the panel support member G. Although the thickness of the annular spacer 12 is larger than the thickness of the glass panel W, it may be thinner, and may be in the range of ± 0.5 mm with respect to the glass panel W.

A procedure for forming a gap in the glass panel W by the above-described structure will be described. The assembly frame F is placed on a surface plate (not shown) outside the hot air circulation oven M, and the holding plate is formed. To the mounting members 4, 4A
Put on. At this time, the tips of the suction pads 5, 5A are pressed downward and slightly deformed, and the suction holes 10, 10 and the suction pads 5, 5A are in communication. Next, a glass panel W having a spherical spacer 22 interposed between the upper and lower glass substrates 20 and 21 and a thermosetting sealing material 23 applied between the peripheral edges of the glass substrates 20 and 21 is prepared. Holding pre
An annular spacer 12 is placed on the glass panel W and is formed in an annular shape corresponding to the size of the glass panel W.
Is placed so as to surround it. As a result, the glass panel W is placed on the upper part of the panel supporting member G. Next, the pressure sheet member P is placed on the panel supporting member G in a corresponding manner. In this case, since the flexible sheet 14 is supported on the annular spacer 12, there is a slight gap from the glass panel W. (Fig. 2)

In this state, the suction pads 5, 5A and the vacuum pump 9 are communicated with each other, so that the panel supporting member G and the pressure screen are connected.
And the pressure between the member P is reduced. Due to this suction and pressure reduction, the space defined by the panel supporting member G and the pressure sealing member P (the inside of the annular packing 15) and the air inside the glass panel W are sucked, and the pressure is reduced, resulting in a flexible seal.
The glass 14 is pressed by the atmospheric pressure and closely adheres to the upper surface of the glass panel W (the upper surface of the glass substrate 20), thereby uniformly pressing the entire surface of the glass substrate 20 to form a gap.
Note that the frame plate 13 is formed into an annular packing 15 by this suction pressure reduction.
The suction pad 5 is in close contact with the holding plate 11 through
5A is also in close contact with the holding plate 11, and the assembling frame F,
The panel supporting member G and the pressure sheet member P are integrally sucked and held.

Next, the above-mentioned suction and pressure reduction is continued, and when the internal pressure reaches a predetermined pressure, the integrally held jig is put into a hot air circulation oven M and heated for a predetermined time (1-2 hours) (15 hours).
0 ° C.) to react and harden the sealing material 23.
Thereafter, the jig is taken out of the hot air circulation oven M and is allowed to cool naturally. When the temperature of the glass panel W drops to the greenhouse, the suction of the vacuum pump 9 is cut off, the pressurized sheet member P is removed, and the gap is removed. The removed glass panel W is taken out and the gap setting operation is completed. (The shutoff of the vacuum pump 9 may be performed before the natural cooling.) When the outer dimension of the glass panel W for forming the gap changes, the size of the annular spacer 12 also changes. The reason for this is that if the space between the annular spacer 12 and the glass panel W is too wide, the flexible seal is reduced by suction and pressure reduction.
This is to prevent the plate 14 from directly adhering to the upper surface of the holding plate 11, thereby preventing the inside from being depressurized.

According to the present invention, as is apparent from the above description, the entire upper surface of the glass panel is pressed by the flexible sheet regardless of the thickness of the glass panel at the atmospheric pressure due to the reduced suction pressure. A gap can be formed by pressurization. Furthermore, even if the size of the glass panel changes, it can be handled only by changing the size of the annular spacer, and can be used as a versatile jig for making gaps.
