However, in the conventional optical connector 41, since the ferrule 42 is manufactured by cutting and polishing metal or the like, the manufacturing efficiency is extremely low and the manufacturing cost is extremely high. In addition, in order to fix the optical fiber cords 7 to the ferrule 42, the bonding operation must be performed one by one, which further lowers the productivity and increases the manufacturing cost. Therefore, development of a low-cost optical connector 41 is desired. Therefore, an attempt has been made to manufacture an optical connector in which the ferrule is formed by resin molding and the terminal of the optical fiber cord 7 is fixed to the ferrule by resin molding at the same time (for example, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2-165109).
issue). However, according to this method, since a small-diameter optical fiber must be inserted into a positioning hole of the optical fiber provided at the tip of the cavity of the mold, the optical fiber is bent, which makes the operation difficult and inefficient. , Which hindered cost reduction. Further, in order to easily insert an optical fiber, it is necessary to increase the size of a positioning hole, and there is a problem that accuracy is reduced.

That is, the manufacturing method of the optical connector of the present invention is as follows.
Since an optical connector can be obtained by resin molding, the manufacturing efficiency is greatly improved and the manufacturing cost is dramatically reduced as compared with a conventional ferrule manufactured by cutting and polishing metal or the like. In addition, since the optical connector is obtained by fixing the optical fiber cord to the ferrule at the same time as molding the ferrule, the labor of bonding the optical fibers to the ferrule one by one as in the related art can be omitted, and the productivity is further improved, and the manufacturing cost is improved. Will also be lower. In addition, resin molding is performed with the optical fiber sandwiched between opposing positioning pins and positioned on the axis, and the optical fiber tip is inserted into the positioning hole provided on the movable mold and positioned on the axis of the cavity. Therefore, even if the injection pressure of the resin or the like is applied, the optical fiber is not displaced and the eccentricity of the optical fiber with respect to the ferrule is almost eliminated. A connector is obtained.

Further, in the optical connector of the present invention, the optical fiber is fixed to the ferrule so as to penetrate on the axis of the ferrule, and a side hole facing the side of the ferrule is formed. Exposed. That is, it is obtained by the above manufacturing method, is efficiently produced, and is low in cost. In addition, since the optical fiber has almost no eccentricity with respect to the ferrule, the insertion loss of light becomes extremely small, and the present invention can be applied to a place where the insertion loss is strictly defined, such as for communication.

As described above, according to the present invention, since an optical connector can be obtained by resin molding, the manufacturing efficiency is significantly improved as compared with a conventional ferrule manufactured by cutting and polishing metal or the like. In addition, the manufacturing cost is dramatically reduced.
